SHREWSBURY student housing Morris guildhouse student partnership POD Architects are appointed by the Morris Guildhouse Student Partnership to design the student accommodation for the University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS). The project started in June 2015 and the site is situated within the conservation area of Shrewsbury. It has local significance with Historic England who were active participants in the design process.

Planning permission was submitted within 4 months of appointment and was granted permission within an 8 week deliberation timetable by committee. The masterplan provides 217 student bedrooms set as a dormitory layout with security, laundry, management facilities and post graduate bedrooms. The complex is placed into an urban landscaped garden providing a new green space in the town centre.

SPURSTOWE TERRACE CHARLES BENTLEY LTD Situated in Hackney, Spurstowe Terrace is a new mixed use residential and commercial scheme, in reaching distance of Hackney Downs station, which achieved planning permission in 2014. The project comprises 24 residential flats with 272 Sq.M of B1 office space at ground floor, providing suitable space for local start up companies. The scheme adds to the growing regeneration of Hackney.

The project involves the demolition of a disused 1970s training building and the complicated planning process dealt with overlooking, light and massing issues to achieve a successful design to compliment the area.

gROVE HOUSE Camberwell, pRIVATE CLIENT POD Architects were appointed to extend this house in the trendy area of Camberwell, London. An uninterrupted flow of spaces from the centre of the house provides new spaces towards the garden.

sotheby HOUSE islington, pRIVATE CLIENT A previously claustrophobic and cramped house, we were commisioned to extend the house and uplift the existing features.

sea house kent, private client Located on the Kent coast, The Sea house is a conversion which attains indoor/outdoor swimming pool, games room, five bedrooms and a cinema.

the white house kent, private client The white house is a new build that provides a series of large contemporary spaces centred around an open-plan family space.

bakersfield, kent mcculloch homes Bakersfield, situated in Rainham, Kent, consists of an 80 unit masterplan. Pod Architects designed a community scheme which accommodates public spaces and existing community structures. The scheme had a complex planning process, for this green belt, edge of town, site. Pod paid particular attention when designing the masterplan which provided generous public and private spaces and a layout which accommodated good natural light within the dwellings.

funton brickworks, kent nightingale homes estate Pod Architects were appointed to design the masterplan for this residential project on a sensitive disused brick work site at the edge of the river Medway, in Sittingbourne. The site contains 5500 Sq. M of disused industrial kilns, warehouses and out houses. The master-plan was designed to create a small residential complex which incorporates this rich history, re-using the brick chimneys and kilns and the traditional Funton brick that made this place of historical interest.

86 FETTER LANE, LONDON TIAA HENDERSON REAL ESTATE This building is a 1990’s office building located in the lively Holborn area. The existing plan is complex and the façade is not inviting. Pod Architects were appointed to replan the floor plates and rework the public areas and façade to rejuvenate the asset for Henderson’s Central London Office Fund (CLOF). The design provided office space at ground floor and residential above.

conyer creek, kent ipm sipp ltd Conyer Creek is situated at the edge of a wildlife sanctuary and marina in Kent. Pod Architects designed this exclusive 24 unit new residential development which commands spectacular natural views within this SSSI landscape.

lordswood urban extension, chatham, kent ipm sipp ltd Lordswood Urban extension is located on a site surrounded by ancient woodland. This unique development was developed to embrace this rich rural setting containing 89 ecologically friendly residential units. Working with this beautiful landscape, the project sustains itself by using a woodland furnace and is designed to be constructed from local sustainable materials.

The project found that there was sufficient woodland resource available, both adjoining the developed area and also within that part of Cowbeck Woods. This created an opportunity to run a woodfuel-powered biomass facility providing heat to the dwellings from the products arising from the reintroduction of coppice management, running in accordance with nature conservation principles.

ark lane, kent edsr Pod Architects were asked to design the initial concept of a new 20-unit residential masterplan in the conservation area of Deal, Kent, which included the provision of 5 artist studios for the local community. The issues of a flood-prone site and delicate inner town context were accommodated within this masterplan.
