Adamawa CP carpets REC, INEC over unguarded utterances on security

The Adamawa state Police Command has frowned at the claim by the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC. Barrister Yunusa Hudu Ari on threat to his life due to election process.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje disclosed the stand of the command via press release issued in Yola Wednesday assuring the

REC and public in the state of their safety and security.

It would be recalled that the REC, Ari granted a media interview in Bauchi on Tuesday allegeding that his life is under threat from undisclosed quarters regarding election in the state and that the CP Babatola told him that his security is not guaranteed in the state.

Nguroje confirmed that the CP and his management team frowned at unguarded utterances of the INEC boss in the state, insisting that no cause for alarm as his command in collaboration with other sister security agencies are equal to the task in the discharge of their professional responsibilities.

“Adamawa state Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has deployed the Command’s operational asset around INEC facilities for surveillance operations to checkmate criminal activities around it, as a further manifestation of the IGP’s determination in providing conducive atmosphere for political process in the state.

“These deployments without doubt will surely assist in monitoring INEC materials, prevent any attempt to invade INEC premises, coordinate timely response to distress call and to clamp down on any attempt threatening the electoral process”.
