EDITOR’S NOTE Working on this second issue of our magazine has provided me with a rare opportunity to pause and reflect on the past year. All things considered, when I recall the winds of uncertainty prevailing across Cyprus as we drifted into 2014, the impact Limassol Marina has managed to have on our town, the local community, the property market, our position on the yachting map and our island’s image abroad in just

one year has been staggering. There are days when it’s easy to neglect gazing out of the office window at the crew polishing the immaculate superyachts, the sea gulls circling the villas, residents basking in the sunshine by their pool and visitors jogging along the promenade. It is a reality we could have only dreamed of when we published our first issue - I am so proud the story has a sequel! Our first villas have been delivered to their owners; our permanent yachts are increasing in numbers; superyachts are returning on their second visit; our spa and fitness club has established its own thriving community; our dining and shopping area is continuing to evolve with exciting new additions and our cultural centre is fully integrated in the annual calendar of local events. This issue of our magazine is a window to the operational development and its unique offering, an invitation to engage in our community, to experience a day in the life of Limassol Marina and witness ‘living on the sea’ at first hand. I hope you enjoy it. Coming this far is a testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved in the project, to the heart-warming response of all our residents and visitors. Thank you for your support, for sharing this incredible journey with us and welcome ON BOARD!

REFLECTIONS Over a year since the official opening of the most ambitious project in Cyprus
Christmas on the sea Limassol Marina celebrated its first Christmas on the sea with a calendar of events for all visitors and residents to enjoy. In support of Funraising Charity Foundation, an open invitation to light up the Christmas tree provided live entertainment in the Limassol Marina Square with Batukinio’s percussion group, West End performer Riana Athanasiou, Diastasi Children’s Choir and the Limassol Philharmonic Orchestra. This was followed by a Santa’s Workshop and daily events in the main Square, at ΤΡΑΚΑΣΟΛ Cultural Centre and in a number of the restaurants situated along the public promenade. C

Carnival madness The official opening of Limassol Marina, took place on the 19th of June 2014 in an impressive setting and in the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nicos Anastasiades. During the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Limassol Marina Ltd, Mr Marios E. Lanitis, stated the following: “Limassol Marina is an incredibly unique development, one that is significantly boosting the competitiveness of the Cypriot economy, further improving its image, creating new job opportunities, upgrading the area of the historic centre of Limassol and offering an incentive for investments in the wider region. Limassol has now obtained a Marina of high standards, which compares very favourably with other marinas abroad, while being a point of reference for the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.” Shortly thereafter, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, expressed his admiration for the outstanding project of multidimensional importance for our country and congratulated the shareholders of the owning company for their “vision, love for the project, as well as commitment, hard work, patience and perseverance”, virtues he described as the recipe for success for all progressive businesses in Cyprus.
It couldn’t possibly be called ‘Limassol’ Marina if it failed to embrace the city’s biggest celebration of the year! Carnival on the sea expanded across the entire development for a fortnight in February, complete with decorations, costume balls, traditional serenades in the Square, parties at ΤΡΑΚΑΣΟΛ Cultural Centre and Venetian masquerades by Maserati at Crystal Restaurant Lounge Bar. Carnival has been celebrated in Limassol for more than a hundred years. Headed by the King of Carnival, it features street parades, serenades and parties throughout the city centre. This year, a Carnival photo exhibition at Limassol Marina’s Cultural Centre also paid homage to its vast history, followed by a party for the past Kings and Queens.
ΤΡΑΚΑΣΟΛ Cultural Centre The development’s beautiful listed building is of major significance to the area and to the local community. Now a multi-purpose venue, it used to be the warehouse of Tragasol Ltd, a British company founded in the early 1900s which was involved in the trade of carobs. In just under a year of operation, the Cultural Centre has been firmly integrated in Limassol’s annual calendar of events. From art and boat exhibitions, concerts, markets, parties, wine tastings, fashion shows and award ceremonies, to the recent series of events under the umbrella ‘Russian Cultural Days’, it promises to continue informing, educating and entertaining residents of Limassol Marina, and the island as a whole.

