were stacked very closely together making it very difficult to get the slings under the pallet, to the point where it was decided to attempt to drag the first pallet out to get the sling under and lift the load onto the truck. Whilst the pallet was being pulled out, the helper who was pushing the pallet to try and help it along was joined by the operator. As they were both pushing, the pallet tipped over and landed on the helper’s ankle. A series of lessons learned are listed at the end of the document, many of which are applicable to all typical lifting operations.
Dropped Scaffold Toe Board – Shared by TANAP
During the dismantling of a scaffolding inside a compressor building, a piece of the scaffold toe board was dropped from a height of 2.5 m and hit the face of a worker below. After the first medical intervention onsite, the worker received three stitches at the hospital. Root causes for this incident were identified and counter measures enacted, including line of fire trainings, scaffolding erection and dismantling risk assessment revision and related training.
Around 350 documents are sorted into various categories and grouped under “Lessons Learned” and “Safety Alerts”, including some bilingual texts; all languages are accepted. Note that, in addition to health and safety issues, major environmental incidents and best practices are also included. Three Most Viewed Documents on the Platform Tekfen Construction’s Off-the-Job Safety Handbook
The sponsor’s introduction to this 56-page second edition, published in 2021, covers the rationale behind the document: “Most of us are familiar with on-the-job safety. But what about health and safety off-the-job? It would probably surprise you to know how many of the deaths and injuries suffered by workers occur off the job. Recent statistics show that off-the-job accidents account for 25% more days lost by workers than accidents on the job. Motor vehicle accidents account for 63% of all off-the-job deaths, with the rest occurring at home or in public places. This suggests that our off-the-job safety sense may not be as strong as it should be....” This handbook is full of safety tips that could help keep you and your families safe and healthy, including chapters on traffic safety, fire safety, accidental poisoning, heat protection, childproofing, choking, drowning and first aid basics.
Accident While Lifting a Pallet with Slings
This accident, resulting in a fractured ankle, was published in January 2021 by an unknown source and is an example of a classic “small” accident. However, as the author states, “Every activity has its own importance for safety reasons. No “little” lifting exists.” At the yard two workers proceeded to load up a truck with pallets of bentonite, using slings through the pallets and lifting with the truck’s hydraulic loader crane. The pallets

Technology Catalogue supplier, of turning the IPLOCA platform homepage into a landing page as part of the global TechnologyCatalogue.com infrastructure.
The IPLOCA Members Technology Platform has two key objectives: to modernise the way IPLOCA helps connect the innovative technologies of IPLOCA members to potential clients, and to facilitate knowledge sharing between members.
As of today, the IPLOCA platform has received 44 innovative technologies from 30 innovative IPLOCA member companies. These technologies include pipeline manufacturing and coating solutions, as well as pipeline peripheral equipment, both for onshore and offshore deployment To improve the connection of IPLOCA members to potential clients via the platform we have received the proposal, from the
With this change, from the moment a technology is listed on the IPLOCA platform it would also be directly included on TechnologyCatalogue.com as well as on all pages of companies that have a subscription with TechnologyCatalogue.com.
To ensure a good transition, TechnologyCatalogue.com will offer free use of the starter subscription for one year to all IPLOCA suppliers. After that period IPLOCA members will start to pay a fee to create more visibility for their technology, to get data insights and take advantage of all the services that the platform offers. The goal is to submit this idea to the IPLOCA Board for approval in March 2023.
