Brief/Session/Document Title Brief 1: Typeface Revival Brief Design a typeface based on a piece of sourced vintage typography using font editing software and explore in a suitable context.
Background / Considerations I found a pair of extremely ancient gloves at my grandparents house branded with the word ‘Panda’ in a typeface that I absolutely love. I searched the internet for evidence of it as a brand or a typeface and have found nothing. I felt this was such a shame and decided I want to revive this fantastic typeface and use this as an opportunity to experiment with some font editing software.
Mandatory Requirements All designs should be supported by a broad range of visual investigation in the form of design sheets and notebooks. Typeface must be designed using font editing software.
Deliverables Full typeface including numbers and glyphs, explored in a context of some kind.

Brief/Session/Document Title Brief 2 : Positive Posters Brief Design a series of 3 A2 image/illustrated type driven posters that highlights or exposes and issue specific to my own country, someone else’s or one that is international. It could be social, environmental or political; anything that I believe deserves a global audience and could be better seen or understood.
Background / Considerations Design should aim to inspire minds, change attitudes and spark revolutions. This is an opportunity for me to make a positive contribution towards an issue by presenting it to a global audience. Think about this visually - consider what the visual essence of the subject matter is and how best to communicate this. What are the obvious responses? How can you move beyond these? Will the quote exist in the environment, on someone’s hand or a wall? Is it handcrafted or digital? Is colour important? Will you work with just one typeface or will you use a range? Do typefaces have to be hybrid?
Mandatory Requirements All designs should be supported by a broad range of visual investigation in the form of design sheets and notebooks. Any 3d work must be recorded in a 2 dimensional form for submission.
Deliverables Three visually resolved designs submitted on A2 (but potentially investigated into other possible contexts.)

Brief/Session/Document Title Brief 3: Interior Designers Branding Brief Design the branding and identity for an interior designer.
Background / Considerations I have a vested interest in interior design, and would like the opportunity to design an identity for a company of this nature. This brief will give me the opportunity to produce a piece of portfolio work that will exhibit the skills I need to show I have when it comes to branding. This is about creating an identity for a company. What information is necessary in terms of content? Is an online presence more important than a printed piece of material such as a catalogue? What design aesthetic will suit the style of the artist? Consider range of possible design elements e.g. carpet samples, fabric swatches, stationary, publication, business cards, bags, brand identity pack etc.
Mandatory Requirements All designs should be supported by a broad range of visual investigation in the form of design sheets , blog and notebooks. All products should be presented and photographed professionally.
Deliverables Website, logo/identity for the company, stationary, packaging /stickers etc for work, printed catalogue of work.

Brief/Session/Document Title Brief 4 : Make art not waste Brief Design a typeface out of scrap/waste material to use as a starting point for an art driven recycling campaign.
Background / Considerations The objective is to recycle waste materials to form new artwork and use this to promote social innovation for a better world and the protection of the environment. This is also an opportunity for me to work with 3d type which is one of my ambitions for this year. Think about this visually - consider how I can make best use of whatever scrap material I can source. Would basing the new typeface on an existing one help to ensure good readability/legibility? . What are the obvious responses? How can you move beyond these? Where will this typeface exist? How could you use it in order to communicate the environmental message? There are no media restrictions. I can work photographically, across three dimensions, collage, and incorporate print making methods or combine all of these processes. However the 3d work must be recorded in a 2 dimensional form for submission.
Mandatory Requirements All designs should be supported by a broad range of visual investigation in the form of design sheets , blog s and notebooks. All products should be presented and photographed professionally.
Deliverables A typeface applied to an environmental campaign.
