Letter From Your Lt. G Hello hello! Happy June everyone, we’re almost done with the school year! As we say our goodbyes to the seniors, scramble to get our grades up and get ready for the summer, keep in mind that Key Club is not over during the summer. We have exciting summer DCMs, ICON and summer area rallies coming up! So as our motivation for school work deteriorates, make sure to keep the butterfly spirit alive. As always, the officers have been working hard to get reports in and support their clubs. Good luck on your finals everyone and remember to come take a break from your studies at our Joint Talent Show DCM this month! P.S. EVERYONE should go to Portland Rally on August 5th! In Care and Service, Ishu Poudyal Lieutenant Governor of Division 44 ltg44@pnwkeyclub.org (360)-216-9441

Divisional Board Greetings Hey Division 44! With the end of the school year coming, I know a lot of us are sad about having to say good bye to the seniors (we miss all of you already!!), and the decrease in Key Club events. But don't worry, we have a lot of fun activities planned for the summer! Can't wait to see where the seniors go in their future, and all the summer Key Club fun! đ&#x;’žđ&#x;’ž

Hey butterflies!!! I can't believe the school year is almost over, which means summer DCM's!!! On Divisional Board, I've been working to orgnaize a Chipotle Night for us to increase our funds through the summer. And to our seniors; D44 will miss you and support you wherever you go, good luck!

Hey Butterflies! Thank you to everyone who has been attending the DCMs, I look forward to meeting more of you guys every month. As summer comes around, don't forget to stay connected and recruit incoming freshman buddies. Keep an eye out for summer DCMs and you definitely don't want to miss the Portland Area Rally on August 5! Hope to see y'all there as well as other summer events!

Hello Butterflies! The spirit committee has been selected and I'm very excited to announce that Isaac Dizon, Melissa Hernandez, and Sandra Nguyen are your 2017-2018 spirit committee members! These people are such hard workers who will represent the Division well, so if you guys see them please congratulate them. Lastly, to the outgoing seniors; we all from Division 44 and Key Club itself cannot thank you enough, best wishes wherever life takes you.

Butterfly of the Month

Rachel Kinkley

Rachel is the sweetest and brightest person you will ever meet. Whether it's at a key club event or just a meeting she's always smiling and always has a way to make people smile and laugh. As a treasurer, she goes out of her way to help the other officers and even helps to plan events. She also helps to get more members involved in events as well as showing up to as many events as she can. She's a great person inside and out and has helped to make our club better. - Vanessa Hoang, Union VP

Tennis Fundraiser! June 17 | Union High School | 3PM to 6PM | $3 This will be a doubles tournament hosted by Union on June 17 from 3-6pm. You have to pay $3 to compete and that money goes to your school's key club. There'll also be a potluck so feel free to just come and hang out if you don't play tennis... or compete even if you don't play to support your club! Also, non Key-clubbers are welcome so tell all your friends!

May DCM Thank you to everyone who attended the May DCM! Good job on attendance, every school in our division was present this time, whoo let's keep it up! We had a blast hosting our version of the Korean variety show, Running Man, at Union! Teams got pretty competitive with multiple games, ending with tag involving name labels. Congratulations again to the orange team for winning the most points!

Club Updates Our recent change in meeting time was a little difficult for members, but the transition is getting better and communication through email and remind has improved. We were pretty active as a club this month with quite a lot of events including the Camas Plant and Garden fair, carnivals, and garage sales. In addition, we have implemented a raffle system to encourage involvement at the club and divisional level! – Ashley Teng, Camas President

May has been a pretty slow month -- there's been little momentum. We are mostly focusing on member recruitment and advertising. I was absent for two of May's meetings due to AP testing, and while I was gone, the outgoing president, Daloun, ran the meetings. We are currently in the midst of preparing for next year. My V.P. and I are having the remaining members come up with methods of attracting more members (i.e. posters, fliers, utilizing social media, going class to class, etc.). – Ivan Felix, Evergreen President

This month we went over the final days for Dozer day, talked about the DCM and point system, talked about the spirit committee, and lastly played "bonding" games - Erika Vera, Fort Vancouver President

This past month we basically worked on planning for next year in terms of meeting times and how often. We also planned for our end of year banquet. Also we had our LTG Ishu come and visit and helped us plan for the future and presented info about the Portland Rally. We look forward to the future of our club and hope all graduating seniors have a wonderful graduation and post high school life :) – Nick San, Heritage President

Club Updates In the past month our club has held two meetings informing our members on important upcoming events such as Dozer Days, Walk For The Animals, The Unified Soccer Tournament, Hazel Dell Parade and The Rose Festival Half Marathon. A handful of our members attended Dozer Days, and a select few attended The Unified Soccer Tournament. My officers and I have been working hard trying to form a strong club for next year, focusing our efforts into electing committee chairs for the 2017-2018 school year for our fundraising committee, membership development committee and our division convention committee. – Madisen Alvarez, HeLa President

