Emir of Zazzau advocates for more University in Kaduna

The Emir of Zazzau in Kaduna State, Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamal has advocated for the establishment of more universities in Nigeria to meet admission demands of those in pursuit of higher knowledge.

ACOMIN seeks media support on Malaria control in Jigawa

The Civil Society for Malaria control Immunization and Nutrition popularly known as (ACOMIN), appealed to media practitioners to support its effort on fight against malaria diseases in Jigawa state.
The call was made by state project officer of ACOMIN in Jigawa state, comrade Auwal Ibrahim while briefing news men shortly after a meeting with stakeholders held at ACOMIN office in Dutse the state capital.
He explained that, the meeting aimed at gathering inputs from community leaders, civil society organizations and media to develop general concept note against 2024 - 2026.
According to him, ACOMIN being in operation in Jigawa since 2020, realized gaps on inadequate awareness and enlightenment of general public on their roles to controlling malaria diseases in the state.
He spoke in Kaduna yesterday where he hailed the management of Greenfield, University Kaduna providing quality facility at its city campus in Kudenda community.

Father said ” we’ve four universities in Kaduna and the mother of all, we have ABU Zaria. I cannot say we have enough, but with the population in Kaduna, it is not enough to cater for the demands. With Greenfield in Kaduna metropolis, more students will gain, from what we have seen, you have most of the required faculties.”

Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Mohammed Sani Musa 313 has redeemed his 100 million Naira pledge to support education and empower youth and women in Shiroro local government area of the state.
The representative of the Coalition of Shiroro Association (COSA), Comrade Usman Ibrahim Kuta made this known at a press briefing in Kuta, the council headquarters, saying this kind gesture has taken away burden from the parents and students.
Comrade Kuta disclosed that 1,346 registered students to benefit free WAEC and NECO examinations to the sum of N29,612,000 with N22,000 per students from the area councils.
He added that no fewer than 114 students also have been registered for JAMB to the sum of N741,000 with N26,500 each in the 15 existing public schools from the two local government areas of Shiroro and Munya respectively.
Kuta who applauded the singular efforts of the senator, described as ‘ first of its kind and exceptional service’ considering the impact of insecurity bedeviling the people that have resulted in to high poverty in the area, just as youth and women empowerment will soon take effect.
The chairman, Shiroro local government, Akilu Isyaku Kuta in an interview, called on the state and federal governments to ensure the establishment of a military barrack around Maganda, the identified route of bandits in to the state from Zamfara to end the security challenges facing the senatorial district.
He revealed that about 17 public schools were closed down from the council in Alawa, Manta, Kurebe, Erena, Gurmana and Galkago wards but have now resumed while others have applied for reopening in due course.

Bauchi NNPP guber candidate

The Gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Bauchi State Senator Haliru Jika has dispelled reports that he had stepped down for one of the major candidates in the March 18 Governorship election.
Jika who is the senator respresenting Bauchi Central, said he has all it takes to lead the state and he has been well received by the people of Bauchi all through his campaigns.
The NNPP Guber candidate popularly known as Dokaji by friends and well-wishers, cleared the air about the purported news that he had stepped down from the race in an interview with journalists at his residence in Bauchi.
“I did not step down from the Governorship for any candidate and my party has campaign extensively,” he said.
Polls: Benue LP candidate, denies endorsing PDP Uba

Governorship Candidate of the Labour Party in Benue State, Hon. Herman Hembe has distanced himself from an endorsement of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Governorship candidate Titus Uba.
It should be noted that on Monday 13th March, 2023, 94 support groups of the Labor Party endorsed Uba at Government House, Makurdi, explaining that their action was born out of the need to reciprocate Governor Samuel Ortom who sacrificed his Senatorial ambition for the party during the Presidential/ Senatorial which he lost.
They appreciated him for standing in defence of the State against external aggressors.
But in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Tuesday, Hon. Hembe said unequivocally that he would not have any ties with the PDP, maintaining that the purported adoption is a ‘sham’.
He noted that the group are people who do not have electoral value and are looking for stipends from the government, stressing that he is not deterred by the action but is campaigning hard to win the Governorship election slated for Saturday 18th March,2023.
