Navy warns miscreants to stay clear

The Nigerian Navy has assured Nigerians of total safety during the forthcoming 2023 general election while sending strong warning signals to miscreants to stay off the process as they will be dealt with without mercy if caught disrupting the process.

The Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo stated this in Abuja on Saturday while addressing journalist at the end of the 2023 Nigerian Navy first quarter route march.
Gambo, who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans (CPPLans), Rear Admiral Saidu Garba noted that this 2023 first quarter march was specifically organized as a show of force to assure Nigerians that the armed forces of Nigeria and indeed the Nigerian Navy is ready to ensure that citizens of Nigeria go out and vote without any hindrance or molestation.
He further said that the Nigeria Navy shall support police and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to make sure any miscreant that is found disrupting the electoral process will be dealt with without any kind of mercy adding that the riot act has already been read to the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
According to the Naval Chief “the Route March is organized earlier than scheduled as a show of force to prepare personnel to be mentally and physically fit for the forthcoming 2023 General Elections. Furthermore, it is aimed at developing personnel physical and mental alertness to meet the dynamics of contemporary security operations as well as fostering esprit de corps and providing an avenue for relaxation.
“We have the modality for the conduct of the election which have been read to them and they have all been properly briefed as to their conduct during the election. We shall maintain an exterior periphery in the general election process and we will support the police and will be the ones very close to the officers.
“We shall give necessary escort duties and protection when required and I want to assure Nigerians that the Nigerian Navy and indeed the Armed Forces of Nigeria are ready to protect this process of election that will be holding very soon”.
Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Saturday appealed to residents to remain calm, even in the face of the difficulties and frustrations due to cash shortage.
Sanwo-Olu made the appeal while addressing newsmen at Lagos House, Marina, on the current situation caused by Naira redesign in the country.
He urged Lagos residents to avoid all forms of violence, arson and rioting, as sure were not the solutions to the difficulties and frustrations being presently experienced.
Nasarawa West: Wadada concludes wards campaign rallies, seeks peaceful elections
The Social Democratic Party Senatorial Candidate for Nasarawa West, Ahmed Wadada, has urged his supporters to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the upcoming general elections.
Wadada made the call on Saturday while concluding his campaign rally at Garaku Ward, Kokona Local Government area of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Wadada had gone round 59 Wards in five Local Government Areas of the Senatorial district too solicit the support of the electorate and blessings of Royal Fathers.
The senatorial flag bearer enjoined the electorate to be decisive, think about the current reality and reflect on the dynamism of time while exercising their civic responsibility on the day of the election.
” My call to the electorate has always been one that we should be very peaceful in our conduct. And again we should be decisive and really sit down to think about what time it is now.
” And if you know what time it is you will know better what you are supposed to do. The dynamism of life makes it imperative for everything in life to change.
“I think there is no better time than now to change the landscape,”he added.
Wadada, therefore, promised the people of the district better representation if elected to serve them at the National Assembly.
” My wards campaign rallies had been very interesting, fulfilling, and of course motivating because I didn’t know that the level of appreciation of myself by the people has really gotten to the level I found out.(NAN)
