USMMEO starting to move The United Small Medium Micro Entreprise Organisation (USMMEO) had is second meeting this week. Chairperson Joel Magabe told the meeting at Papa V Lodge just outside Burgersfort that after the first meeting the formation of small enterprises in an organisation to act as a collective has become even more important in the light of the troubling economy, especially locally where job losses are taking a massive toll. He stressed the organisation’s non-racial and non-politicial character, saying that everyone must work together to create an income and jobs. He also stated that USMMEO is not and organisation for tenderpreneurs, but for people who try and grow their own small busineses in the economy, thereby creating economic stability, growth and job creation. The audience also got the opportunity to ask questions about the organisation and its aims. SMMEs who want to find out more about the organisation can phone 072-7080-315.
Better! The narrow and difficult traffic lanes in Dirk Winterbach Street, Burgersfort, have been widened again. Now you don’t have to chop off a piece of your car, (or have somebody drive it off for you ...)

Kgoshi Mnisi’s Free rabies vaccinations remains taken home On Friday 19 February 2016 the family of the late Kgoshi Mdungazi Jokisa Mnisi led by Dr Muzilela Joshua Jacob Mnisi exhumed His remains from the Smutsfield farm 446 KT portion 01 at Ohrigstad to be reburied at Kotsiri Graveyard, Schoonoord farm 362 after more than 90 years. According to the family, the late king was buried in 1923 at that farm. The reason for the exhumation is that the family wants to rebury the remains of their relatives in the place of their choice at Kotsiri Graveyard. The process of exhuming was done by Martins Funeral Undertakers from Lydenburg with the permission from the Mpumalanga Department of Environmental Health at Nelspruit. The police at Ohrigstad escorted the family to the farm to ensure that the process to exhume is done properly without any disturbance. Traffic sign trouble Illegal signage and posters on traffic signs is a big problem in Burgersfort. This week Mr Moses Mosoma (above) explained that people should follow the rules and pay for putting up posters and signage at the municipality. The illegal posters are currently in the process of being taken down and owners of businesses using this method of advertising without following the rules could face being fined. People should keep in mind that it is against the law to put any type of advertising signage on a road traffic sign. A team is also busy with maintenance for the traffic lights in town. They will be working in the next few weeks. Replacing dead lights, correcting ones that had been blown by the wind and hit by reckless drivers.

Angels at Bogwasha Primary School Children in need this week benefitted from the generosity of the ‘Angels’. They are a group of women who decided to make a difference in appreciation of the plenty they have. Many of the group’s members work at Samancor Chrome, but they use their own resources to fund the project that was started a few years ago. They also collect dona-
tions from busiensses who would like to support their cause. They annually provide school uniforms to needy learners. This week they delivered specially packed gift bags to learners at Bogwasha Primary School The school’s principal, Mr DM Moshoana praised their efforts and thanked them for the help. (Information & photographs: Mr DM Moshoana) “16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. 17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.” James 5:16-18 NIV

