SEWING
HOW TO USE YOUR SEWING MACHINE (3 HRS.)
Did you buy a sewing machine and then you weren’t quite sure how to use it? Bring your machine, foot pedal, power cord, machine accessories, thread and manual to this workshop. We will cover all the functions of your machine and get you on the road to sewing.

JEWELRY-MAKING

PHOTOGRAPHY
BEGINNING DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY (15 HRS.)
In this hands-on class you will start with the elements of composition and move on to learning about histogram and the exposure triangle. Learn about the different shooting modes, from Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority and Manual and how you can take advantage of each. Participants must bring their own camera. Photography is a skill you learn by doing so we will take pictures during class followed by critiques so you can improve each image.

HOME & GARDEN
BASIC FLORAL DESIGN (16 HRS.)
Learn all the basics of becoming a floral designer including proper techniques and design elements to make a variety of arrangements. Each student will take home what they make in class. The designs include mound, triangle, L-shape designs, a dozen roses vased, vase and basket arrangements, corsage and boutonniere-making, proper wiring techniques, bow-making, novelty containers, and much more.

INTERMEDIATE FLORAL DESIGN (16 HRS.)
Create stunning floral arrangements with more advanced techniques in wiring and structures. Students will take home what they make in class. Designs will consist of traditional and modern styles using a variety of flowers that require special care. Create new and modern designs using the elements of structures and armatures. Prerequisite: Basic Floral Design

THE ART OF PLANT SELECTION (4 HRS.)
This class will cover techniques for selecting plant material. Learn to utilize color, texture, form and layering to enhance the beauty of your landscape and create four seasons of interest. The class will start with a classroom portion and move to a nearby garden center for the 2nd half. Students are responsible for their own transportation to the garden center. This class is taught by a landscape architect.

LANDSCAPE DESIGN (15 HRS.)
Learn the design process a professional uses to create a plan. Use principles of design, basic drawing techniques, plant selection and discussion of common design issues to transform your home landscape. This class is taught by a landscape architect. Please bring photos and plans of the project you want to work on for the first day of class.

BUILDING A RAIN GARDEN (2 HRS.)
Dealing with drainage issues can be a challenge for any homeowner. A rain garden can be a great solution to drainage issues and add some color to the landscape. Learn the basic techniques and plant material for a DIY rain garden.
