About the Commencement Speakers
Louie Giglio is pastor of Passion City Church and the original visionary of the Passion movement, which exists
to call a generation to leverage their lives for the fame of Jesus. Since 1997, Passion has gathered college-aged young people in events across the United States and around the world, and continues to see 18- to 25-year-olds fill venues across the nation in pursuit of lives lived for God’s glory. Most recently, Passion hosted 65,000 college students and their leaders at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, at Passion 2020.
In addition to the collegiate gatherings of Passion Conferences, Giglio and his wife, Shelley, lead the teams at Passion City Church, sixstepsrecords, Passion Publishing and the Passion Global Institute. Giglio is the national best-selling author of Not Forsaken, How Great Is Our God: 100 Indescribable Devotions about God & Science, Goliath Must Fall, Indescribable: 100 Devotions About God & Science, The Comeback, The Air I Breathe, and I Am Not But I Know I Am. The Giglios make their home in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dan Cathy is CEO of Chick-fil-A, representing the next generation of leadership for the Atlanta-based fast-food
chicken restaurant chain founded by his father, S. Truett Cathy. Holding purposeful conversations, ideation sessions, and regularly camping out with guests at Chick-fil-A restaurant grand openings all throughout the country, his leadership style stems from a personal belief that working in the field creates a two-fold return: gaining a clearer understanding of his customers’ needs and creating an authentic example of service to more than 100,000 staff and team members.
Over the years, Cathy has become known as a respected leader, speaker, and influencer in the business community. When he’s not sharing the Chick-fil-A story at corporate gatherings, business schools, and other events, he can be found behind the counter of a Chick-fil-A restaurant, because “that’s where the people are.” Cathy’s passion for his community can be felt through his involvement in numerous organizations. He serves on multiple boards and remains actively involved in various ministries, philanthropies, and nonprofits, including: City of Refuge, Passion City Church, The Rock Ranch, and outreach ministries that make up the WinShape Foundation, an organization created by his parents in 1984. He and his wife, Rhonda, live on a farm south of Atlanta, where they regularly host gatherings with their two sons, Andrew and Ross, and enjoy time with their three grandchildren.
Graduation Honors
Students who earn a grade point average of 3.500 through 3.699 are graduated cum laude, 3.700 through 3.899 are graduated magna cum laude, and 3.900 through 4.000 are graduated summa cum laude. Associate degree graduates receiving these honors are identified with silver tassels and silver honor cords. Bachelor's degree graduates receiving these honors are identified with gold tassels and gold honor cords. Blue honor cords indicate student-athletes who are graduating with honors. The Hathcock Award is the highest honor Point University awards to a student graduating with a bachelor's degree. This recognition is based on academic achievement, character, and servant leadership.
About Point University
Founded in 1937 as Atlanta Christian College, Point University is preparing students to influence culture for Christ in all spheres of life. Point University’s purpose is to equip students to take their faith into the marketplace in new and culturally relevant ways — to erase the lines between who they are and what they do so that they see life and mission as one and the same.
