The pastors, under the auspices of Concerned Pastors for Good Governance, said in endorsing Asake, they are supporting righteousness and holiness, as they believe that Asake has what it takes to win the election and govern Kaduna state successfully.

They said their support is borne in the fact that Asake has not stepped down for anyone and has asserted that he will not step down for any candidate or any party.

Speaking in a statement on Thursday, jointly signed by iitsChairman, Apostle Edet Eyo and Secretary, Rev. Matthias Egwuka, the concerned pastors condemned a viral letter on the social media in which Kaduna state Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) purportedly ordered Christians in the state to vote for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Guber candidate, Hon. Isah Ashiru Kudan ordered Christians in the state to vote for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Guber candidate, Hon. Isah Ashiru

The clergymen, who expressed reservation over the viral letter, which has been denied by CAN in Kaduna state, stated that they got it on good authority that the Christian body did not issue such statement, hence it was the handiwork of desperate people who were threatened by the sudden rise of the Labour Party candidate in the state.

They, however, called on mischief makers to desist and allow Christians and other residents of the state vote according to their conscience. The Concerned Pastors reminded Christians in the state that it is the policy of the Christian body to admonish people to vote for righteousness and true holiness at all levels.

They therefore encouraged the people of Kaduna state to vote against every evil that has placed Nigeria and Kaduna state in its present precarious situation, resulting from bad governance.

“As Concerned pastors for good governance, we want to use this opportunity to discountenance every evil propaganda, insinuation or suggestion that Hon. Jonathan Asake has stepped down, or should step down for any other candidate. No matter the consideration, it won’t happen because Asake is capable of winning this election and we will give him and the Labour Party all our support to win,” the statement added.