GTM and Fetakgomo merging into The ‘marriage’ between Greater Tubatse Municipality (GTM) and Fetakgomo Municipality is underway with the two merging to create a mini-metro size municipality under the Greater Tubatse name. Traditionally GTM is the ‘richer’ municipality of all five within the Sekhukhune District. Fetakgomo covers a 1105km2 area with its seat in Apel. It has 13 wards. According to the 2011 census this municipality has approximately 94 000 residents. In the past the Fatakgomo administration has been praised by the Auditor General for their good work earning them some clean audit results. GTM will remain the command centre for the now bigger municipal area. The Fetakgomo Wards will be systematically incorporated into GTM. The process for this incorporation has been coming for months with residents having had the opportunity to submit objections during a consultation period last year July and August. Platinum Gazette asked readers what they are thinking about the ‘marriage’ between GTM and Fetakgomo.
Mr Gadson Komane said: “Fetakgomo does not have any source of income like the mines. Now they will share in the wealth of Tubatse. It won’t be bad for the people of Tubatse because the people of Fetakgomo will bring new ideas of how to do service delivery”.
Mr Tebogo Mashabela said: “It will be better if they combine the municipalities. GTM residents suffer because we don’t have services. The national government will now give more money for service delivery. Things will be better”.
Ms Thembi Kodibona and Ms Ouma Mohlala said: “It will be a good thing for them to merge. There will be more support from national government if the municipality is bigger”.
Me. Mariska Sadler sê: “GTM doen in elk geval nie veel nie, so die dienslewering kan seker nie eintlik slegter nie. Hopelik sal dit eerder beter gaan met ‘n groter munisipaliteit”.
Mr Samuel Mpho Hlongwa said: “I believe it is likely to enhance service delivery in GTM. They’ll bring together skills from both municipalities and it will reduce costs while maximizing service delivery on one budget. The down side is that it might create a redundancy in terms of staff”. With him is his wife Violet.
Ms Mantwa Motau, Ms Mbali Sobupha, Ms Timnah Seleme, Ms Lerato Lesufi and Mr Sello Mamogale said: “Merging the two municipalities is not a solution for anything. The leadership style is the problem. You cannot make the people love the leadership and vote for them. The people’s love comes from the heart and you cannot force that. They’ve been losing love for the ANC in Fetakgomo, but they don’t realize that they cannot force people to vote for the ANC. They must remember that it is no guarantee that the ANC will win in this municipality – even with the two now being combined. Tubatse residents will have to carry the Fetakgomo communities as they don’t have big sources of income. People should remember that when they go to vote for a party later in the year, to vote for a party who can deliver a better future and not because of loyalty to a party who did something in the past. We need people who can deliver now”.
Ms Cathy Sithole said: “I don’t think this is a good idea. The bigger the municipality, the bigger the problem. This merger is just politically motivated. The people won’t benefit. This is why people want their own municipalities - because if the municipalities are too big, they cannot provide properly”.

one muncipality - your thoughts
Mr Moi Pilom and Mr SA Khumalo said: “They should have started delivering services in GTM properly before merging. How will everyone get services now?”
Ms Mpho Ramontja and Ms Refilwe Masete said: “It is a good thing that they are combining the municipalities. It will provide jobs to the unemployed. The municipality will grow and meet the living standard people want and they will now get the services they need”.
Left: Mr Moses Mogane said: “It will be a big problem. They cannot afford to provide services. They could not afford to provide services in the small GTM, how will they manage a bigger one?” Ms. Nkhensani Mashakeni and Ms Khomotso Maile said: “It won’t be better. Currently GTM cannot even deliver. How will they do it when the people of Fetakgomo are also part of us? It is also geographically not practical. How will they manage it? Are there enough resources to manage it? How will they in future communicate with communities to make sure that even those in the furthest corners know what is happening? They’ve not communicated this merger well. There should have been lots of big adverts in the newspapers and over the radio. They should have come face to face with us. Many people are living far away and don’t have money for batteries or electricity so they don’t even have radio or newspapers to know about these things. They’ve not consulted properly about this”.
Ms Deborah Leshaba said: “It will not be easy with the two together because many places have a shortage of service delivery. Even where I am staying at Kopi, Doornhoek there is no water, electricity, sanitation, roads and the RDPs are just standing without progress. We don’t know what is happening. We are also fighting to try and get a high school in our village.” Mr Vuyo Brandsel said: “This merger is just a politically motivated thing to win the next local election. They are obviously aware of the EFF’s influence in Fetakgomo”. With him are Vuyokasie and Willow.
Right: Ms Bonny McKinlay said: “The people who have been waiting years for services in Tubatse are now going to be waiting longer. It is unfair to the communities of GTM “.
Left: Ms Rachel Bengura and Ms Patience Bengura said: “For whatever reason they’ve done it, it will be better. It will be one team giving better service delivery. Both the people of Fetakgomo and Tubatse will benefit from this”.
Mr Ben Moshwane said: “It will be a good thing because if there are too many municipalities they just eat the money. If they are joined together, it is better and service delivery will be better. They have my support. They are following in the footsteps of our president who don’t want offices in Cape Town and Pretoria. One place is the way to go. It will save costs”.
Mr Tseko Malepe said: “The ANC was panicking and that is why they are incorporating the Fetakgomo Municipality into Greater Tubatse. It is because the EFF is very strong in Fetakgomo. Now the ANC comrades will go around Fetakgomo and deliver food parcels to win votes for the coming election. If they’ve not merged they were sure to lose that municipality to the EFF. They’ve failed to do basic service delivery before incorporating the two. How will they now be able to deliver when they are bigger? The ANC knows how to play dirty games. They are afraid of the EFF. They should not forget that the DA is also growing. Soon people will only talk about the EFF and DA and not the ANC. We are ready. Even if they are one municipality, they won’t wins the local election. The ANC is out”.
Ms Mpho Mashoeu said: “I think the municipality will be reinforced now. It will be bigger and better. Maybe now that they are joining us, our services will be delivered fast because we’ve been waiting for so long. Hopefully the support from the provincial and national government will now be bigger”.
Mnr. Johannes Maphori sê: “Ons munisipaliteit is beter en dit sal beter wees vir die mense van Fetakgomo. Ons sal nie langer wag vir dienslewering nie”.

