PRACTICAL NURSING* (1100 HOURS, 11 MONTHS)

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

Students will learn and train to become Licensed Practical Nurses in our cutting-edge classroom and lab setting. • • • • • • • •

Nursing and medical care for adult, pediatric, maternity, and geriatric patients Monitoring patient’s health and providing basic medical care Preparing and administering medications, including injections and IV therapy Applying bandages and dressings for wounds Inserting catheters Caring for tracheostomies Keeping patients comfortable and caring for their emotional needs 1100 total hours, including 788 hours of classroom instruction, 146 hours of skills lab experience, and 166 hours of clinical rotations in a healthcare setting

INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICAL TROUBLESHOOTING Polaris Career Center has an electrical training lab with individualized learning stations replicating the typical components and operations of various industrial machines. Topics include troubleshooting and diagnosing systems using schematics, three-phase motors and control circuits, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) systems. EPA SECTION 608 CERTIFICATION HVAC industry technicians who maintain, service, repair and dispose of refrigerant-containing equipment must be certified under the EPA Section 608 of the Clean Air Act. Polaris instructors can help companies study, practice and sit for the Type I, II, III and Universal certifications. HVAC PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE HVAC and Maintenance Technicians can train and work hands-on with a variety of systems at your location or in Polaris Career Center’s HVAC lab. Topics can include reading electrical schematics, sheet metal fabrication, troubleshooting and repairing residential and light commercial units. LEADERSHIP & COLLABORATIVE TEAMS Polaris Career Center can work with your specific needs at all leadership levels – entry-level to top-level executives. Training can target all areas of communication, including decision-making skills, managing conflict, and building a growth-oriented team. IT PROGRAMMING: COMPTIA CERTIFICATIONS Polaris Career Center offers CompTIA certification classes in ITF+, A+, Network+, and Security+. MICROSOFT SUITE & GOOGLE APPS Polaris trainers can expand your employees’ comfort level and knowledge of MS products to improve office productivity and collaboration. Training can be done at Polaris or your location, with one employee or many. In the event high school classes are canceled, adult education classes will meet as scheduled. If adult education classes must be canceled because of inclement weather or other conditions, the school will post a notice on the school’s website.

WITHDRAWALS AND REFUNDS

The Adult Education Department must cancel courses that do not attain the required minimum enrollment. The Adult Education Department reserves the right to cancel, discontinue, postpone, or combine courses before or at the first class meeting. Attempts are made to contact all students whose courses have been canceled. In the event a class is canceled, a full refund of the registration fee will be given.

Full refunds will be issued when a class is canceled by the Adult Education Department, or previously made payments may be applied to another class. No refunds will be issued after the first class meeting. A $10 cancellation fee will be withheld from all refunds. Books and supplies/materials are non-refundable. If a student paid by check or cash, the refund will be disbursed within 45 business days in the form of a Polaris Career Center check. If the student paid using a credit card, the refund will be credited within 45 business days on the credit card initially charged. Any refund that totals $1 or less will remain on the student’s account as a credit balance.

1098-T Tax forms will be provided per Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Guidelines. Students must contact the Administrative Coordinator by January 31 to receive a 1098-T form for all Continuing Education classes.
