MNCHW: Kano govt targets 2.8m children for 2023 campaign

The Kano state government and health development partners in the state are going to target 2.8 million children on the first round of 2023 Maternal Newborn and Child Health Week.

This was made known by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa at a press briefing on the Maternal Newborn and Child Health Week (MNCHW) campaigns on Monday in Kano.
The campaign which will take place from Monday 20th February to 24th February
2023 is targetting 2.8 million children that are under 5 years of age and 400,000 pregnant wonen.
“The Kano state government along with health development partners will spend about N1 billion on 2.8 million children and 400,000 pregnant women in the 44 local government areas of the state” he said.
Addressing newsmen earlier, the commissioner gave a breakdown of the activities he described as cost effective and of high impact.
“The MNCHW campaign is a high impact, cost effective, and client centered maternal child health and nutrition intervention aimed at reaching out to all women and children of the state with intensified maternal and health services.
“It is a week-long intervention during which free services such as vitamin A supplementation, deworming, nutritional assessement, free antenatal drugs such as fesolate and folic acid for prevention of anemia in pregnancy, free zin and ORS will be distributed to parents, care givers, children and pregnant women across the state.
