Greetings from your Lt.G Hello my lovely butterflies, What a month! I LOVE DIVISION 44. You all showed amazing spirit at Portland Rally and you left many people speechless with the energy that all of you showed. Also, thank you to everyone who came to our pre-rally DCM and helped make decorations. Needless to say, I am so happy with how well my term is going so far! All of the officers are doing a great job at turning in their reports, while our Divisional Board is working hard on planning the upcoming DCMs. Our August DCM will be a Portland Area Joint Scavenger Hunt on August 13th at Director’s Park from 3PM to 6PM. Coming up on August 25th is our Fall Training Rally. If you don’t know what that means, it is a officer training that is required by the Pacific Northwest District that all officers attend. However, members who are interested in running for officer positions are also welcome to attend!

In this newsletter you will get a recap of ICON, which I had the privilege to attend! You will also be able to read about the talented Elin Bertheau, who performed amazingly at PAR. Be sure to keep reading to find out more!

Greetings Greetings From From Yo Yo Hey Key Clubbers!! Wow! Summer is almost over. We have had a great past couple months so far, full of excitement, spirit and service. I am so proud of each and every single one of you. Especially after the Portland Area Rally, where our division won the spirit stick, Alex Harteloo won Most Spirit, and we had the most members in attendance!! Division 44 has exceeded all expectations, and is making everyone proud. I cannot wait to see all that our division does for this upcoming next year, and our spirit at upcoming events. See you all at the August DCM!!

Happy August, Butterflies! So much has been going on this month! Usually during the summer, clubs tend to simmer down, but this division has done the exact opposite. I was so blown away by everyone's spirit and energy at Portland Area Rally! I was so happy to see so many faces with such passion and excitement towards Key Club. I was so impressed at our group, and our ability to unite with even more enthusiasm than before. Our division went for the spotlight, and showed everyone what it's like to be the perfect group of key clubbers. I'm so proud and thankful to be a part of the best division out there; you all inspire me to work hard towards becoming a better key clubber. I have no doubt that I will yet again be amazed by your hype and dedication towards our club and service during the school year.

Hello Butterflies! I cannot explain how proud I am of Division 44's performance at the Portland Area Rally. If you haven't heard, our very own division won the PAR spirit stick for being the most spirited division! It's such an outstanding accomplishment and well deserved by the spirited individuals who attended PAR. I'd like to give the biggest thank you to our wonderful spirit committee comprised of Isaac Dizon, Melissa Hernandez, and Sandra Nguyen. Their continuous hard work and unmatched spirit is greatly appreciated and I could not do my job without them. PAR really was a PARadise to attend and I can't wait to see you all again soon. Please invite freshman, friends, anyone who you can think of to attend a club meeting. Think back to how you originally joined the club, most of you can say there was someone who persuaded you to join. Well it's your time now to be that person and show them all the wonders key club has to offer. One last time, I'm so proud of our division and proud to call myself a butterfly.

Hey Butterflies!! First off, I would like to give a huge congratulations to our division for winning the spirit stick at Portland Area Rally 2k17!!! As the only Key Clubber from my school who attended last year, I'm so proud of how big a step we've taken in just a year!! As we get into the last month before school starts again, never hesitate to contact us with any questions or ideas for fundraisers. Always remember that the members are the most important part of the Key Club structure and our job is to serve you and to serve our community together. Keep DCM attendance strong, start recruiting new members, and keep spreading our butterfly pride!

MEET ELIN BERTHEAU bUTTERFLY sPOTLIGHT 10

“

I've been surrounded by music my whole life, with my grandmother being a professional pianist, my grandfather a drummer and my aunt an opera singer. I've always had a passion for music and since I was 4 years old I wanted to become a singer. I started to not only sing but play the piano at age 6. Eventually that led to writing my own songs when I was 7. I continued to write songs but slowed way down during my 8th and 9th grade year. Then one day I went to go volunteer at a local marathon. Near the end we had a bunch of food left over, so my friend and I decided to give it to a homeless lady we had seen earlier that day. She then also asked for the (free) volunteer shirts we had been wearing and some Saint Patrick's day necklaces and glasses I'd been also wearing. It was a very eye opening experience to see how much need there is even in our own community. That event really woke me up and I started a new song note book with 20 new songs in a month! Key Club has really been an amazing way for me to grow not only as a person but songwriter and I'm so Elin Bertheau thankful to be involved in this club. Mountain View High School
