Greetings from your Lt.G Hi everyone! I hope everyone’s first week of school was not too overwhelming. I am so excited to start off this new school year with all our wonderful clubs, I know all of you will do a fantastic job this year! As our first few meetings approach I hope that all of you are hard at work to ensure you are reaching out to all prospective members. Be sure to keep your membership goals in mind as you collect dues for the next 2 months! We are working hard to provide you with all of the resources you will need to do all of this AND connect with other clubs! Also, thank you to everyone who came to the Portland Area August DCM, we all had a blast exploring Portland Downtown through a scavenger hunt. We will be having this month’s DCM at Heritage so encourage all of your members to attend this month’s DCM so they are connected to the divisional level as soon as they enter Key Club! KCCP Week to raise awareness for KCCP is also coming up early-October so keep reading to find out more. Finally, if your club has a good service project idea but does not have the funding, apply to the Pacific Northwest Opportunities fund. You can find more information about the PNWOF in this newsletter or on pnwkeyclub.org! 4

Greetings From You It is crazy that school is already in session; it feels like summer flew by too fast. I hope everyone is doing great in their new classes, as well is as excited for this year! I know I sure am! Us club officers and the divisional board have lots of exciting events planned for the future, such as the upcoming DCM's! I hope everyone can attend and enjoys! I also want to introduce myself to all the new members who are joining Key Club this year! It is very exciting and I hope to get to know each and everyone this year!

Can you believe school has already started? I feel like summer truly went by in a blink of an eye (catch that rhyme!). I'm excited to see all of the clubs grow and finally become active again! I hope you're all recruiting new freshmen!! It's also important to mention, with part of the Pacific Northwest burning down, Key Clubbers are given the opportunity to once again prove our love for helping the community. I hope to be able to discuss this and steps to take to help with you all. I am looking forward to seeing you all at the next dcm!

Hope everyone’s first weeks of school went well! Hopefully, club meetings have kicked off with a great start. Club officers, keep in mind member dues deadlines! Reach out to other clubs as well as ASB to network with your school community and open more volunteer opportunities. Hope to see everyone at the September DCM and hope y’all stayed safe during the past few days of ash pollution from the Eagle Creek fire.

School is back in session which means it's a great time to ask a friend to join Key Club. Go out there, ask a friend, get them to attend a meeting; show them how great Key Club is! With school back in session it's easy to forget about all the service opportunities, so keep on the lookout for ones in your club! Don't forget to bring a friend to our up-coming DCM and show them all the fun and excitement Key Club can provide!

“

HeLa Key Club had a blast at Relay for Life! We had a great turn out of volunteers and the Cascade Park Kiwanis President-elect Mike Downey was our amazing chaperone! While half of our team walked the track, the rest were busy making custom ordered handmade bracelets to sell from our booth. Also included at our booth were paintings by our club president, Madisen Alvarez, and photography prints by me. Our biggest success of the night was winning the chili cook-off with chili made by our wonderful club advisor, Patricia Riley! The Relay was an awesome bonding experience and although it was exhausting and freezing during the night, I think I speak for everyone when I say that it was worth every second. HUGE thank you to everyone who came to help out!

HOW TO CONNECT WITH A K-KIDS CLUB Service Projects No-Sew Blankets Card Making for KCCP Patients School Clean-Ups Start a community garden Tree planting Toy drives for KCCP Start a Mentorship Program! Attend their meetings!

K-FAMILY TIPS FOR THE BEGINNING OF THE

SCHOOL YEAR Introduce Yourself: The first step of increasing your K-Family Relations is simply introducing yourself! This can be as simple as sending an email to your sponsoring Kiwanis Clubs or saying hi at a meeting.

Attend Kiwanis Meetings: With the school year back in session our calendars seem to fill up quickly but don’t start slacking on attending Kiwanis meetings! You should be aiming to attend one meeting per month and if you aren’t always able to attend, try going to one of their service projects!

Reach out to Different Branches: Did you know that there are five other branches out the Kiwanis Family? K-Kids, Builders Club, Circle K, Aktion Club, and Kiwanis! Reach out to any of these branches and attend one of their meetings.

Start Planning for Kiwanis One Day: Kiwanis One Day is a great way to connect with the rest of your Kiwanis-Family! This year, Kiwanis One Day will be October 28th. To learn more about Kiwanis One Day, read down below!

KIWANIS ONE DAY Each year, the Kiwanis-Family branches around the world come together on the fourth Saturday of October for Kiwanis One Day. Kiwanis One Day is a day of united service among all of the K-Family branches recognized by Kiwanis International. Each Key Club is encouraged to join with the rest of their K-Family - K-Kids, Builders Club, Circle K, Aktion Club, and Kiwanis - to take part in Kiwanis One Day on October 28th.

KIWANIS ONE DAY IS ON OCTOBER 28TH
