Thank you Ngululu! Steelpoort’s filth cleaned by transport company Steelpoort’s mass rubbish containers are spick and span. On Friday morning while delivering newspapers, Platinum Gazette’s team saw people placing rubbish into black bags at the mass containers that looked so awful last week (see p1 one of last week’s newspaper). On Saturday, on our way to Jane Furse, it was so clean around this particular mass container that you could eat from the ground if scrubbed with soap. But alas, everything was not what it seemed to be. The containers and town were not cleaned by THEM (the local municipality), but by Ngululu Bulk Carriers who decided to do the company’s bit for the community in this regard. Four points in town were identified in collaboration with Town Management to clean as the muicipality still claimed broken down equipment and vehicles. “It is not only unhygenic, but also creates a poor impresssion of the area and are bad for tourism” says Ngululu. Steelpoort Management have also expressed their gratitude towards Ngululu in a letter to newspapers in the area.

Spekboom River Estate welcomes the Ferreiras

Spekboom River Estate is rapidly growing from an uninhabited piece of land to the dream eco-estate the developers envisaged more than eight years ago. Two of the newest residents on the property are Deleen and Banie Ferreira. This couple lives in one of the recently finished homes and will be the on-site agents. They moved to Burgersfort during June after they were the agents for Die Oog Aftree Landgoed near Mookgophong (Naboomspruit). Deleen has more than 25 years experience in the real estate business. They also ran their own real estate agency in Alberton for 16 years. “We are very excited about Burgersfort and about Spekboom River Estate. We are positive about the growth potential of the area and that people buying property will truly make an investment into their future,” they said. Elements at Spekboom River Estate that excite them are the school that will start at pre-primary level next year and will grow into a full-blown school that can accommodate learners up to grade 12 and the shopping complex that will be constructed in the coming months. The lack of schools and shops are two of the major issues that in the past made people choose to rather stay far away from their work in neighbouring towns. “We love the estate’s bushveld atmosphere. It is also one of the only places in the area where you can buy a river front stand and where children will be able to safely walk to school or ride on their bicycles. “The other important benefit of Spekboom River Estate is the fact that it caters for everyone in the sense of stand sizes, house plans etc. Here you can still get an affordable home and all the benefits of a modern ecoestate coupled with conveniences such as the school

and shopping complex”. Home sizes vary from 120m2 to 250m2 and larger. The Ferreiras will be providing a one-stop service to clients. They will provide assistance with choosing the right property for the client’s needs, helping them apply for finance (Cranbrook Property Projects have their own bond originators) and finally assisting with getting the home build on the purchased property. Apart from the show houses, homes are already being constructed for clients who chose to buy at Spekboom River Estate. The infra-structure has been completed and when a client gets finance approval they could be moving into their newly build home as soon as 3 months after the approval. Living on the property make the couple different from other agents. They know what are the benefits, and can advise clients an all aspects of estate living, house plans etc. “We are living in one of the homes here and know what we like about it – from experience”. They are not into sweet talking clients into buying the biggest stand or house, but rather assisting them in making an informed choice about something that will be a long-term investment. “A client must feel happy about their choice and know that they will be able to afford what they are buying”. “We are here to provide a service and look forward to the challenges ahead. We would like to invite buyers to visit us at the sales office”. The sales office is situated on the estate and is open from 08:00 to 17:00 on weekdays. The couple will also be available to assist clients after hours and on weekends by appointment. To make an appointment call them on 084 403 2480 or e-mail them at spekboomsales@cranbrook.co.za

‘Dwars’, LIBSA and SEKFET bring joy Thirteen entrepreneur companies in the Greater Tubatse Municipality celebrated on Wednesday after successfully completing an incubate programme of the Limpopo Business Support Agency, which was sponsored by Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine. Classes were conducted by the Sekhukhune College for Further Education and Training. Gathering at the Tubatse Chrome Club on Wednesday representatives form all roleplayers, as well as the incubate companies explained their role up to now, as well as the way forward. The LIBSA programme entails that fledling entrepreneur companies are readied for the business world. In this regard Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine assisted with initially identifying 15 companies and sponsored their training. 13 of these companies successfully completed the skills training, which included computer training for administration and bookkeeping purposes. In this regard Dwarsrivier also donated a powerful computer with all software to run a small business to the companies, which was handed over to the new companies with their skill training certificates. Senior General Manager of ‘Dwars’, Mr Francois Uys, said not only did they complete their training, but that three of the companies are already contracted by the mine, one of them building a new office block. He highlighted the role of each roleplayer, stressing that people should not forget the love of Jesus as an important aspect in the whole process. Other speakers stressed that people should not only look at mines for employment, but they should empower themselves with skills to create jobs and build a future for themselves in the general business environment. The proceedings were concluded with a hearty meal. Mr Uys was presented with a knobkierie and shield by the incubate companies, symbolising his role in their success. Will you give 67 minutes? On Monday 18 July Nelson Mandela will turn 93 years old. To celebrate his birthday and the contribution towards changing people’s lives, Mandela Day is being celebrated. This initiative encourages people to take 67 minutes of their time to do something for other people, their community or the environment. In November 2009 the United Nations declared 18 July as Nelson Mandela International Day. The Mandela Day slogan is: “Take action. Inspire change. Make every day a Mandela day”. The broad theme is ‘change’. In 2009 Nelson Mandela said: “We can change the world and make of it a better place. It is in your hands to make a difference” . We asked readers whether they are planning to give 67 minutes of their time and what they will be doing to help others and bring about change. Young and old was ready to share their ways of giving and bringing change.

