As the Amathus celebrates 45 years of operation, we highlight some of the milestones of this leading hotel that has welcomed celebrities from Johnny Logan to Vanessa Mae, and dignitaries from ministers to heads of state.
At the official ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the Amathus Beach Hotel are (first line from right to left) Most Reverend Anthimos, Metropolitan of Kition, H.E. the Minister of Commerce & Industry Mr. Andreas Loizides, and Limassol Mayor Mr. Photakis Kolakkides. IN WHAT WAS CONSIDERED AT THE TIME TO BE AREMOTE LOCATION NEAR THE SITE OF THE AN-CIENT CITY KINGDOM OF AMATHUS OVERLOOK-ING THE SEA, THE FOUNDATIONS WERE LAID FORTHE AMATHUS HOTEL. ITS CHARACTERISTICLINES WERE DRAWN BY PETER MORTON AND THEAMERICAN ARCHITECTS COLLABORATIVE (TAC), WITH RESPECTFOR THE AREA’S ARCHAEOLOGICAL WEALTH, INCLUDING THE WELLPRESERVED ANCIENT TOMB ON TODAY’S PREMISES.
