Sunrise? The Greater Tubatse Municipal Council decided Thursday last week to request the Limpopo Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) to second officials to act as Municipal Manager and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) respectively. The Communications Unit of the Municipality says in a media statement CoGHSTA has responded by sending Mr M Moja as Acting Municipal Manager and Mr D Mhangwana as Acting CFO, replacing Ms M A Monyepao and Mr M W Maepa whose contracts have expired. According to the statement Ms Monyepao will resume her role as Director of Economic and Land Development while Mr Maepa MW went back to a position at the Sekhukhune District Municipality. Their appointments took effect on Monday 8 September 2014 and will lapse once the positions are filled. The Mayor and Executive Committee wished the two gentlemen all the best in their endeavours to assist the Municipality and called upon all stakeholders to work with them. In the meantime the investigation by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) appointed by President Jacob Zuma to investigate the matters of the municipality pertaining to corruption and maladministration is still ongoing. The permanent Municipal Manager, Mr Lemon Phala, also remains suspended and as far as can be determined, labour action regarding his status is still ongoing. Ms Monyepao and Mr Maepa’s departure came in the midst of allegations of corruption and irregularities peretaining to the positions they filled.

Dwarsrivier Mine Arbour Day celebrated in Kalkfontein On Friday 5 September 2014 Kalkfontein village near Dwarsrivier Mine became a hive of activity as Arbour Day was celebrated. Dwarsrivier Mine, the Department of Education, SK FM and local community and political leaders joined hands to create awareness for greening the planet with indigenous trees. The event took place at Mmahlagane Primary School. Learners from Gobetse High School, Ngwaabe Secondary School, Sengane High School, Ngwanangoato High School and Nkotwane High School joined the primary school learners to learn more about Arbour Day. More than 500 learners attended the event. Dwarsrivier Mine has established a small nursery at Mmahlagane Primary School. This will serve as a hub from where cultivated trees can be distributed in the area. The aim is to also involve other businesses, mining companies and individuals who would like to become involved with donating indigenous trees for greening the area. A short presentation about three trees common in the area gave the learners valuable information on why indigenous vegetation is so important and what uses

Mr Remember Mmbengwa from Dwarsrivier Mine encouraged the learners to take care of the environment and become involved with projects that will create a sustainable and green future for Greater Tubatse. The emphasis fell on planting indigenous trees and using them in a sustainable way. After the formal program that included speeches from Mrs. Masha (Mmahlagane Primary School Principal), Kgoshi Masha, Cllr. Tshehla from Greater Tubatse Municipality, Mr MW Komane from the Department of Education, Mr Silas Hlapolosa and Mr Remember Mmbengwa from Dwarsrivier Mine, the group planted a tree and visited the nursery. Learners provided entertainment items between the various speakers. The day ended with a warm meal and lots of newly gained knowledge about indigenous trees.

Limpopo misses ‘Clean Audit 2014’ The Office of the Premier says the Province has failed to achieve the “Clean Audit 2014” target, but some improvements have been recorded during 2013/14. . Limpopo Departments have recorded a small regression in the number of Votes that received unqualified audit opinions, from 7 to 6 in 2012/13 to 2013/14 respectively. In 2013/14 the Province recorded only one “Clean Audit”, in the Department of Co-Operative Governance Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA). It is however worth noting that three other Departments that obtained unqualified audit reports for 2013/14 were sited with a minor number of no compliance matters, they been Office of the Premier, Provincial Treasury and Safety, Security and Liaison. On the whole, for 2013/14 the provincial departments audit outcomes were as follows; 1 Clean, 5 Unqualified, 6 Qualified and 1 Disclaimed. During the current year the Province did record improvements in the audit outcomes of three departments. The Office of the Premier says the improvement in the audit outcome of the Department of Health and Public Works both from Disclaimed opinions to Qualified is commendable and it is trusted that these improvements will continue during the current year to unqualified. The other improvement was in the Department of CoGHSTA from an Unqualified to Clean Audit. Unfortunately the Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism was the only department to record a regression in audit opinion from unqualified to qualified due to

