2023 election: Tinubu, APC pray court to allow them inspect INEC materials

Atiku Abubarka of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the president-elect, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Party(APC) wants the court’s permission to inspect election materials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Sequel to the arguments canvassed in court, the Presidential Election Tribunal fixed Wednesday, to rule on two applications filed by the president-elect.

Akintola Makinde announced appearance for Tinubu in the applications filed against INEC, Peter Obi, Labour party, Atiku Abubakar and People’s Democratic party, respectively. in his argument, he submitted that the order will enable inspect, scan and make photocopies of some of the electoral materials to prepare his defence against petitions that would seek to nullify his election.

“The materials will be relevant in helping us to prepare our defence and also make comparison with the information contained in INEC’s back-end server”

APC, in the same vein, through it’s counsel, Omosuya. P., aligned with the submissions of Tinubu’s prayers

Recall that with 8,794,726 votes, Tinubu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared the winner of the poll ahead of Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi, candidate of the Labour Party (LP), who secured 6,101,533 votes.

Obi and Atiku are alleging that the 2023 presidential election was rigged and marred with irregularities.
