Urban Trash Receptacle A contemporary trash receptacle in this historically rich community should reference what once was. That is why a metal mesh wrap in a unique contemporary form is a great solution. The metal mesh references the original urban trash receptacle while the unique form shows the relationship to contemporary society. alice hernandez victor jones arch 502 february 17, 2010

~ planter Planters are urban artifacts that depend on their multiplicity to define space, delineate boundaries, and enhance the landscape by adding greenery. Due to the large extension of the site, the planter is designed as a modular piece of urban furnishing in order to avoid monotony as it is replicated. Made of 1/8 thick steel sheet metal, the planter can be placed in different positions in order to hold different plant sizes and the planters themselves can be stacked vertically to act as a wall or barrier and define space. Unused planters can be used as chairs; its cubed shape measures 18 on each side, providing a suitable sitting height.
