NSCDC arrest 3 suspects for printing fake 2m naira/dollar notes in Zamfara

Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has succeeded in the arrest of three suspects in connection with printing, minting and circulating of 2 million naira and dollar notes.

Parading the suspects at the NSCDC State Command Gusau Zamfara State capital, Commandant Muhammad Bello Mu’azu, said one kamalu Sani of Yaryara area of Tsafe local Government Area and Sulieman Yusuf of Bakin Tasha of Tsafe local government area were arrested in Gusau while trying to pay for transport fare to a keke Napep operator with the fake one thousand naira note.
According to Commandant Mu’azu, the keke Napep operator was instantly able to identify the fake note and raised an alarm which led to the arrest of the culprits.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that, kamalu Sani has indulged in this business for the period of one year.
“He confessed to have been introduced to the illicit act by one Ado Gurgu of Tsafe local government area who took him to one Muazu Abdulkarim of kwartarkwarshi village. He further confessed that, the said Muazu Abdulkarim is the one who supplies the fake currency and that each one thousand fake naira note is exchanged at four hundred naira only”, Commandant Mu’azu has added.
He noted that, operatives of the NSCDC had traced the supplier of the fake currency to somewhere in kwartarkwarshi village where the prime suspect, Muazu Abdulkarim who is at large, directed his son Uzaifa Muazu who has also been in the illicit trade with the father to open a box that contains fake currencies both naira and dollars for onward supplies to the suspects.
The sum of sixty thousand naira of fake currency was found along side with Two thousand six hundred dollars of fake U.S dollars were found in the box. Meanwhile, the sum of seventeen thousand naira of fake currency was seen with Kamalu Sani during his arrest.
Uzaifa Muazu who is the son to the prime suspect Muazu Abdulkarim confessed that, Muazu Abdulkarim has been in this illicit act for more than three years and that he gets the fake monies from Kano in company of one Ado Gurgu.
Commandant Muhammad Bello Muazu however advised the general public to be wary of these mischievous set of people, explaining that the Command has put its search light on these mischief makers and the Corps shall clampdown on them heavily.
