Capture Further, Capture More Photographs by Rebekah Evans & Cariadd McCarthy
Capture Further, Capture More The original ‘Capture’ a Moment in Time’ photography project, teamed with two North Torfaen schools, using photography as a mechanism to engage with young people. Further developmental areas of photographic techniques were identified by the project team to design and deliver the ‘Capture Further, Capture More’ continuation elements for a further two months, with a select group of young people showing promise and flair on the original project. This ebook shows the results of that continuation. Working with two girls aged 14 and 15 from Abersychan School in Pontypool, Torfaen, initial sessions worked on more technical know-how, whilst latter sessions included field trips and computer-based classes. This gave the students freedom to explore the potential of the camera, Adobe Photoshop and their work. Like the earlier Capture Project, the students were guided by photographer & photography/media tutor Darren Griffiths-Warner, though unlike the earlier project where tasks were set, the students were encouraged to create their own visual agenda. After researching and considering influences from established photographers, the students were given the ability to explore their chosen realm using their own creativity. This book serves as an online, visual exhibition of the students’ work, designed by the students themselves. As will be evident through its pages, the students have created a unique perceptive exploring their individual, creative potential. Colours, textures, natural environments and image manipulated composites were created by the students, developing strong and vibrant imagery, and building confidence in individual creativitiy. ‘Capture Further, Capture More’ Photography Project - kindly funded by Arts Council Wales (ACW), and an extended element of ACW Momentum’s early intervention strand, was developed and delivered by Communities First (North Torfaen).
