“The thrust of this Administration has been to cater for the welfare of AMAC residents with the provision of basic amenities and I reiterate that no community will be left behind with regards to basic health care delivery. This is in line with our campaign promises and avowal for a better AMAC.

“Therefore, as part of my Administration’s basic health care delivery, we decided to hold this outreach in response to the widespread negligence and poor attitude of the citizens against voluntary testing and treatment of common diseases until they are caught unawares. In addition, many people are out there with several medical needs as well as unknown, underlying health challenges.

“It is the desire of our administration to use this forum to enlighten and awaken the consciousness of the public to adopt the principles of preventive health that saves lives and costs through voluntary testing and treatment of underlying diseases and health challenges in the society”.

He continues: “In view of the current economic situation, we decided to hold this outreach to attend to desirous but less privileged people in our communities.

“With the flag-off of this programme, it has signalled the commencement of quarterly zonal health outreaches across the Area Council; to be able to mitigate the risks of common ailments, especially those that look simple, but potentially terminal.

“At this juncture, I wish to, however, call on wealthy public spirited persons and organisations, especially CSOs, NGOs and related agencies to replicate this gesture by bringing this initiative to every village and community in AMAC.

“I wish to seize this opportunity to thank our guests for coming and to most especially appreciate the Executive Secretary, Health and Human Services, other Directors present here today.

“Permit me to specially single out all our dependable and reliable partners, UNICEF, WHO and a host of very important other agencies present, for identifying with this milestone”.

Also speaking, Executive Secretary, FCT Primary Healthcare Board (FCTPHCB), Dr Isa Vatsa, said that primary Healthcare remains an integral part of national development, saying that the AMAC Chairman should be emulated.

In his goodwill message, a representative of the World Health Organization (WHO), Abdulhakeem Abdulkareem, said that health is paramount in whatever we do as humans, even as he expressed gratitude to the

AMAC Chairman for bringing healthcare to the grassroots, where it is paramount.

Similarly, the District Head of Kurudu, HRH Ezra Gomna, said that the outreach is the first of its kind, even as he implored AMAC Chairman to always remember the community when it comes to democratic dividends.

Highlights of the event included provision of free medical healthcare to over 1,000 children and women of the community, including immunization, COVID-19 vaccination, free malaria testing and meditation, HIV testing and counseling, family planning, eye screening and other medical services rendered by medical doctors and nurses.

The Vice Chairman of the council and other officials also had their vital signs taken and medical advice given by the medical doctors and nurses on duty.
