Greetings from the Lt. Governor GREETINGS! Hello Division 44! After a long and relaxing 3 months of summer vacation it is time to return back to our usual busy lives of school, sports and clubs. Find time this month to lend a helping hand at upcoming service events, and actively participate in exciting Key Club meetings! Lets work hard at spreading the meaning of Key Club throughout our schools, attracting new members to join us in service.

Monthly Goals For the month of September one of our main priorities should be advertising Key Club to our school whether that’s creating posters, going on school announcements or passing out flyers to the student body. Challenge yourselves this month to mix up meetings with get to know you icebreakers, a potluck or a service project. Allow people to see all Key Club can accomplish in the world whether that’s raising $110 million for ELIMINATE, making blankets for the homeless and so much more.

In Care and Service, Alyssa Libak

August DCM At our August DCM, members from our seven clubs gathered together to create no-sew blankets for the homeless. Thanks to these volunteers, we successfully made 8 blankets to keep those in need warm throughout the winter.

What’s up with the clubs? Heritage- By Ernesto Zurita (President) We hope to start off the year strong after recruiting 81 members at our orientations last month. Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 13th. We have planned two park clean ups for the month of October, one of them being for Make A Difference Day on October 22nd at Luke Jensens's Sports Complex. Together with our new club members, we will vote on what service projects we will want to work on for the next months before the start of winter. We hope to bring out Heritage High School Key Club this year unlike ever before. Evergreen- By Daloun Inthathirath (President) Evergreen has been on the down low lately, but make a great comeback at freshman orientation scouting out many interested students! Our first meeting will be on September 13th (hooray!) where we plan and decide on what our first event in the month of October will be. We are looking forward to a great year!

Union- By Melody Gao (President) Can you believe that two weeks of school has already passed! Time flies! Union Key Club th had its first meeting on Friday September 9 and treated everyone with doughnuts. On th September 17 , you can find us at the public library helping out with the "In The Jungle" program. Also this month, we will be selling Threads of Hope to support the Philippine families that produce the threads and to fundraise for our club. Part of the money raised will be donated to KCCP, our district project. We will be selling round bracelets, flat brackets, lanyards, and key chains that range from $2 - $5. If you’re interested in purchasing one, contact a Union Key Club member!

Mountain View- By Karen Gong (President) Mountain View Key Club has an exciting start to the month of September! The first meeting of the school year brought a lot of new prospective members to the club! With one of the biggest events of the year happening in the upcoming month, September is when MVHS Key Club likes to recruit members to help out at the Portland Marathon. As one of the top three marathons in the continent and thousands of runners every year, the Portland Marathon requires many volunteers to make sure the event runs smoothly. Being a Portland Marathon volunteer is very important because the volunteers make sure the runners are safe from drivers and other obstacles. The month of September is the month of recruitment for Mountain View Key Club!