movable assets between the Department and the Limpopo Tourism Agency. Of major concern in the province is the continued disclaimer in the Department of Education, which has been disclaimed for three consecutive years and the 6 qualified opinions of which three have remained qualified from 2012/13, namely Departments of Agriculture, Social Development and Sport, Arts and Culture. It has been noted that movable assets remains the Achilles heel in the province. The Provincial Treasury has commissioned a movable assets scanning project that aims to address this perennial problem and assist these departments to progress to an unqualified opinion in 2014/15. For the five public entities in the province, an improvement has been recorded in the Limpopo Economic Development Agency (LEDA) from qualified reports over the last three financial years to unqualified in 2013/14. The Limpopo Gambling Board (LGB) has maintained its unqualified audit report, but also needs to strive to a clean status in 2014/15. It is also worth noting that the Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) has progressed to a qualified audit opinion in 2013/14 from the previous, five consecutive years, of disclaimed opinions. The regression in the audit opinion of the Gateway Airport Authority Limited (GAAL) from qualified to disclaimed is concerning to the Province and decisive interventions will be need to correct this situation in the public entity. The report for the Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL) has not yet been finalized.
Come on summer! Platinum Gazette’s photographer caught this Brown-hooded kingfisher (Halcyon albiventris) calling in a Burgersfort tree this week. The bird is common in the eastern half of southern Africa, mainly living in woodland habitats, as well as heavily wooded gardens and parks. It has a broad and varied diet, eating a wide variety of animals, rarely eating fish.

Why is there so little support for Bafana Bafana? On Wednesday evening this week Bafana Bafana played to a goalless draw in their start for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). The game was played in Cape Town with many of the seats still available just before the game. The fact is that Bafana Bafana is the one national sports team that is not drawing the united support from South Africans as the Springboks or Proteas. In fact, compared to Club support, Bafana Bafana’s support is dismal. On Tuesday, ahead of the game against Nigeria, only about 25 000 tickets were sold – even though ticket sales had been open for about a month. This was about half the available seats for the game. In stark comparison to this, the game between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final on 20 September sold out in approximately four hours. Platinum Gazette asked readers why they think Bafana Bafana is facing such poor support compared to the Clubs.
Me. Cindy Bruwer sê: “Ek dink dit is omdat die spanne sleg gekies word”. By haar is Charlene.
Above: Mr Thabiso Rapuleng said: “There is no consistency in Bafana Bafana. They chop and change coaches. Now they plan for 2022 and they want to play against teams like Nigeria with an inexperienced squad. I support both Bafana and Chiefs, but I’ll rather go for a Chiefs game”.
Mr Thato Moeng said: “Bafana Bafana has disappointed us so many times. We don’t believe in them anymore. They are like politicians. If you go there to play or coach, they pay you a lot of money and they make lots of promises, but they never deliver. I’m a Chiefs fan and choosing between a Bafana or Chiefs game I’ll pick the Chiefs game because I know we won’t lose. Maybe draw, but not lose”.
Mr Frans Makhubedu said: “We are familiar with our Club teams. I support Kaizer Chiefs. I like them more than Bafana Bafana. Bafana is always changing their coach that is why they don’t grow. We must give the new coach enough time to train the team”. Regs: Me. Liezl Harmse sê: “Die meeste van die tyd verloor hulle. Die rugby het darem al 2 keer bekers huis toe gebring, maar nie Bafana nie”.
Mr Brilliant Mkhabela and Mr Whitty Matome said: “The continuous change of coaches and foreign coaches are some of the problems. A coach is not given enough time. They don’t look hard enough for local coaches. Bafana has disappointed us so many times that many people don’t want to watch them anymore. Maybe this will change if they qualify for the Afcon. The build-up system is also not given enough time”.
Mr Tshepo Tjia and Mr Themba Mohubedu said: “They are too full of pride. They don’t care about their country. They just care about the money. We hate Bafana Bafana but we are behind our teams Chiefs and Pirates”.
Mr Joseph Malepe said: “Some people do support Bafana Bafana. People don’t watch the games of Bafana because they’ve been losing too much in the past. Maybe the new coach will make it better. I’d rather go to a Kaizer Chiefs game than a Bafana one”.
Mr TN Phaswane said: “The problem is that Bafana Bafana is not performing. This changing coaches like socks is not working. They must give the coaches some time. Rome was not build in one day. Everytime they change, people have to adapt. With Bafana we give a coach 1 month and he must perform, but with our government 20 years is too little to show proper progress. I’m a Sundowns fan and I’ll rather watch them than Bafana”.
Mr Vasco Tavette said: “We don’t support them because they lose most of the time. Pirates and Chiefs give us nice games. I’m a Chiefs fan and will rather go to one of their games than to watch Bafana Mr Gilbert Theko said: The spirit Bafana”. With him is Winnie. within the boys at the Clubs are one of unity, but that spirit is not in the national team. The momentum in the national team was lost. They just chop and change, especially with coaches. They also don’t talk to the nation while the club owners give back to the supporters. They don’t keep to themselves. I’m a Pirates fan and will definitely rather go watch them than Bafana”.
Mr Stephen Maile said: “Bafana plays terrible. They took players with different types of games that is why they play like this and people don’t want to watch. If they can start playing well, we’ll appreciate it”.
Mr Robert Moropane said: “The communication is not good enough. They are always creating new teams for Bafana Bafana. That is why we don’t give Bafana much support. I’m a Pirates fan”.
Ms Lilly Shabe said: “Many people are disappointed with them and are now rather supporting rugby. We can only go back and support them if they improve. I’m a Kaizer Chiefs fan and will rather watch one of their games”.
Mnr. Tom Bronkhorst sê: “Hulle maak nie eintlik opspraak nie. Die klubs se sokker is baie meer opwindend”. By hom is Tommie.
Ms Lyvia Mokoena said: “Maybe it is because there are too many players from opposition teams playing in Bafana. They have no love for each other. I’m a Chiefs supporter, but I’ll choose the Bafana game when they play”.
Mr Ben Madigage said: “It’s because they are losing so much. There is no hope for that team, but we must encourage them. If they can improve it, maybe people will support them again. I’d rather watch an Amakosi game”.
Mr Frans Matsepane said: “Bafana has been losing for quite some time. Now that we have a new coach, maybe it will be different. Maybe the rhythm he set will continue and it will motivate the supporters as well. I’m actually a Mamelodi Sundowns fan”.
Mr Gert Pipolelo, Mr Justice Mogotho and Mr Noah Kgwetiene said: “The Bafana players are from other teams. People are jealous of the ball and they don’t share the ball to win a game. They also don’t practice together. We hope they start winning now, because in the past, they’ve always been losing. They never take anything. In any type of cup, they just lose!”

