A WORD FROM YOUR
Lieutenant Governor DIVISION 21 | PNW
Hello Division 21 Bumblebees! I hope you were all able to transition easily back into your school schedules! With all the new responsibilities, homework, sports, work, etc., I know it can get pretty hectic… But you know what keeps me sane amidst all the craziness in my life? KEY CLUB. If you are as excited as I am for another year of service, you are more than ready to participate in that first Key Club meeting of the school year! It’s crazy to think that I will be going into my third and final year in Key Club… However, if there is one thing I regret now, looking back as a senior, I wish I had joined Key Club sooner! This organization has provided me with so many opportunities to not only lead and serve, but also build relationships with the people I’d least expect to connect with. Key Club has showed me that there are no boundaries in the ways you choose to serve and lead, it is only a matter of the attitude you have and your willingness to put others’ needs before yours. So this year, I want to make sure that I am accessible and a reliable resource for all of you! I want to remind you all to promote Key Club actively in your schools so that the rest of your school can have the opportunity to learn more about this amazing organization! Go BIG or go home! Get creative! Remember that whatever method you choose to use to promote Key Club, you must do so while establishing personal connections with others. People are more inclined to join if you make the effort to make them feel welcomed and wanted. Officers, remember that you can’t expect your members to be passionate about something you yourself are not passionate about! YOU set the example. LEAD by example. Members, remember that you are the foundation of this organization and that you should never stop serving and promoting the club you are proud to be a part of! I wish you all the best of luck this upcoming school year! If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
With Love & Service,
Selina Nguyen
PNW Lieutenant Governor of Division 21 Key Club

A WORD FROM YOUR DIVISIONAL EXECUTIVE BOARD DIVISION 21 | PNW
""Hey guys! Are you excited for another crazy year of service? For many of you, the first meeting of the year will be taking place in a week or two. Remember, a promotional/inspirational video about Key Club can be a great way to kick off the year! It can let others know more about who we are and what we do. Have some fun ice breakers to let them feel like they belong! Also, visit the PNW Key Club website for any resources that you may need!! Hope you guys have a great year!” – Jessica Bae, Divisional Executive Assistant
"Hey Key Clubbers!! I hope your year is off to a great start! I know mine is! With fun SAT classes, lots of homework, work, and that thing called sleep, I can’t stop smiling… But you want to know one thing that keeps me going? Service. Service to all of those around me! That’s why I love Key Club, because it combines my three favorite things, service, bees, and an excuse to eat McChickens! The September DCM is the 27th, so don’t forget, because I probably will haha! Just kidding! We’re not quite sure about the location yet, but it’s going to be somewhere fun so don’t forget to invite new members! Just remember, if you feel like you need help with a meeting, or event, don’t forget to contact your board members! Oh and please send me invitations to all of your events this year! I will try my hardest to attend them all!! Oh and here’s a fun quote! “When I die, I want to die like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep not screaming like all the passengers in her car.” – Unknown Author “ – Kohta Hansen, Divisional Executive Assistant
“"Hello Division 21! How is everyone? Well the new school year is starting and hopefully the Key Club meetings are starting soon as well! The freshman are new and are just ready to be pulled into new experiences such as Key Club! That doesn't mean that upperclassmen can't be convinced into joining as well. One way to promote Key Club is by creating a members recruitment committee which would bring in new members as well as give old members a job and responsibility! That's all for now! Thank you and have a wonderful month!" – Thinh Do, Divisional Secretary

THE 2014-2015 PNW DISTRICT PROJECT With The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. This deadly disease steals the lives of nearly 60,000 innocent babies and a significant number of women each year. The effects of the disease are excruciating — tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch.
Visit www.theeliminateproject.org

EDUCATE YOURSELF. ADVOCATE TO THE WORLD. INVEST TO SAVE & PROTECT. MNT is Maternal Neonatal Tetanus. MNT is caused when tetanus spores, found in soil everywhere, come into contact with open cuts during childbirth. The disease strikes the poorest of the poor, the geographically hard to reach and those without health care.

Preferred Charities Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) is a nonprofit organization that raises money to benefit hospitalized kids while increasing awareness of its member hospitals. All CMN Hospitals contributions directly benefit hospitals, helping to purchase up-to-date equipment, train staff, conduct life-saving research, implement outreach programs and provide health care for children whose parents can’t afford to pay.
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. March of Dimes was founded by our 32nd President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, in the fight against polio. After the discovery of the polio vaccine, March of Dimes focused their efforts to improve the health of babies and has been successful with the help and enthusiasm of many grassroots volunteers.
