PRESTIGIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD

International accreditation for impressive green credentials

Limassol Marina has become one of the first marinas in Europe to receive the ‘Clean Marina’ accreditation from The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA), designed to provide trusted certification of a marina’s green credentials. The endorsement acknowledges the considerable effort and investment that go into implementing and promoting environmental sustainability and responsibility for best practices across all operations. With the slogan “Going Green Together”, Limassol Marina is committed to raising awareness and education, through clean-ups, events and conferences, best-practice campaigns, and access to schemes such as the ‘Blue Flag Award’.

Additional activities and measures to safeguard the seas and waterways and reduce the environmental footprint include the use of sustainable products to prevent plastic pollution; effective blackwater capture and treatment; appropriate waste management; proper spill prevention and treatment; and correct washdown capture and filtration.

Proud of its achievements, Limassol Marina continues to innovate to protect the environment for generations to come.

A resounding success

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

In recognition of ongoing environmental management

Limassol Marina has been awarded the ‘Blue Flag Marina’ status for the sixth consecutive year in recognition of an ongoing commitment to environmental best practices, awareness and protection.

The first marina in Cyprus to attain this world-renowned accolade, the achievement distinguishes high standards of environmental management employed throughout the facility and its operational procedures. It also honours efforts to promote environmental responsibility among visitors, residents and boat-owners through the ‘Going Green Together’ initiative, which represents all environmental practices and activities across the Marina.

Blue Flag regulations will continue to be communicated to ensure activities adhere to the guidelines for clean waters and a safe environment for marine life. Meanwhile, the ‘Blue Flag for Boat Owners’ scheme is available to all resident or visiting boats via the Marina Reception.

A NEW CULINARY EXPERIENCE

There has been a transformation at Limassol Marina, as PNS Restaurants has proudly unveiled the newly-revamped Gazebo Mare restaurant. A stylish and laid-back venue with a relaxed and hip beach-side vibe, the new design features a chic minimal interior space, plush outdoor al fresco terrace, and luxurious beachside gazebo seating.

INNOVATIVE DIGITAL UPGRADE

As part of an ongoing investment in providing world-class facilities and services, Limassol Marina recently upgraded its digital offering with improved free Wi-Fi service across the development, as well as a new mobile app for berth-holders and visitors.

Using latest technology to provide lightning-fast speeds and wider coverage throughout the Marina, the Wi-Fi service offers free and premium connection options. The app offers berth-holders an innovative new tool to manage services, interact with the Marina and access useful, live realtime information about their yacht.

In line with the Marina’s commitment to cutting-edge innovation, the iOS and Android-compatible app already has further services in development for future release. So, whether at the commercial promenades or aboard a private boat, Marina users have access to the latest technology and a world-class service.

SAFETY AT SEA

Marina ambassadors for the CYMEPA scheme

All members of the Marina's operations team, as well as the crew of M/Y Esmeralda, based at Limassol Marina, recently became ‘Safety at Sea’ ambassadors, in partnership with the Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association (CYMEPA). The title recognises a commitment to operating safely and boosting awareness around safety principles to follow. The partnership was celebrated at a ceremony aboard M/Y Esmeralda in April, where CYMEPA’s Secretary General, Michael Ierides, delivered certificates and expressed his sincere thanks for the recipients' important and valuable contribution.

REDEFINED EXPERIENCE

New Trailer Boat Park facility further enhances Marina's services

Working to continuously enhance the yachting experience, Limassol Marina has launched a new, hassle-free Trailer Boat Park experience. Available for vessels of up to 10m, the facility and service offers covered or uncovered boat storage ashore, just a few metres from the Marina’s private slipway.

Bookable ahead of time, with boats ready at the agreed time, the service takes care of launch and recovery. On return, closed-down boats can be left for the Marina team to take out of the water on the owner’s trailer, given a freshwater rinse, then returned to fully-secure storage.

The first 10 services are free of charge, with the Marina’s private slipway for self-launch and recovery also available for package holders. Free overnight stays are included, subject to berth availability.

CHILDREN’S CHARITY EVENT

A successful charity gala dinner organised by the Yianis Christodoulou Foundation, was hosted at Limassol Marina to raise funds for children attending the nine special needs public schools across Cyprus.

Taking place on board the ‘Zeus’ yacht, the event was attended by a host of distinguished guests and international sports and culture personalities, such as celebrated photographer and entrepreneur Marina Vernicos, race car champion David Coulthard, Christian Moore, son of renowned actor Roger Moore, and beloved Cypriot singer, Anna Vissi.

The itinerary included presentations, speeches, an exclusive auction and a much-anticipated concert by Vissi. The total amount raised during the dinner reached €300,000.

Sanlorenzo Cyprus participated in the Limassol Boat Show for the first time in October 2022. The exclusive representative of Sanlorenzo Yachts on the island dealer presented two distinctive models from its yacht fleet, namely the asymmetrical SL102A and the semi-displacement navetta SD96.

The SL102A was the first-ever asymmetrical motor yacht from the Sanlorenzo shipyard, as well as the nautical industry as a whole. The result of a successful collaboration between car designer Chris Bangle and Bernardo Zuccon – who designed the exterior lines - the SL102A reimagines the canonical yacht layout to allow greater usability of the interior spaces and a better connection with the exterior. Meanwhile, the SD96 is the first model in the revamped semi-displacement line. Built across three decks, yet with the lightweight elegance of a two-deck yacht, the SD96 is characterised by carefully-studied proportions, a balanced design and flexible interiors that evolve and adapt to the needs of its inhabitants.

STEP BACK IN TIME

Limassol Marina hosted the legendary frigate ‘Shtandart’ last year, inviting guests onboard in order to step 300 years back in time and participate in two days of thrilling activities, such as steering or sailing the ship and climbing the rig.

The historic vessel is an exact replica of the 1703 warship used by Peter the Great to defend St. Petersburg. Hand-built in 1999 by the crew behind the Pirates of the Caribbean’s ‘Black Pearl’, she has been sailing ever since, operating as a living museum and a sail-training vessel, and featuring in over 20 movies. The replica vessel is a pillar of 'Project Shtandart', whose aim is to develop the skills and selfreliance of youth.

Marina welcomes new culinary outlet GOING GREEN TOGETHER

Limassol Marina hosted another successful two-day Going Green Together event in September 2022, to contribute to a cleaner environment and provide education around the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

The event included a series of interactive, family-friendly activities, games, workshops and a live-art installation. In addition, a ‘Clean the sea with your SUP’ activity saw participants clean litter from the surface of the water, while the Marina’s diving team picked up rubbish from the seabed.

SUP clean-up experiences are now held throughout the year, in keeping with the Marina’s wider objective to reduce its environmental footprint and boost ocean conservation. Relaunched since June 2022, this much-loved activity helps to create a healthier ecosystem and cleaner seas for marine life.
