Era of election rigging over —INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has said the era of election rigging in Nigeria is over, saying henceforth, no eligible voter can vote more than once in any election in the country.

The Assistant Electoral Officer, Kaduna South Local Government Area Hauwa Yakubu asserted this during a Town Hall meeting organised by the Kakuri Development Association on the 2023 elections held in Kaduna yesterday.
According to her, the votes of Nigerians would count in the 2023 general election.
Hauwa added that, there will be no case of over voting again in any polling station, noting that

Afighting patrol from 1 Div yesterday rescued 30 kidnapped victims along Kaduna -Birnin Gwari road.

Nigerian Army Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya stated this in a statement made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday.
The statement stated that troops who were escorting the Chief of Defence Training and Operations, Maj Gen SE Udonwa on operational visits to Operation Whirl Punch Headquarters in Birnin Gwari engaged the bandits and overpowered them, forcing the criminal elements to withdraw in disarray.
The statement added that the gallant troops rescued 30 kidnapped victims, recovered 2 motorcycles and immediately cleared the highway for free flow of vehicular traffic.
Voting will be based on BVAS and other electronic devices by INEC.
“At the polling stations, the number of votes must be based on the number of voters accredited at the time of polling and not based on the number of registered voters.
“The number of accreditation at the polling station must tally with the number of actual voting. If it exceeded by one vote, the entire process would be invalidated,” She said Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Kakuri Department
Association Graba Yusuf said the Town. Hall Meeting Supported by Interfaith Mediation Center and Action Aid is to enlightened the residents of the local government on the forthcoming 2023 elections especially the new technology.
Similarly, Emmanuel Bonnet of Action Aid urged the residents of Kaduna South to ensure that the elections are peaceful.
Mr. Bonnet explained that there is are many ways voters can address their grievances without resulting to violence.