‘Family outing’ with Isuzu KB
“Let’s go for a family outing” Westvaal Steelpoort’s sales guru, Mr Timothy Chowles, suggested when we arrived on Tuesday to take the new updated Isuzu KB 300 LX 4 x 2 bakkie for a test drive. He could barely contain his excitement as he did not drive the vehicle before, and he could finally see what we do when we take a car for a spin before we write our report. The bakkie is roomy as Mr Chowles demonstrated as he fitted his six foot (old language) frame into the back seat (this was sit-behind-self, so one six-footer will comfortably fit behind same individual in the front seat). Combined with a large load bay, the bakkie will comfortably haul four adults with luggage anywhere you want to go, except maybe an extreme 4 x 4 route. The vehicle is decked out in black leather, a brilliant entertainment system and all the normal safety features you can think of when its 130 kW 380 Nm turbodiesel engine starts spinning, smooth and non-intrusive. The driver’s seat is electrically adjustable and front and side airbags for driver and passenger are standard. The bakkie has keyless entry as well as daylight running lights which can be criticised for their location where the fog lamps ought to be. When travelling a dangerous pass in this area in the mist, fog lights is a must and we are not sure that the visibility of the bakkie will not be impaired with the LED daylights. Otherwise the bakkie drives like a dream and can easily be anyone’s dream daily commute, work and vacation vehicle. The newspaper’s editor, after getting engrossed in conversation with Mr Chowles, saw that he was hopelessly over the speed limit, and missed a gravel road turn-off for the gravel test. A quick (very quick) brake test and u-turn on a dime corrected the mistake. On gravel, bad gravel, the vehicle is exemplary. Then back to Steelpoort with advertising guru Beánnla Cellier’s turn to drive (see photographs). The vehicle can be had for R486900. Phone Westvaal Steelpoort on 013 230 9230 if you want one.
She . . . .
did this at 120 km/h (deliberately). The bakkie did not flinch. The Electronic Stability Control works extremely well. Yes, the editor was afraid.

Learn to identify The local branch (Bosbok) of the SA Hunters and Game Conservation Association held their first of five conservation courses this year outside Burgersfort. The aim of the courses is to equip not only members of the association, but any other interested parties with better knowledge of nature and the conservation of our beautiful world. Neels Bothma, a well-know Herpetologist (Snake Expert) taught the students the finer details of snake identification, snake handling and snake bite first aid.For more details on the Conservation Courses visit their website: www. bosbok.co.za or their facebook page - Bosbok branch.Remember: Dull/Matt (skinned) snakes
are Dangerous. Shiny/Glossy (skinned) snakes are Safe. Stripes across their body are very venomous. Stripes along the body (head to tip) are venomous but not deadly to humans. Never try to pickup snakes even dead ones. Don’t kill or try to kill a snake even when it has bitten someone rather help the person that was bitten and call for help. Snakes are part of our world and killing them will cause other problems eg. more mice and rats.If you don’t want snakes near your house, don’t attract mice and rats to the place where you stay by keeping your house clean and tidy by disposing of food scraps in proper bags and rubbish bins.(Information & photographs: JB Willers)
