Leave Process

SIGNING OUT All students must be signed in and out of the Boarding House by a staff member any time they take leave. Parents/guardians must always come into the Boarding House and collect or return boarders.

Online leave is managed through Reach. An invitation is sent to you to join the online leave program at the start of the year. Please see Portal for details on Reach.

WEEKEND OVERNIGHT LEAVE 1. All leave requests are to be authorised by a parent or guardian living in Australia. This is to be completed by Wednesday afternoon. 2. Requests received later than Wednesday afternoon may not be approved. 3. It is the responsibility of the guardian or parent to make contact with any host family. 4. If visiting a Day friend’s home, confirmation from the Day School parent is required in addition to the leave request form and the parent’s email is included in the Host section of Leave.

5. All school commitments must be fulfilled prior to leave being granted.

All Year 7 to 11 boarders returning for a school activity when on leave must be accompanied by an adult. 6. Year 7 to 10 students are permitted on public transport on Mondays and Fridays in the company of the day students only. Full school uniform is to be worn when travelling after school and returning on Monday the same as day students. 7. Year 11 and 12 students may travel home alone before 4.00 pm by train when on weekend leave.

WEEKEND DAY LEAVE: Friday/Saturday • Year 7 to 9 boarders must have parent permission for weekend day leave and be escorted by an adult. • Accompanied Year 7 to 12 boarders must be in the Boarding House by 9.30 pm. • Unaccompanied Year 11 and 12 boarders must be in the Boarding House by 5.00 pm. • Year 12 may negotiate special leave with the Director of Boarding on Wednesday for weekend movie/dinner leave. • On Sunday, all returning boarders are to be in the Boarding House by 8.30 pm in the company of an adult.

DAY LEAVE DURING SCHOOL HOURS • Requests for day leave during school hours are to be sent to the Boarding House

Office and approval given by the Deputy Principal or Director of Boarding. • Overnight leave during the week may be permitted under special circumstances.

A letter of request is required, and is generally only in the company of a parent.

COLLECTION OF STUDENTS Students flying into Australia are required to be collected from the airport by their guardians. All boarders are to be collected and returned to the Boarding House by their guardians, parents or approved visitors. No taxis, trains or buses permitted. See Student Concierge Information on Boarding Portal if further assistance is needed as an approved organisation.

EARLY LEAVE All students are required to be in the College until the end of every term. For early leave requests, parents must consult with the Deputy Principal in writing well in advance of departure and complete an ‘Application for Extended Leave Travel Vacation’ form, found in the Parent Portal under Absentee.

AFTERNOON WEEKDAY LEAVE Croydon Boarders may walk to Croydon after school. Students in Years 7 to 10 must go in pairs or groups for no longer than one hour. Year 11 and 12 students may go unaccompanied. All boarders must be signed out on departure and signed in on return.

Burwood/Ashfield Year 7 to 9 students must request leave from staff to go to Burwood. Students in Year 10 may go to Burwood in pairs for up to four hours on weekends and Year 11 may go to Burwood or Ashfield in pairs and/or groups with approval from staff. Year 12 may go any afternoon unaccompanied with approval from staff. All boarders must sign out on departure and sign in on return.

City Year 11 students may go to the city on Friday afternoons or weekends in pairs or groups with day leave request submitted on Wednesday. Year 12 may go to the city in pairs any afternoon. Staff must be informed. All boarders must be signed out on departure and signed in on return. All students must return before 5.00 pm or the privilege is removed.
