Prof project: Hotel in Västervik Studio: Nomo studio / Barcelona Head: Karl Johan Nyqvist Site: Västervik, Sweden

Nordic Resort is a hotel without any lobby at all, where check in takes place at the entrance or via app. This concept allows to create a surface efficient hotel where are reduced down areas that people cannot pay for. The main idea is to use prefabricated elements in order to build rooms at the factory, then ship them to the site and lift them up to the structural grid. It was decided to make attic spaces (which do not require heating) to avoid the classic long hotel corridors, and to create private and public places for guests. Maintenance free green environment was created by small plants on the facade that can be outdoors all year round.

Prof project: Single family house Studio: Nomo studio / Barcelona Head: Karl Johan Nyqvist Site: Menorca, Spain

Menorca House is the single family house located in the mountains of Menorca. There is wonderful view to the sea from the current plot of the house. To save the view it was proposed to make the first floor almost all open with terrace and barbecue area which you can reach from the combined kitchen with leaving room. All other necessary rooms for the family are on the ground floor, which also has the entrance to a pool area. The main idea was to merge the villa with the environment of the island. For this reason, stone blocks (20x40) of sand colour were chosen as the both exterior and interior material. For the interior also was proposed to use beige colours and pure natural materials such as concrete, wood and stone.

Master

Course: Internet of cities / Self-sufficient district Studio: Iaac / 2018 Group work with Maria Uporova Faculty: Vicente Guallart, Mathilde Marengo Site: Superblock, Barcelona, Spain

Playland is an attempt to create a self-sufficient neighbourhood focusing on the public space for diverse users. The goal was to create a modern, comfortable space as well as to give an opportunity to citizens to be aware of an extremely significant issue - Energy. The vast majority of humans has no idea about its importance, so the aim of the project -“to teach citizens through the game, to involve people to the Green Energy production process. Superblock was chosen as a site for the project. This area is currently one of the most important development plans in the city.

Playland

The existing empty space of the area has been used as a one platform. The concept was to interpret this platform as a flat. The flat consists of rooms that vary in sizes, levels and types of activity. A variety of tools is installed in every room which is able to produce energy due to the interaction with people. The producing Green Energy flows into the storage (central building), then to the surrounding buildings.

Different parts of the platform are used differently during the day, to give all people a chance to be part of energy production. In the morning the most popular space is a garden (I). In the noon the most crowded place is the space for office workers. Afternoon the funniest place playground (II) is becoming alive. Children are also involved to the Energy process. In the evening citizens have an opportunity to watch a movie using the amphitheatre (III). I Garden

Workshop

Workshop: Green cities Studio: The why factory workshop in Iaac / 2019 Group work with MACT students Faculty: Winy Maas, Javier Arpa, Adrien Ravon, Lex te Loo Site: Milan, Barcelona, Kinshasa, Sao Paulo In the last decade, sustainability has become a buzz word in all fields, specifically in the building arts. It’s known that green has the capacity to increase biodiversity, help cool cities and help with water related issues etc. But is it quantifiable? Will an all green city solve issues related to climate change and pollution? In this study the aim was to explore the pros and cons of this controversy by quantifying these assumptions. 1- the world was classified in 14 biomes. 2- mapping of biophysical ecosystem services. 3- sorting of plants from all biomes. 4- typology of covering. 5- visualisation of these green cities.

Course: Diploma Studio: Moscow Architectural Institute Group work with Maria Uporova Faculty: Shutikov A. Vasilieva E. Nikishin D. Site: Factory “Arma”, Moscow, Russia

Art Cluster - the project to transform an industrial territory in the east of central Moscow into a new modern area with a rich cultural life and comfortable public spaces, active ground floors, as well as an efficient transport system, walking and cycling routes. The idea of Art Cluster is to activate the development of the creative industry through the designing of a comfortable and creative urban environment. Art Cluster is the centre of different activities and also new model of living. The plot is located close to the river “Yauza” and within walking distance from the “Garden Ring”- the main road of Moscow city.

The area has diversity of functionsbusiness, residential, educational and cultural areas. The most crucial thing is that the plot is surrounded with art clusters such as Business centre “Arma”, Factory “Crystal”, Design centre “Artplay”, Centre of Contemporary Art among significant historical places as Manor House, Tupolev museum, Art College. Existing complexes are located plenty far from each other. Taking this fact into account the primary aim of the project is to combine all these clusters and create united art fabric. Analysis the area shows that there is a lack of specific spaces. In spite of popularity of multifunctional territory, time of being there is limited, that contradicts the lifestyle of main users - creative people.

Art Cluster

Art Passage - multifunctional transit space. It is a passage that combined all missing spaces of surrounding clusters in one fabric. The designed area is divided to equal modules. The size of one module is 10 x 10 meters. Using these modules it was created different spaces: educational centre, laboratory, museum, theatre, library. The location of these buildings is directly linked with the infrastructure of the district. There is pedestrian path that connect all parts of Art Cluster. More then that it creates squires and terraces inside of the passage. The spaces that is between buildings is covered by glass roof.

Art Cluster

The concept of the passage is to give citizens an opportunity either go through the active ground floor, to be a part of events happening in squares or have access to diverse types of buildings. The path of the user starts with the glass building that is information centre. Office building is the lighthouse of the cluster. There is museum in front of the office. It has a cafe inside and outdoor space next to it. Imminently after office building there is an art school that is connected with the next building which is laboratory. So users can visit two constructions without going out. Theatre takes its place in the red circle building that is located at the right corner of the area. Besides the performing place there is the exhibition space. Library is established in the end of the pedestrian path. It is three storey building with the large terrace which is at the side of the park.

Iso of Art House

The location of several educational centres around the territory leads to the designing of Student House that takes its place next to the Art Passage and in front of a park. It is worth mentioning that the park is one of the most important parts of the project. Relying on the historical plan of Moscow there was park in this area which was appreciated by citizens. However, over time, the park was covered with sand and sport facilities were set up on the site. So the main purpose is to reestablish green area and even to connect it with a green bridge with a park located across the river Yauza. 35

Art Cluster

The pedestrian boulevard leads to the residential complex for artists, designers and architects. The main feature of the house is that on the 7th and 8th floor the complex is penetrated by public space, which has an atrium system that provides a multi-illuminated space inside creating spacious workshop studios. Some small studio - apartments are located on the public floor. Residential complex is a significant part of the project that makes the art district solid and multifunctional. The complex is creative community oriented. However different social groups where taken into consideration. Small studios will be rent for a short period of time by young people, while big apartments will become a permanent home for families.