Mnr. Daniël en Me Rose Morena sê: Ja, ons gaan by iemand wat oud is soos Mandela, kuier. Iemand wat ons opgepas het.” Mnr. Francois Dekker sê: “Ek gaan niks doen nie want ek ry Pretoria toe”.

Ms Meisie Moraba and Ms Frieda Mmola said: “We are going to clean Burgersfort town in 67 minutes. We wish Madiba a very nice birthday”.

Mr Given Mafane said: “On Monday I’ll spend my 67 minutes with my Uncle to celebrate Madiba Day. I’ll also teach learners for free at my driving school. I wish Madiba the best of luck”. Mr Charlie Mkondo said: “I will never have 67 minutes to do something for my community. I’ll be here at work, taking 60 minutes to try and make sense of everything”.

Mnr. Phillip en me. Louise Roetz sê: “Die 67 minute gee is ‘n goeie plan. Ons sal iets doen, maar het nog nie besluit wat nie. Ons hoop Mandela verjaar lekker”. Mr Willy Baloyi said: “I’ll take 67 minutes to pray for everybody who does not understand the way of God. I’ll pray only for others, not for myself”.

Ways to change our world

Mr Katlego Selahle and Ms Maria Maile said: “We’ll go and clean papers in town because we’ll be working in town. Congratulations to Madiba and we wish him many good days ahead”.

Mr Litre Makuwa said: “On Monday I’ll celebrate Madiba’s birthday. We’ll celebrate with colleagues and learners. We’ll party and we’ll clean the testing ground in Praktiseer”.

Mr Johannes Moagi said: “I’ll be on leave to do specifically something good. I’ll be at our church at Leboeng and we’ll be cleaning. God bless Madiba!”

Mr Amos Ndlovu said: “I’ll stay with my family and we’ll pray and then go out to tell people about God’s power”.

Biker Church service in Steelpoort On Sunday 10 July a Biker church service took place at the AFM Church in Steelpoort. The sermon for the morning was delivered by Rene Changouin, the president of the Christian Motorcycle Association. The

message of the day encouraged everyone present to make sure that they know their road ahead is a road with Jesus Christ. After the service the motorcyclists went to Lydenburg to have lunch.

Almal is welkom! Tubatse Gospel choir aims to unearth talent In an area where alcohol abuse are rife and limited opportunities for young people are available, a group of talented youngsters took the initiative to start creating their own opportunities. They started the Tubatse Gospel Choir. Currently they are practicing 13 different songs and have members between the ages of 14 and 20 years old. They are practising twice a week and are based in Rietfontein (Kgautswane) near Ohrigstad. “We want to unearth talent and give young people opportunities to showcase themselves,” said Mr Coldrick Makhubedu, one of the members of the group. They are currently seeking sponsorship for various musical instruments and equipment needed when performing in front of large groups. They are also busy organising a musical event that will give artists from all genres a chance to showcase their talents. At the moment they are mostly performing at churches and schools in the area, but would like to expand to other areas and functions as well. “We know it is important to run this the right way. That is why we have a committee to look after everything. This includes the finances and sponsorships we may receive”. People who would like to invite them for a performance or who will be able assist them with either financial sponsorship, or the donation of equipment can contact them on 078 608 7128 or 084 984 8592 or e-mail tubatsegospelchoir@live.com

From 7 to 9 July 13 players from The Winterveld Buffels rugby club, participated in the annual Sub-Union Limpopo rugby tournament, held in Polokwane. They formed part of a team - Sentraal (white and red jerseys); consisting of players from Winterveld, Polokwane Dorp’s club and Groblersdal Loskop club. The first round was played on Thursday, against Mopanie. “We won the match 15-5, all three tries were scored by players from our club. This victory secured our position in the final” said Charl van der Merwe from the Club. “Friday, we played 7’s. In the first round, we won Mopanie 49-12, the second round we won Waterberg 24-17 and then we lost against Vembe in the final 5924. On Saturday afternoon, the u/23 team played their final against Waterberg. We unfortunately lost the final 22-10. Waterberg also won the Senior division of the tournament, congratulations to them. It was the fourth year in a row that they won both the divisions. Players throughout the whole tournament have been selected for the Lowveld Amateur team, the team will be announced during this week, hopefully before the paper is printed”. “To our club members who participated: well done guys, you have accomplished a lot within

less than a year as a registered rugby club. We started our season on a very low, but you have proved that with the right attitude and determination, goals can be achieved and score boards can tell another story. The community, committee and parents, are very proud of you! “I would like to thank the employers of our club members who granted them leave to participate in this tournament. Then I would like to thank our sponsors for their contributions towards this tournament, without them, this would have been a complete different ball game... Marula Mine for the transport for the duration of the tournament and to their driver, Sydney; Pick & Pay Steelpoort Damion; Asa-Metals - Emsie Henderson; Elektro Diesel Steelpoort - Christo and Melany; Stone Age Roadhouse Polokwane - Willem Oosthuizen; Eastern Chrome Mines for the water and accessories.
