Greetings from your Lt.G Happy October, Butterflies! I know the transition from summer to school must have been difficult, because trust me, it definitely was for me. But either way, I am so ecstatic to see all the clubs recruiting new faces and having their first meetings! As you continue to read this newsletter issue you will see how excited I am for Halloween/spooky month because it means it is time for TRICK-OR-TREAT for UNICEF! As I visit more clubs and attend more club officer meetings, I will be helping clubs individually to help the member recruitment process in any way that I can. However, ALL of the clubs have done an amazing job on this so far! Keep up the good work. In other news, we had such an amazing turnout at last month’s DCM (read pg. 16) that I have a good feeling we will have an even better turnout at our October DCM. This month’s DCM will be at HeLa so help us reach this goal by being there! I wish all the seniors the best in their college applications process and know if you ever need any help on them, I am happy to help! Otherwise, keep doing service and ALWAYS do your homework! 4

This month, we recruited about 20 additional members at our Open House. We've been volunteering at various events in Downtown Camas and we represented well at the DCM with 14 people! At the Kiwanis Baby Food Drive, 4 Camas people were able to help out. Overall, club organization is really coming along with 3 official committees and class representatives. We have been planning fundraisers for the entire year so we're prepared and we're also still seeing new members showing up at our meetings.

PROJECT ELIMINATE With The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. Neonatal tetanus kills one baby every 11 minutes—nearly 49,000 newborn children every year. A significant number of women also die due to maternal tetanus. The effects of the disease are excruciating—tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch. We need your help to provide vaccines, resources, and education for these communities!
