One of the few things on the earth that I care about is you.
Introduction
Experiencing life so far from home has made me realize what and whom I truly love and value. One of them is my twelve-year old little sister, Prang, who lives in Thailand. The passing of our mother six years ago placed me in a very important role: to be a sister, a mother and friend to Prang. Leaving to study in the United States has limited my involvement in her life. While there is no evidence or obvious signs of this distance adversely affecting our relationship, I believe that we are not close enough. Communication with her consists of telephone conversations, e-mail, instant messaging and letters; it is better than nothing, but I wanted to ďŹ nd or create another way to really get in touch with her. Our father, brothers and relatives support and take care of her physical needs; the school Copyright Š 2005 Nithiruedee Pleum Chenaphun All rights reserved. provides for her intellectual growth; and her friends go through life with her. Even so, I want to take an active part in guiding, teaching and nurturing her, as a good sister should do.

Don’t shut love out of your life by saying it’s impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.
