2013. Architecte Freelance, Galicia, Spain. August 2012-September 2013Â
Developing several projects for the Town of Friol (Lugo), ie: Dental Clinic, Expanding the cemetery of the village of Nodar, Project of sanitation and improving the township roads of Friol (in collaboration with Iria Garcia, technical civil engineer); and also a General reform of housing in the historic city of Lugo, Spain; and the rating of finalist in a landscaping competition fo the village of Allariz, Ourense ... among few other civil works.
“The color that inspires is the color of fall, spring, summer and winter.
It is the color of the floral richness that makes up the landscape of the town of Allariz.
To outsiders, it is very satisfying that with a single glance of the surroundings, is achieved appreciate the beauty of the plant extension continuously advancing along its valleys and hillsides.
But this continuity is gently interrupted by the variation in the colors of nature, which in itself, and intermittently, is able to offer a spectacle for the eyes, different in each visit. Under this reflection, and looking for a way to condense it into a rehearsal space observatory that allows visitors to feel such this simple but so sensitively phenomenon.
Thus, the project develops a garden based on the observation of color in the different plant species exposed on it, taking the quality of the plants to change their appearance depending on the season. The architectural project is a labyrinth of paths and embankments which contain the ground, reminiscent of the streets of the historic old town of Allariz; visual and temporarily isolating visitors from the rest of the intervention, and thus comes close to user vegetable elements individually. This creates a few “pauses on the way, which contain places of meeting and rest, with a staircase to sit and chat, or some jumps between paths shaped in terraces, where the user can also relax watching the change of garden.

2010. PFC_ Final Year Project. Architecture September 2009 -
June 2010Â
Design and conception of a botanical garden, Final Year Project developed in the 5th year CESUGA Architecture, University College Dublin, A CoruĂąa. __ Hand drawing __ Watercolor painting __ Work with Models __ AutoCad __ Adobe Photoshop __ Sketchup
On the occasion of the Final Year Project developed un the 5th year CESUGA Architecture, University College Dublin; i´ve chosen to perform the design and conception of a botanical garden, as well as the buildings that are necessary for this typology of complex. The decision to choose this program, unlike another, comes from the motivation that emerged from the Thesis Report investigation, dealing with the Color Theory and its application to botany matters, which allows me to continue experimenting and applying the knowledge i had already gained. This research investigates the poetic form of limit concept according to its dynamic/changing way, because identifying it would be is easier if there is a chance to observe it while changing from its form to its no-form, in other words, from the limit to no-limit. Getting deeper in Color Theory, allows us to associate this abstract concept to terms as contrast and fusion, perhaps more intuitive and visual, applied to the use of color in the visual arts. The variety of painting techniques is very suggestive for the investigation of palpable sensations; and its
translation to Architecture could greatly enriches any Landscaping project. Thus, the study of color properties uses to create some kind of color spectrum which may be contrasted or fused, and thereby transmit depth, light, shadow, reflection, … that are all concepts linked t the volumetric space, can creatively inspire the landscape intention which all botanical garden should claim. The very concept of limit, talking about colors, taken to the area of Science that deals with vegetation, can help to make a new scheme of organization and classification of plants, using the variety of colors that Nature offers, and more: the attribute of plants to vary their appearance depending on time of year. Therefore, this project would develop a botanical garden based on experimentation, observation and research on plant species, classified by color criterion. This will engender a changing limit in the exhibition of plants, trees and shrubs, to take into account the variation of its shades and shapes, and visually represent dynamic, contrasted or melted, coloring relations between each others.
Therefore, there are proposed specific routes for each season, which shall offer different and unique landscapes on each date: Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter. Such an even of Nature needs to be seen from distant points, and the growth of vegetation seems to lose perspective if it were located in a plain, because some species would hinder the view of others, and would block de visual and pictorial effect. And for this reason i have chosen an steep slope area for the intervention, whose lands would be seen entirely from the surrounding area. Finally, the garden is located on a plot whose geometry suggests the closest sector of a mountain at the edge of the Dam of Val de Arcos (Mazaricos, A Coruña). The garden design that is projected here, involves the landscaping of a total area of 20 hectares, which displays a road network in different degrees of paving, in the course of which emerges the program built.
The program appears to the visitor bay the form of “stops” in the road, without breaking the established routes, containing the different constructions: Science Center, Greenhouse, Look-out, Meeting point, Gardening Shop and Restaurant. The immediate area to buildings’ treatment is the depression of those stops or crossroads, which are excavated on the ground to generate a break on the road, which is visually isolated from the whole vision of the garden, and so that, bringing the user to get closer to individual plant elements. The selection of plants, trees and shrubs, revolves around species that experience notable changes in appearance throughout the year; which also chosen for their interest in low maintenance, wildlife friendliness, having volumetric or expansive presence, richness in fragrance ... and of course, the colorfulness.

The buildings are intended as an extension of the field, and are coordinated with the environment to be hidden at first glance, without detracting the entire garden. Following this intention, the buildings are projected as stony tongues embedded in the ground, like a cut in the ground, they will appear between layers of organic sediments. Therefore, the buildings have a rigid, rough shell, made of porous concrete (which one, quickly blends with the environment, aging naturally and accommodating colorful mosses and lichens in their cavities), also contain some land at their ends, with smooth slopes on the covers, pretending to be a set of mountains. That shell has a sequence in drilling holes, tending to rupture, and multiplying their holes to break the supporting structure and create emptied spaces . Seeking for an abrupt appearance, responds to a botanical garden without artifice, based on wildlife and invasive nature: a vegetal, wild, and changing mass. The program of all buildings needed a piece that would work as a greenhouse, appearing on the buildings as laboratory / workshop, in the case of the Science Centre; a dining room at Restaurant; and greenhouse as such in the Botany Shop. This piece is projected as a “bubble of air” space, that emerges from the stone cave looking for light. Thus, a box of glass separated form the concrete structure is built by applying a curtain wall over an internal wooden ribs. To enclose a box of delicate glass, concrete shell is softened on its inner faces, by the same way it would happen on the inside of a crustacean . Therefore, as opposed to the bush hammered finish in outer faces, the interior appears as polished concrete.
