LEISA & CHRIS HARRIS. Salty Crew Kiosk & Bills Fishhouse + Bar
Chris and I were fortunate to spend our childhoods growing up in blissful Port Macquarie. Our careers allowed us some great opportunities to travel and work around Australia including Makepeace Island in Noosa. Fast forward a few years and our family of three is lucky to call this magic piece of the Mid North Coast home again. Last year we established Salty Crew Kiosk - a kiosk on Town Beach offering healthy food and beverages - and BILLS Fishhouse and Bar, a restaurant with a chic coastal vibe offering fresh, local seafood. Our reason for returning was not only our expanding family, we could see the standard of the food and produce scene growing rapidly and we wanted to be a part of it! We’re passionate about the quality local produce and truly believe we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants, cafes and producers.

Since establishing Rockin’ Oysters in 2009, I have built a commercial oyster business in the Camden Haven River harvesting Sydney Rock Oysters. I’m passionate about the environment and sustainability with a focus on water quality and health of the area. Oysters have been farmed in the region for more than 90 years with techniques improving continually to reduce impacts on the environment. Local farmers use an array of farming methods and waterways producing a unique variance in flavours or ‘terroir’ in our oysters. I encourage visitors to test it out and see for themselves. This region offers a unique opportunity combining beautiful surroundings, wineries, breweries and prime producers - making for a wonderful experience.
CAFE HAVEN CAN BE FOUND DOWN SOUTH SO DROP IN AND Dunbogan Boatshed sits on the banks of the Camden Haven River, radiating old world charm offering coffee & treats, fish feeding, relaxed seating on the deck and a tranquil marina. Grounded Espresso provides Melbourne style coffee and fresh light food, a café for all seasons. The Village Café opens early and serves an extra-large coffee what more is there to say? Sandbar Café restaurant offer ‘all day’ breakfast and a marvellous selection of local produce for lunch. North Haven Café is a quintessential coastal café serving everything from baked treats to fish and chips and a wide selection of ice-cream cones. For a charming hidden gem Miss Nellie’s Café in Kendall serves lovingly baked goodies, delicious coffee, scrumptious light meals and ice cream treats. Whether gardening is your gig or not take a wander through the garden centre for a delicious meal at Bonny Hills Garden Café, lucky visitors might see the ‘resident’ koala.
ENJOY A LOCAL BREW AND REVEL IN SOME LOCAL HOSPITALITY.
Oyster lovers take note: local oysters are not to be missed! Farmed in a pristine estuary surrounded by National Parks the local Sydney Rock Oysters have a unique flavour and are of the highest quality. #portmacquarie or #iloveportmacquarie 15

My wife Carole, son Tony and I operate Ricardoes, a truly family enterprise, on ethical green principles and solar energy. We started as a hobby farm in 2000 with a modest hydroponic setup and honesty box at the farm gate. It made a splash with locals and so we established ourselves professionally. Over the years we’ve expanded to 2ha of tomato greenhouses and four massive sheds of strawberry crops. Now we’re a tourist attraction with pickyour-own strawberries, a shop, café and daily farm tours. The heart of the business model is ‘See, Touch, Taste’ all in one location. We value-add to our produce by selling a big range of preserves made from our second-grade fruit, and our shop showcases a wide range of other locally grown and made products.
