Ajiya’s APC takes over Abuja South Constituency

The former Chairman of Abaji Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Abdulrahman Ajiya, has won the House of Representatives election to represent the Abuja South Constituency which comprised of Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kwali and Kuje at the National Assembly.

Ajiya polled 51,502 votes to defeat the incumbent member of the House of Representatives. Hon. Alhassan Usman Sokodabo who was the flag-bearer of PDP scored 47,376 votes.
Announcing the result of the election, the INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Wasiu Olugbenga Gabadeen, said Ajiya had met the requirement of the election.
In an interview with newsmen in his residence in Abaji, Ajiya said he would provide purposeful leadership capable of satisfying the aspirations of his people at the National Assembly.
He pointed out that he would partner with the FCT Senator-elect in order to move his constituency to the next level and called for the support and co-operation of the residents in Abuja South constituency.
Ajiya, however, described the conduct of the election as peaceful and credible, thanking the electorates for voting him.
Meanwhile, Party supporters, associations as well as the residents of Abuja South constituency have been paying congratulatory visits to the lawmaker in his residence. He pointed out that he would partner with the FCT Senatorelect in order to move his constituency to the next level and called for the support and co-operation of the residents in Abuja South constituency.