Tubatse Masters and Samancor ECM battles it out By half time the score was 0-0 as both teams kept their defences On 4 September 2014 the Tubatse Masters played a friendly game against Samancor ECM at the Mangabane Sports Ground. The game started with fire when both teams displayed some good football. The created many opportunities but unfortunately failed to score. The halftime score was 0-0. In the second half both teams continued where they left off in the first half. The goalkeepers were however just too good and the players from both sides struggled to beat them. Just a few minutes before the end of the game, Tubatse Masters’ Suprise Godi scored the only goal of the match. He received a good pass from Lekgotla Motswiane and placed in the net. The final score was 1-0 in favour of Tubatse Masters. (Photographs: Lollipop Motswiane; Information: Jerial Movundlela).

Masters take each other on The Tubatse Masters hosted Malokeka Masters for a friendly soccer game at the Sekhukhune FET College in Praktiseer on Saturday last week. From the first whistle, Malokeka dominated the ball possession and kept on threatening
the Tubatse defence. Tubatse Masters were not intimidated and their defence proofed to be solid while the team worked together to create scoring opportunities. This paid off late in the first half when Sam Tshwane got an opportunity to take a long range pick, just a few metres from the centre. This kick proved to be too much for the Malokeka goalkeeper and it landed in the back of the net. The visitors tried to level the score when they got an opportunity to place a penalty shot in the net. Unfortunately Masakaneng Mokwena took his penalty over the poles. The half time score was 1-0 in favour of Tubatse Masters. In the second half the
visitors’ Amos Ndlovu balanced things out when he scored just a few minutes after the restart. Tubatse Masters dominated the ball possession in the second half and created many opportunities to score. They however only managed to convert two of these into goals. Andrew Skosana and Seun Maroga both scored goals for Tubatse Masters in the second half of the game. The scored then stood at 3-1. The visiting team fought back, determined to see the back of the net again. This determination delivered them two more goals by Masakaneng Mokwena. The final score was 3-3.
