Reps Deputy Minority leader congratulate Enugu Governor- elect, Mbah

The Deputy Minority Leader, House of Representatives, Hon. Toby Okechukwu, has congratulated the governorelect of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, describing his election as a major step by the people of Enugu State at a time of severe national economic challenges. Okechukwu said Mbah’s manifesto had provided a detailed and promising roadmap for Enugu State, adding that his agenda as enshrined in his manifesto would occasion the radical reforms needed for the socio-economic transformation of the state.

The lawmaker, who represents Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, Enugu State, stated these in his congratulatory message to the governor-elect on Sunday.

He said: “On behalf of the good people of Aninri/Awgu/ Oji River Federal Constituency, I congratulate the governor-elect of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, and the people of Enugu State on this massive victory.

“It was a hard-won victory, but it is worth it, given the quality that Dr. Mbah is expected to bring to bear on the leadership of the State. He comes with a wealth of proven experience and track record in the private sector space where he plies his trade.

“With his ambitious vision and programmes, his commitment to transforming Enugu State’s economy from the present $4.4 billion to $30 billion economy in eight years as well as taking the youth off the unemployment market and unleashing their potentials and creativity, I am supremely confident that Enugu people made the right choice”.

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has started nationwide sensitisation and advocacy to educate Nigerians about the forthcoming National Population and Housing Census. Director-General of the agency, Garba Abari, said this when he appeared on the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja on Sunday. He said that the sensitisation is to enlighten the public about the importance of census toward national planning and development.

Police nab 48 year old herbalist for allegedly murdering patient in Adamawa

Police Cammand has apprehended a 48 year old herbalist,Ezekiel Buba of Gombiyel village in Shelleng local government area for allegedly slaughtering his patient a process of administering treatment.

Confessing to the crime in an interview with peoples Daily at Criminal Investigation Department, CID of the command in Yola weekend, Buba said that the relations of the deceased approached him with the complaint of his mental derailment illness where he obliged to assist.

Buba said the sick deceased was taken to his residence on Monday 20th March 2023 by his family from a neighbouring village,Kambillam.for a traditional medication confirming that after his consultation,he discovered the late to be suffering from mental illness and epilepsy.

Buba stated that while performing some rituals with a robe at his backyard, the demon assisting in the treatment descended in a whirlwind with knives and slit the throat of the late patient who was lying on the ground.

“I usually slaughter chickens for sacrifice to a blood thirsty demon solely to prevent it from harming anybody as failure to make sacrifice to the demon,a patient can not be cured.

“Honestly the demon possessed me at the time in which I acted out my senses and slaughtered the deceased to death with my bear hands which I am regretting now as I inherited this herbalist work from my grand mother for over thirty years (30) now.

“Already the demon has warned me in demanding for chickens to slaughtered and offer it the blood for sacrifice.I waiting for market day to buy these chickens for the sacrifice as demanded”.Buba advanced.

However,spokesman of the command,SP Suleiman Nguroje said the suspect would be taken to court for prosecution as soon as investigation is completed and pronounced guilty as charged.
