Immigration boss tasks new officers wives association excos on diligence

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Idris Isah Jere, has urged the newly inaugurated executives to be diligent in their service towards humanity.

Jere said this at the inauguration of the pioneer executives of the Immigration Officers’ Wives Association (IMMOWA), FCT Command Chapter, in Abuja.

Jere, who was represented by the Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration, Saadat Hassan, said he will support the association to achieve growth and development.

“The ongoing transformation and development seen in IMMOWA is a demonstration of membership commitment and dedication to the growth and progress of this great association.

“He requested me to inform you that as the grand patron, he will not relent in his efforts at ensuring you get all the support and protection needed to sustain this new developmental initiative.

“As a matter of fact, the desire is to see this positive transformation replicated at all levels and across board while the association maintains a strong united front.

“He commends the national president and her lieutenant, for their selfless sacrifice at championing the laudable project; the IMMOWA FCT Skills Acquisition Centre.

“The empowerment initiative is the first of its kind in the service. The CGIS is convinced that in the long run, wives and gallant officers, and men of the service especially with the unemployed will be equipped with skills to provide a formidable economic support to cater for their families.

“To the newly inaugurated pioneer executives of IMMOWA FCT Chapter, the CGIS implore you to be dutiful and diligent in your service towards humanity. He implores you to promote a leadership style that is devoid of all forms of religious, political or ethnic sentiments.

“Good leadership is expected to be unbiased and maintain an administration that is positively disposed to contributions and constructive criticism.”

The IMMOWA National President, Hajiya Maryam Jere, congratulated the pioneer excos hoping they will make good contributions that will further bring growth to the association.

“I feel so excited to be in your midst, because your hardwork, dedication, loyalty, genuine interest and love for IMMOWA has made me proud.

“I am very much aware of a lot of hardwork you get to make this day a reality, and your efforts are truly commendable.

“My heartfelt congratulations to the successful election of your pioneer executives, please accept my best wishes for your success as you take up your responsibilities and challenges that may come with your various offices.

“I believe you’ll work diligently, as a team to achieve maximum success in your endeavours. The journey may not be easy for you, nothing worthwhile is easy, but anything is possible when you put in your mind to make it and work as a team no matter how challenging it may be.”

She also enjoined wives of the officers to ensure they are a source of peace and comfort for their spouses.

She further appreciated the Comptroller FCT Command, for his effort in ensuring the FCT IMMOWA is inaugurated.

For her part, Hajiya Hadiza Umar, Chairperson, IMMOWA FCT Command, represented by the coordinator FCT IMMOWA, Hauwa Idris, appreciated the Comptroller for his effort to see to the establishment of the association in the FCT.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of awards, launching of IMMOWA FCT Skills Acquisition Centre and Exhibition of Products of the centre, and cultural dance. (NAN)
