Greetings from Happy January! I hope everyone’s holidays went great and that you were able to transition well into going back to school. For me it was quite rough not being able to take naps at 12pm! It’s crazy that there’s only 3 months left until DCON but that means we have less than a month to get in registration by February 1st! To ensure that every club from our Division makes it this year please get started on the registration process ASAP. To say the least, December was a great month. Camas raised almost $900 for KCCP and was featured on the PNW Facebook page and on the Plog! I am also excited to announce that we will be having our very first Portland Area Dance to Cure and I believe after our exceptional attendance to Portland Rally that we can leave a mark at this dance too! Be sure to visit the Eventbrite linked on the Facebook page and Instagram and register because space is very limited. Here’s to a great month! 6

Greetings from your Y’all did a great job helping with the Walk n Knock, bell ringing, etc. Amazing! We will soon be having our elections for a new Lieutenant Governor, and although it saddens me that Ishu will be retiring, I know the division will be left in good hands! With the new year I just wanted to congratulate everyone on being spectacular. Every month I get more and more impressed and amazed about the service and dedication I see amongst our division, and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish in 2018! Happy New Year, butterflies! I can’t believe it’s already 2018, winter break went by really fast. It’s hard to get back into school, but at least we can look forward to DCON approaching! I hope you’re all trying to register, I’d love to have a lot of us represent 44 in March. I haven’t seen you guys in a while, and I hope to see you all at our January DCM, where we can all spend time with each other and take a break from school!

The holiday season has been a fun month of service with holiday-related volunteer events! Great job making Walk & Knock, the Salvation Army Bell Ringing, and the Foster Children’s Party so successful! And not to mention Concert to Cure raising a total of $863.50 for KCCP!!! Thank you so much to everyone who attended and supported!. Keep up the good work and congratulations to everyone for surviving half of the school year.
Happy new year butterflies! I hope you all had a wonderful and safe holiday season. With a new year comes new resolutions. Maybe Key Club can be a part of your goals. Attend more club events, go to DCMs, and do all you can for your club! Let’s all make 2018 an outstanding year of service and I can’t wait to see you all soon at future divisional events!

December DCM Recap Last month we had 52 people come to our DCM to make Christmas cards for veterans! We made about 48 cards while listening to festive holiday music. Afterwards we played a team game of singing bee where we sang about different random words to see which group could come up with a song that had the word in it. At the end we all walked together to the Camas HS theatre to go to the Concert to Cure. 12

“
The concert was the best hectic experience of my Key Club journey so far. From being at school for over 12 hours (it was a school day on Friday) for set-up to hosting a DCM in the library at the same time to climbing the steepest ladder in the world to the theater’s control booth, I was just about ready to collapse from fatigue. But I knew my club had my back. My treasurer, Grace, arrived at the scene with balloons to light up the mood onstage, my advisors came through with our school’s cashboxes, and my fellow Key Club volunteers cheered me up with their contagious humor. When I stepped onto the stage to welcome everyone, I was met with an amazing turn-out I didn’t expect. The guest speaker shared her experiences with KCCP and set the evening off to a great start. Despite some technical difficulties with an electric guitar and ending a lot later than planned, the concert went smoothly. Before long, I was home, kicking off my heels with the night’s events racing through my mind. My advisor had estimated that we raised $600 and I remember feeling beyond grateful for my club members as well as Division 44’s support.
Concert to Cure Camas High School
The next school day on Monday, my school’s ASB bookkeeper surprised me with the news that our grand total was $863.50!! I could barely process how one concert — at one school — that was my school — had raised so much in two hours. I can’t thank everyone who attended enough for their support and all I can say is that I’m so blessed to be a part of the Pacific Northwest District with leaders like Ishu who inspire me every day to take action and make a difference.
