JACKSON LYNNWOOD

MARINER MONROE DIVISIONAL BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT THINH – MEADOWDALE, D21 SECRETARY

Jackson High School's Key Club was

able to participate in "Kiwanis One-Day", sponsored by our Kiwanis. During this event, key clubbers picked up trash around Thornton A. Sullivan Park, lifted heavy picnic tables at Camp Patterson, and cleaned the paddle boats. Key Club teamed up with Boy Scout Troop #22 to assist the Silver Lake Kiwanis. Although many were bruised and sore after this labor experience, it all paid off when the volunteers joined together to eat at Alfy's. Overall, this was a great experience, as we all learned the value of teamwork by lifting picnic tables. As always, thank you key clubbers for your hard work and dedication!

Monroe High School Key Club is currently running a school-wide blood drive in which any student 16 years or older can volunteer to give blood! We are partnering with the Puget Sound Blood Center to encourage students to contribute to our community. This event is a great way to get the whole school involved in something super productive, and each donation can save up to three lives! Monroe Key Club is also participating in a variety of other activities, including our recent community clean-up on Earth day, and working on strengthening our connections with other clubs through DCMs and inter-club activities!

Key Club allows students to help better their community by volunteering to make a difference. Our two biggest fundraisers this year were rose sales in February and the blood drive last April. For the rose sales, we sold around thirty dozen roses and raised about $170 in profit. Also, we teamed up with Puget Sound Blood Center and put on a very successful blood drive. We reached our goal of sixty donors who in total donated forty-five units of blood. This will save up to 135 lives in our local community. Our goal in Key Club is to provide fun opportunities to get involved through volunteer service.

One of the biggest event that my Key Club has been a part of, in April, was Project Homeless. There wasn't that many Key Clubbers there, since it was in Seattle. But the size and impact of the event was big. To be a part of a event that size really spreads the word of Key Club and our motto: "Caring-our way of life".

This month, Kamiak Key Club participated in 4 major events. We held a Mukilteo Speedway cleanup on April 11. On April 18, we helped with the Mukilteo Community Garden cleanup. We volunteered in Uknight for Autism, a charity run held on April 25. Also, we participated in the Mukilteo Garage Sale. We raised over 2000 dollars for Free the Children.

In Lake Stevens we are trying to implement ideas learned from DCON, specifically regarding communication between officers and members. For example, we are going to begin to share the minutes of each meeting on google docs with our members. This will help keep members who couldn't make it informed and remind members who were there of upcoming events. Hopefully this will increase member involvement in service events and make the members feel more connected with the officers.
