VBS Mutual Bank update The Limpopo Provincial Treasury has announced that it has appointed a forensic investigator to determine any irregularities on the investments of Limpopo municipalities into the Venda Building Society (VBS) Mutual Bank. The appointment follows the Limpopo Executive Council directive that the Provincial Treasury must immediately commence with a forensic audit in order to determine whether the 10 Municipalities namely Polokwane, Makhuduthamaga, Elias Motsoaledi, Makhado, Ephraim Mogale, Collins Chabane, Vhembe District, Greater Giyani, Lepelle-Nkumpi and Fetakgomo Tubatse flouted any legal provisions when they invested funds with Venda Building Society. The Executive Council will only act once the investigation has been completed. In its meeting, EXCO has indicated that in instance where the laws and regulations be found to have been transgressed, actions need to be taken against the offending officials. The affected officials will have to account. In the same meeting, the Premier Chupu Stanley Mathabatha strongly emphasised that serious actions will be taken against those implicated once the forensic investigation is completed. Out of those ten (10) above-mentioned municipalities, investments for three (3) municipalities have matured and both investment and interest have been paid to the municipalities, namely Polokwane, Makhuduthamaga and Elias-Motsoaledi. The remaining seven (7) municipalities still have their invested funds with VBS Mutual Bank, namely Ephraim Mogale, Lepelle-Nkumpi, Fetakgomo Tubatse, Makhado, Vhembe, Greater-Giyani and Collins Chabane.

The dona ons were received with great joy as learners sang and cheered in thanks for the gesture. One of the teachers said: “We are thankful for these shoes and socks. There is such a great need for basics like school shoes and many parents simply cannot afford to replace the shoes the children outgrow so quickly. Especially in winter when temperatures drop significantly in the early morning disadvantaged learners feel the pain of not having good shoes”.

SANRAL roadshow in Burgersfort

“We have noticed the one kilometre paved road improvement in our home area and the assistance our ward councillor is doing during funerals. The ward councillor Mr Mahlake is always busy trying to help in the community. He provided us with TLB machines during funerals and some of the community members are also playing their part during trying times. Regards, Mr Jenny Mogolane Phala”.

The South African National Road Agency Limited (SANRAL) held a roadshow in Burgersfort last week. The agency visited the local municipality on Friday and a public awareness campaign was held at Tubatse Crossing Mall on Saturday. The virtual reality obstacle course proved to be very popular with the public. Before you get on your high horse, the only roads SANRAL are responsible for in this area is the R555, the R36, the R37 and R532 from the R36 up to the Limpopo / Mpumalanga border (near the turn-off to Phiring). SANRAL also has no nearby road projects in our municipality. So, if you want to complain about other roads (not municipal streets), call RAL (Road Agency Limpopo). They are supposed to be responsible.

So, what do you think?

John 11:25-26 NIV Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Came in just as we were about to go to print yesterday morning. SMS us what you think of this one on 0835431676 or 0832719151.
