Motorsport NGO trains 100 Children in Karting, gives prices

About 100 children have been successfully trained in a kart (motorsport) training and competition for children in Abuja. The training was done by a motorsport nongovernmental organization known as Automobile and Touring Club of Nigeria (ATCN).

Participants were trained on the techniques and rules of kart racing both in theory and practical demonstration using e-karting devices and Go-Kart vehicles.
The first three day of the event took place on the premises of Abuja Enterprise Agency while the day four, which was the final and competition day took place at the Eagle Square Parking Lot, Abuja.
The four-day event under the name Karting in School Phase 2 had about 100 participants which was supported by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile(FIA) through its FIA Sports Grant Programme hosted by ATCN in partnership with Abuja Enterprise Agency and Abuja Investment Company Limited.
About 100 children participated in the competition out of which the best 16 were selected, and then the best 8 out which the best 4 qualified for the final.
In the category of boys, the first price went the 17-year-old Bassey Akilahyel who emerged over all winner while Usman Suleiman and Muhammad Suleiman came behind as first runner-up and second runner-up respectfully.
In the female category of the Karting in Schools, 11-year-old Ummusalma Abdullateef was the winner, while Sunday 9th April, 2023 saw 18 students participate in the eSport in eKarting Category, 12-year-old Abdullateef Junaid emerged overall winner, followed by Mubarak Muhammad and David Shaibu who came second and third, respectively.
The president of ATCN Mr Isaku Bamayi, in his closing remark charged the kart drivers to show “dedication and commitment because the training and the outcome of the competition will definitely impart on your life, especially for those of you who want to obtain licence to participate in National and international competitions”, he said.
All the participants were given certificates while winners went home with trophies.

Aformer Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Abayomi Awoniyi, has described the victory of Senator Dino Melaye as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for November 11 governorship election in Kogi State as a great threat to the party.
Awoniyi, who is an aspirant in the PDP governorship primary election held on Sunday, 16th April 2023, disclosed this on Monday in a statement made available to journàlists.
The former deputy governor, who alleged that the PDP primary was not free and fair, said the election that brought Melaye as the party flag bearer was flawed.
