A letter from your Happy Spring, bumblebees!

LTG

As we transition more into the summer mood with AP Tests winding down (way to hang in there you guys!), more summeryoutside service projects are coming in! The service of Division 21 doesn’t stop, not even when school is out, and summer starts! Make sure to stay updated with the division through Facebook, Email, and even Instagram! Thank you so so so much to those that attended the DCM last month. I hope you had a lot of fun, because I sure did! This month’s DCM will be a joint-DCM, and I hope you can all attend and represent our division! It’s so amazing, seeing all the work you guys are putting in and all the great service you are doing for our community. Keep it up, and see you very soon! In Love and Service,

Sea Choi

Cup Stacking Champs! ALICIA TAING | LYNNWOOD The DCM hosted by Sea was a valuable experience. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting old friends and a ton of new friends. Getting together in a spirited manner, I enjoyed the friendly competition we had and the energy that floated about the room. From the cleverness that was found in the cup games to the concentration of everyone playing the oreo game, it was a very thrilling dcm to attend. It was also really amazing to see everyone united in a somewhat strange but fun way. Taco munchers for the win! We may have lost but we won in our hearts. I think in the end we all won by getting to attend that dcm heart emoticon . Sea's first dcm made me excited for the rest to come, especially that join dcm coming up! I can't wait to see everyone again and feel the bumble bee spirit.

From the various games we played with just using cups to the buffet of food at the table, I look forward to more Dcms in the future from Sea. smile emoticon

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANTS; What’s good, Division 21?

First of all, I would like to say that I am so honored and privileged to be serving you guys on the divisional board this year as one of the executive assistants, and I promise not to fail anyone including myself by constantly working hard like a bumblebee! As for goals, I have many for our division in the upcoming term. One of my most highly prioritized goals is to help increase divisional engagement and involvement from clubs that haven’t been as involved as before. I plan to achieve this with the divisional board mostly through personal encouragement after getting to know people from some of these far away schools and planning DCMs at more accessible locations. Another one of my goals is to create more service projects for the DCMs as I strongly believe that love for service is the one thing we all have in Favorite food: Ramen common and can help us bond even closer noodlez together! I am so excited to serve and serve Favorite color: Black & White and serve this year, and I look forward to Ideal type: Just a shawty getting to know each and every one of you who is down to earth ya feel better like I know my neighbor’s cats. Favorite Food: Ice cream! Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream to be exact! I just love the taste of the cold and creamy texture on a hot summer day. (I'm actually eating Mint Chocolate chip Ice Cream as of right now while typing this) But if it had to be real food, I really like Jack In the Box Tacos! It's only $1 for two tacos!! Favorite Color: My favorite color is blue (I know, basic haha) and I'm also a hard-core blue on my color trait quiz! So if you need a shoulder to cry on, I'll be here for you! Hey Bumblebees!

NNIS ACH

My name is Dennis Mach from Mariner High School and I'm very excited and beyond grateful to serve you all as our new Divisional Executive Assistant! This year, I had the opportunity to go to DCON and meet so many new members within our Division. Being involved in Key Club has really taught me that this isn't just a club to make keys. It's a club that open doors to new opportunities in building character and leadership. I really want to make sure everybody in Key Club gets to experience the same thing as I did at my very first DCM. My objectives this year as Divisional Executive Assistant is to increase club membership around our division and to increase the participation in our Divisional Council Meetings! By doing so, I will make sure to reach out to the schools in our Division that is having difficulties with club memberships and having little participation in our DCMS. I'm really excited to work along with Sea and the other awesome Divisional Board members to make sure our DCMS are one of your most memorable Key Club experience! I'm ready for you, Division 21!

Hey bumblebees! This is Thinh Do and I will be your Divisional Secretary for the 2016-2017 Key Club year! A few things about me are I love food. Like all foods. However, my favorite would have to be tofu and rice. Besides that my favorite colors are blue and beige, my favorite EXO member is D.O. (forever obsessed), I enjoy sleeping in on weekends, and my absolutely most favorite club is Key Club! I am happy and extremely excited to serve Division 21 for another year! I hope to create a welcoming atmosphere at all divisional events so that everyone, especially members from faraway schools, will feel accepted and enjoy their time in Key Club. I want to be role model for good Key Club behavior as well as acknowledge members who are doing the same. I will do my best to help and find answers for all Key Clubbers who need help. Although I am lacking, I will try my hardest to make sure all bumblebees can soar through the sky and serve our wonderful beehive and beyond. I hope we can grow together and become the best Key Clubbers! Let’s show everyone how amazing Division 21 can be if we work our hardest! We can make D21 the best in the Pacific Northwest!

Preferred Charities Key Club participates with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by sponsoring fundraising events. Key Club members also participate in service projects at their local children’s hospital. For decades, Key Club has partnered with the March of Dimes to give every baby a healthy start. Key Club members raise thousands of dollars annually through various programs, including collecting change, holding dances and taking part in March of Dimes’ signature event, March for Babies.

Since 1994, Key Club has been Trick-or-Treating for Unicef and over the years has raised nearly US$5 million for iodine deficiency programs worldwide and HIV and AIDS programs in Kenya and Swaziland. Now it’s helping The Eliminate Project.

28

DIVISION 21 MAY 2016

GOODBYE TO ELIMINATE...

Key Club and Unicef partnered together to eliminate MaternalNeonatal Tetanus. MNT is a disease that hurts newborns, as well as their mothers, which eventually leads to death. Every 11 minutes, 1 baby dies from MNT; however, with just 1.80$, a mother can be vaccinated from this terrible disease, to save another life!

The PNW District this past year has raised over 79,000 dollars for the eliminate project! As the New District Project rolls around soon, let us not lose the passion and motivation we had during the Eliminate Project! We can change the lives of numerous people! DIVISION 21 MAY 2016