In the beginning of last month we did not have very many events or anything going on due to AP season. The end of last month was when we started to be involved in more events. The events that we did were the Fairy Tale Festival at Cascade Library, Dozer Days, the May DCM, and the Portland Rose Festival Marathon. – Channika Kim, Union President

We had many events for our Key Clubbers to participate in this past month. It was a great month of service! - Sabrina Wang, Mountain View President

Convention Chair

Hey PNW! My name is Vivia Zhu, and I’m looking forward to serving as your 2017-2018 Convention Chair! I’m currently a junior at Thomas Jefferson High School, and I’m a proud Division 33 Kraken. This past year, I’ve had the honor of being your Convention Aide and planning DCON 2017, and I’m so excited to continue and make DCON 2018 an even more enjoyable experience. Some of my goals for this year are to increase attendance (especially from smaller divisions), improve the registration and travel process, and create more opportunities for member involvement. Ever since I joined Key Club my freshman year, I’ve been amazed by the amount of spirit, compassion, and selflessness shown by each and every Key Clubber. That is why DCON is not only a celebration of the incredible work that you have put in to serve your community, but it is also an acknowledgment of your passion and dedication to Key Club. I am SO humbled to be a part of this fantastic organization and to serve all of you! If you ever have questions, ideas, or just want to say hello, feel free to contact me over email or social media. Can’t wait to see you all at DCON 2018 :) In Love and Service, Vivia Zhu

Membership Growth and Reactivation Chair

Hello Pacific Northwest District Key Clubbers! My name is Dennis Mach and I truly am honored and thrilled to be serving you, as your Membership Growth and Reactivation Chair for the 2017-2018 service year. I am from Division 21, home of the Bumblebees, and I also go to Mariner High School, home of the Marauders! Key Club has made a significant impact in my life, and I want to make sure that every future key clubber and member get that same experience. In Membership Growth, I plan on establishing an ideal goal with my committee for our district, which is to reach 13,500 Key Club members by DCON 2018 in Portland, Oregon. I plan on promoting membership resources, reactivating suspended/inactive clubs, producing membership recruitment videos, updating Key Club flyers and chartering new clubs. I will also work really close with our current District Treasurer to make sure that all clubs are paying their dues on time. As Membership Growth and Reactivation Chair, I plan on utilizing my knowledge of working as Club President, Divisional Executive Assistant, and implement my perspective as well with others, in order to have a more productive term. I also plan on hearing out your ideas on how we can work towards achieving active membership growth together. If you have any questions, please do not feel hesitate to contact me! I hope to get to meet as many of you as I can this upcoming year! In Love and Service, Dennis Mach

Communications Chair

Hi Everyone! My name is Andy and I am absolutely elated to be the next Communications Chair at PNW Key Club! I am from Division 56 (Go Penguins!) and I am currently a Sophomore at Pullman High School. I joined Key Club as a Freshman with a goal broaden my social circle and serve the community in even greater ways. I can now say Key Club has fallen no short of the expectation I had. In fact, it has been even more life changing than I envisioned. Through Key Club, I have been able to strengthen my character, make life-long friendships, and give back to the community in a truly special way. There is no better package than what you can get out of being a part of this organization. This year, I hope to be able to deliver the same message I got from being in Key Club to everyone in the district. I will work to make sure all the clubs of the PNW, no matter how isolated or depleted they are, are able to be constantly updated and connected with the rest of the district. This will include sending out physical copies of resources to clubs, increasing involvement across all social media platforms, and creating more videos/recaps of major events for everyone to follow-up on. In my free time, I love to be outdoors, playing sports, getting involved with other school activities, and making jokes with friends. I can’t wait to work with you all and if you ever have any questions, ideas, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Here’s to another fantastic year of service! In Love and Service, Andy He

District Projects Chair

My name is Danielle Bae and I am so excited to serve as your 2017-2018 District Project Chair. My home school is Skyline High School (GO SPARTS), the same as our lovely Division 28 Ltg, Heliqiong Sun. In terms of district project, I hope that together we will be able to reach our district project goal by the end of next March! The PNW has so much potential in fundraising and I wish to unlock your talents and truly strive to reach our goals. Key Club is a one of a kind opportunity that I have had the privilege of experiencing in my high school career and I hope that it will have an impact on all of you just as it has on me. Outside of Key Club, I lose sleep over my DECA competitions, try to not be lazy and attend my dance classes, attempt to debate at JSA meetings/events, spend all my money on buying school spirit gear, spend whatever is left on food with my friends and go to church on a regular basis. But all in all, fundraising can seem like a difficult or gigantic responsibility to take on, but I assure you that if we help and rely on each other, reaching our goals will seem simple! Please let me know if you need help or have any questions regarding our 2017-2018 district project. Or you can just contact me to talk, I don't bite (:!! In Love and Service, Danielle Bae
