Super 6: Lobi stars will pick continental, Iorfa Boast

Vice Chairman of Lobi Star Football Club Dominic Iorfa has boasted that his team is in good frame to pick a continental ticket.

Lobi finished second behind Rivers United in group B of the abridged Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL.
The team therefore qualified for the Super 6 alongside Rivers United, Enyimba,Bendel Insurance, Akwa United and Remo Stars. The competition holds at Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos from June 3 to June 11 and has price money of 100 million.
It should be noted that the Super Six’s top two teams will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League next season while the overall third-place team on the standings of the Super Six will represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Speaking with Sportswriters on Tuesday in Makurdi at the McCarthy Stadium, Iorfa bemoaned the exit of the team in round 16 of Federation Cup, attributing it to fatique. He however, noted that in past years, the team has not gone beyond round of 32 of the FA Cup.
He said, “the team travelled alot from Plateau where we played our league games to Owerri for the FA and then to Ijebu Ode where we played against Warri Wolves and lost. I must commend the resilence and determination of my boys. They gave their best.
“Our target is to emerge amongst the teams to play in the Super 6. We are in good track to get a continental ticket. The team is good to go”.
The former Super Eagles winger lauded Sportswriters for their relentless support for the team and urged them to continue.
Chairman, Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria, SWAN Benue State Chapter John Shiaondo applauded the leadership style of Iorfa that has seen the team emerge as one of the best in the country and encouraged him to continue in that stride.
