The pre season tournament of Engineer Ibrahim Dada annual Nigeria Nation Wide League Competition has ended in Makunkele, Bosso local government area of Niger state.

The football competition during its 10th Anniversary tournament with 20 clubs participated which final ended 2-0 in favour of Tornadoes Feeders Club of Minna against the Alheri Babes of Nasarawa.

Engineer who is the annual sponsor of the competition in an interview said the aim is to contribute his quarter by engaging youths for the development of the state and the country.

Dada emphasized that sports is the easiest means of unifying youths and the people rather than allowing them to be involved in social vices like restiveness, drug abuse, thuggery and others hence the idea for the competition to the betterment of their future.

Niger state Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has said to deployed 1,450 personnel to Nigeria Police for onward posting across the state to provide security coverage during the forthcoming general elections in the state. This was contained in a statement issued by the command PRO, DSC, Nasir Abdullahi. He said the state Commandant, Ahmed Mohammed Dandare will work as a team with other security agencies to achieve common goal of hitch free elections,. The commandant while addressing the management staff of the command, warned officers to be apolitical and conduct themselves while discharging their legitimate functions.

He cautioned the officers not to intimidate voters at the polling unit and never to handle any election material or assist a voter on how to vote, but for protection of lives and properties especially Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.

He further reiterated the Command’s readiness to deal ruthlessly with anybody or group of persons caught trying to sabotage the smooth conduct of the election or destroy any INEC material.
