People from Britain tend to book Spain for their sun holidays away as it offers so much more than the typical destination. There are many theme parks here, which have the latest adrenaline rides which are the envy of the rest of Europe. With so many rides available it's hard to work out which ones are the best. The list below gives the top 10 theme park rides in Spain and where they can be found. 10. Flight of the Phoenix - Terra Mitica Theme Park, Benidorm. Based on the legend of the Phoenix, this is a drop-tower ride from a tower 70 metres tall. When the car gets to the top of the tower, it free-falls 54 metres, giving a 120 km/h accelerated fall. Scary! 9. El Jaguar - Isla Magica, Seville. It was the first inverted roller coaster in Spain and still attracts many visitors. Located in the Amazonia area of the park, it is a roller coaster ride with 360 degree turns, five inversions and if that wasn't enough, there's a final helix! Stomach-churning! 8. SynKope -Terra Mitica Theme park, Benidorm. This theme park is an absolute must for those going on Costa Blanca holidays. Built around the theme of ancient civilisations, the park is divided into 5 zones. Synkope is found in the Greece zone - a giant discus that spins at an angle of 120 degrees and at a speed of 90 km/h. Dizzy! 7. Abyss - Parque de Atracciones, Madrid. This is a roller-coaster ride with a difference. You drop into the Abyss from a height of 49 metres and then are taken on a death-defying ride with twists and inversions, reaching speeds of 100 km/h. Chilling! 6. The Revenge of the Enigma - Parque Warner, Madrid. This is a drop tower ride. The car slowly climbs to the height of the 100 metre tower, then without warning, the cars suddenly drop, reaching speeds of 80 km/h. Just as death seems inevitable, the car slows down and safely deposits you on the ground. Frightening! 5. The Time Machine - Parque de Atracciones, Madrid. This is a giant circle that performs horizontal movements of up to 180 degrees whilst rotating on its
axis. It incorporates a double twist as well as vertical scrolling. Not suitable for sensitive stomachs! 4. Furius Baco - Port Aventura, Salou, Tarragona This is Europe's fastest roller coaster ride racing form zero to 135 km/h in just 3 seconds. The park aims to get through 1500 riders per hour on this attraction but it's worth coming here on late holidays when the queues aren't so big. Speedy! 3. Inferno - Terra Mitica Theme Park, Benidorm. This roller coaster ride sees riders being launched at speeds of 60 km/h whilst riding upwards, downwards, forwards and backwards. The ride lasts for a minute which seems long enough! 2. Hurakan - Port Aventura, Salou, Tarragona This is a drop tower ride. The 115 metre high tower has five cars stationed around it. As they climb to the top, there is a flash, the couplers detach and the car free-falls 86 metres at a speed of 71.46 km/h. Then the cars brake dramatically and the car slides gently to the ground. This ride was voted 'Best Ride in the World' in 2008 due to the fact that the seats tilted. Awesome! 1. Dragon Khan - Port Aventura, Salou, Tarragona The ride is a sit-down roller coaster ride which boasts eight inversions. It also has the world's tallest vertical loop at 118 feet. The rides' top speed is 105 km/h and the whole ride lasts a breathtaking 1 minute and 45 seconds. Magnificent!
