Transportation minister support NPA’s staff welfare initiative

Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo has pledged the support of the Ministry of Transportation to the Nigerian Ports Authority on its initiatives on staff welfare.

The gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Gombe state Hon. Khamisu Mailantarki has called on his supporters not to relent in voting credible leaders in the forthcoming general elections.

He made the appeal at the weekend in Billiri while flagging off his campaign.

Mailantarki while addressing the crowd, assured them that if elected into office, his administration will do as much as possible to change the narrative of the state.

He said in the recent times, the state has witnessed bad governance and that something has to be done to ensure that people benefit from the dividend of democracy.

According to him, the campaign promises that was made by the present administration to the people has failed. Authority.

The Minister further congratulated awardees and the entire workers of the NPA for their teamwork and contributions to the successes being recorded.

“Let me pledge to you all that the Ministry under my watch will continue to provide unflinching support for all initiatives of the Authority’s management geared towards the promotion of staff welfare.

“As someone that loves to identify with human virtues, I was highly elated when I received the invitation from the Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority to be part of this noble effort.

“Today, we celebrate employees who have dedicated twenty years of their lives to the service of Nigeria through the Authority for twenty years and those in the merit category who have accomplished exceptional feats through uncommon dutifulness,” he said.

Sambo recalled that he had during his maiden visit to NPA, commended the Managing Director for his performance and was glad that he had not relented in his efforts, especially in the aspect of staff welfare.

“In my maiden visit to the Authority upon appointment as Minister of Transportation, whilst, I had commended the Managing Director for the unprecedented performance in revenue generation and remittance.

“He had solicited my backing and support to fast track the processes and procedures necessary for the implementation of staff salary increase which I immediately acceded to, and today I am delighted it has been achieved,” he said.

Bishop warns Clerics against partisan politics

Bishop Timothy Yahaya of Anglican communion, Kaduna Diocese has warned Nigerian clerics against using the altar to preach partisan politics.

He gave the warning yesterday in Kaduna during the installation of venerable Joseph Dele Olorunfemi as the Provost of the Cathedral.

According to him, it was wrong for men who are called to serve in the vineyard of the Lord to use the altar to preach partisan politics, adding that they should maintain neutrality when it comes to partisan politics, but rather tell the politicians the truth as expected.

Bishop who fumes about the ways some clerical are careless through their actions and words said they should remember that there is certainly a day of Judgment.

He advised the new Provost to shun all forms of being spiritually ignorant, saying it It is worst for a him to be spiritually ignorant because it will not only affect him and his family but also the Church.

Admonishing him to diligently seek God’s face, discern the devices of the Devil and teach the wisdom of men.

Speaking after his installation, the New Provost Joseph Dele Olorufemi thanks the Bishop and entire members of the Diocese for the confidence implores in him.

Olorufemi promised not to let them down with the help of God, saying prayers and submission to those God has placed above him would be his cardinal point.

CBN urges Jigawa marketers to comply with 31st January order

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has urged the marketers and stakeholders in Jigawa state to comply with January 31st order as final day of using old N1000, N500 and N200 bank notes.

The call was made by the CBN Dutse area controller, Hajiya Sa’adatu Ibrahim Amin during the stakeholders sensitization at Dutse ultramordern market in the state capital.

She explained that, currency management as a key function of the Central Bank of Nigeria recieved directive from president Muhammadu Buhari to redesign denominations of N1000, N500, and N200 which was unveiled on November 23,2022.

According to her, in recent times the currency management in Nigeria has faced several challenges by members of the public, including hoarding bank with statistics showing that N2.72 trillion out of the N3.26 trillion currency in circulation.

Mrs Ibrahim added that, the redesignation of new notes will also adress the challenges of worsen shortages of clean and fit banknotes and increase risk to financial stability.

She maintained that, it would reduce risk of counterfeiting and increase evidences for security reports received at the Central Bank of Nigeria.
