‘We would love to see a better turnout in the coming years since we are offering prayer to South Africa and entire world’ Many believers flocked to Full Gospel Church of God - Kgautswane, where the global prayer meeting was held with believers coming from various churches in Kgautswane and outside. Prayer focused on the social ills that are troubling our society today. The believers said: “It is evident that government cannot afford to handle all these problems alone; churches as civil society have to play their part by inviting God to see us through. We need divine intervention in all these social ills that trouble our country. Crime is alarmingly high, abuse of women and children is rising, drug and alcohol abuse is worsening, diseases are killing people as if we are in a war zone, ill-discipline in schools and prostitution is becoming a norm”. “We would love to see a better turnout in the coming years since we are offering prayer to South Africa and entire world. The world is so troubled that we cannot afford to see things
getting worse off and keep silent. God that we serve is able” said Bishop Mohlala K.S. Bishop Mohlala K.S (FGC senior pastor) has been the coordinator of these annual prayer meetings for more than 10 years. The Bible scripture that influence the believe to continue in prayer for the land is 2 Chronicle 7:1 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”. The assistant coordinator for the event was Isaac Mashaba who sent a special thanks to all who managed to come through to the prayer meeting. “As FGC-Kgautswane we would like to say a big thanks to everyone who contributed to make this day a success. Anyone who would like to become involved in future prayer days can contact 083 667 0100. (Information and photographs: FGC Kgautswane).

Job 12:7-10 7 “But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; 8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. 9 Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? 10 In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. 7
“Miskien moet jy die diere vra om jou te leer, die voëls daarbo om jou te vertel, 8of praat met die aarde dat dit jou leer en met die visse in die see dat hulle dit vir jou sê. 9Wie van hulle weet nie almal dat die hand van die Here alles gemaak het nie? 10Hy het al wat lewe, in sy mag, die asem van elke mens.
Beware of internet café’s offering illegal gambling In unprecedented court proceedings several illegal gamblers have had their unlawfully obtained gambling winnings confiscated and forfeited to the State. The unlawful winnings to the amount of approximately R1,250,000 were derived from illegal gambling activities specifically online gambling. The National Gambling Board is the national regulator in the gambling industry in South Africa and in terms of Section 16 of the National Gambling Act, 2004 is obliged to investigate the circumstances of illegal gambling activities including illegal online gambling. Ms Caroline Kongwa, the Accounting Authority of the National Gambling Board emphasises that besides the forfeiture of unlawful winnings in favour of the state, the punters who partake in illegal gambling activities are liable for criminal prosecution. The public is hereby cautioned to be weary of online gambling offerings, as online gambling is illegal in South Africa, and thus anyone participating in any illegal online gambling activity would be unable to receive any win-
nings and would expose themselves to criminal prosecution. Citizens caught gambling illegally or running an illegal gambling establishment such as internet cafes that provide illegal online gambling will be targeted and they will face criminal charges or a hefty fine to the maximum of R10 million or both. She emphasises that the NGB’s role and mandate is to protect the public. She appeals to the public to report websites which advertise online gambling and establishments (especially those disguised as internet cafes) in South Africa which offer online gambling and other illegal gambling activities to the public Kongwa also encourages the public to be vigilant to distinguish between licensed and unlicensed gambling operators and be aware of what constitutes an unlawful gambling activity. The NGB can be contacted on 0100033475 and for any further information at www.ngb. org.za. Information relating to any suspected illegal gambling activity in South Africa can be provided to the NGB at fraudalert@ngb.org.za.
