4 people injured as thugs attack LP campaign convoy in Kaduna

the media in Kaduna yesterday. The statement stated that four youths were injured in the process, including two boys and two girls. No vehicle was damaged.

The incident happened when the campaign convoy was passing through Gidan Waya during Friday prayers on its way to Godogodo and other towns as the campaign team tour the local government. After the first three vehicles in the convoy made their way through the old tyres used to demarcate the road, thugs started throwing stones, big sticks and other harmful objects at the long convoy.

It took the timely intervention of the security personnel attached to the candidate to forestall a crisis.

AKTH seeks media partnership for enlightenment on glaucoma in Kano

The Department of Opthalmology of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) in Kano is seeking for collaboration with media within and outside the state in commemorating this year’s World Glaucoma Week.

According to a statement signed by the Chairperson of Public Eye Health Unit of the hospital, the Global Health Community set aside one week, between Sunday 12-18 March 2023, to create awareness on glaucoma.

In a statement by the spokesperson of the hospital, Hauwa Muhammad Abdullahi, the Department of Opthalmology of the AKTH calls on all media organizations, as part of their corporate social responsibility, to join handsin reaching out to the public on the enlightenment.

“The theme of this year World Glaucoma Week:”The World is Bright, Save your Sight’’ will be a good concept for public awareness,” the statement said. The statement stated that a team of Opthalmic specialists have been constituted in the department for media correspondents wishing to create awareness on the glaucoma within the week.

Kebbi: Mass defections as Aliero’s supporters join APC after presidential poll

Tsunami has affected the Kebbi State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the party key chieftain and other youth supporters of Senator Adamu Aliero of PDP have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing newsmen yesterday at the party office, the APC chieftain and the National Coordinator of Bola Ahmed Tinubu campaigns Train (S7_4_BAT 2023) Comrade Alhaji Kabiru Sani Giant said that many supporters of Senator Adamu Aliero and other groups were all in APC now shortly after declaring the Presidential and National Assembly elections results.

He explained that despite the campaign of calumny against the APC Governorship candidate, the PDP is going nowhere because the APC candidate, Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu has more integrity and support than the other.

“Our candidate Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu is the people’s choice and is a grass roots politician who rose from the Local government level to the National president of the NUT,” he said.

Gaint who expressed happiness over the high level of the opposition parties losing their supporters to the APC in the State, assured that inshallah, the APC will win the 18th March Governorship and state Assembly elections in the State.

Rescheduled Governorship Polls: Cracks in Benue YPP

Barely a week to the rescheduled Governorship election slated for March 18th, 2023, there is crack in the camp of the Young Progressives Party,YPP in Benue as the Governorship candidate Robert Orya and the party leadership are at daggers drawn.

Robert Orya, a former Managing Director, NEXIM Bank is insisting that he remains the Governorship candidate of the Party and vehemently disagrees on any merger with the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP.

The Party executive led by Dr. Gwaduwe had at a Press conference in Makurdi on Friday, disclosed that they have gone into alliance with the Peoples’ Democratic Party,PDP Governorship candidate Titus Uba.

Dr. Gwaduwe opined that as far as the 2023 election is concerned, the party cannot make any impact, hence the need to align with the PDP.

Hear him,” As far as 2023 election is concerned we have been in the race but truthfully in war situation, knowing yourself and not knowing your enemy, a battle is lost. We have taken stock of ourselves vis-a- vis others that are contesting, we have counted our votes and know that we can garner over 100000 votes which may not be enough to win the election.