Journey of Hope A global humanitarian expedition
In a short visit to Limassol Marina, The Ambassador of Kuwait met with the captain and crew of ‘Journey of Hope’ which passed through the waterfront development during a global humanitarian expedition to raise awareness and support for the intellectually disabled. Under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, ‘Journey of Hope’ set out on a mission to cover 26,000km, 39 ports and 19 countries in 7 months. With the sole purpose of spreading a message of hope, the team behind the expedition aims to unify people of all cultures and religions in a collective effort to care for the intellectually disabled, to draw on the importance of social responsibility, to educate the masses and to eliminate cases of home isolation. Their journey illustrates the positive impact and cultural value of all support, whether this comes in the form of Government agencies, private organisations or voluntary entities. Cyprus was one of many stops on the way back to Kuwait from Washington.
Ioannideia Race Annual regatta
This and every September, the Famagusta Nautical Club (NOA) and Limassol Marina pay tribute to Navy Commander, Commodore Andreas Ioannides, with a sailing regatta established in his memory. The annual event was named after the Commander, who was also the Vice-President of the Famagusta Nautical Club. With the participation of an average of 30 sailing yachts from all over Cyprus and beyond, the race takes place along the Limassol coastline and includes an award ceremony at the Nautical Club. During the course of the weekend, offshore sailing regattas, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, rowing and SUP races are also arranged for the involvement of the entire community. Limassol Marina is a partner on this initiative every year, providing berths, facilities and operational assistance to all participants.

Monaco Yacht Show 2014 Standing by with Camper & Nicholsons
Boat Yachtsman International of the Year Media awards
©Carlo Borlenghi
Limassol Marina participated in the Monaco Yacht Show in September for the fourth consecutive year, alongside Camper & Nicholsons International and Marinas. Created in 1991, the show has grown to become the ultimate luxury rendezvous for the international elite clientele. With an average attendance of 34,000 professional visitors, business decision makers and high net worth clients from worldwide, the Limassol Marina team shared news of the waterfront development with all contacts and press. This latest show at Monaco’s Port Hercules was the largest and most prestigious to date, with an expanded exhibition area and berthing for around 110 superyachts. The timely inauguration of the Yacht Club de Monaco’s new building also provided a new platform for the social calendar of activities. Designed by Lord Norman Foster, the YCM’s new flagship is a stunning showcase, symbolising Monaco in the third millennium and looking ahead to the future. “When designing this building which is open to the sea, at the centre of the harbour and embracing the city, we wanted to preserve the traditional spirit so dear to the Principality,” said Lord Foster, adding that if this building was a real liner he would call her ‘Free Spirit’.
Throughout the development of Limassol Marina, certain key networks were pivotal to its successful promotion. Five years of sales, two Superyacht Rendezvous, three book launches, four Monaco parties and one re-brand later, Limassol Marina’s Marketing & PR Manager is grateful to have the expertise of Boat International Media’s Account Manager, Nick Dawes, by her side. “There are standards and platforms you simply can’t ignore when you want to be taken seriously in this industry. Even in a digital environment, some traditional media is integral to the status of your brand. And networks become friendships…these are more important than ever!” Boat International Media is one of the most highly reputable media groups serving the superyacht industry. The company publishes newsstand magazines and luxury books, as well as offers high quality events, and digital media services to owners and professionals in the superyacht industry.

Alongside Gazprom, RUS Yachting, Jaguar, Land Rover and Forbes, Limassol Marina was a sponsor of the event and participated in the presentation of the award for “The best long-distance sporting sailing trip”, announced by Antonis Sammoutis, Deputy Ambassador of Cyprus, and Victoria Goptar, Key Customers Relations Manager at the Moscow sales office of Cybarco - one of the Shareholder companies of Limassol Marina, also responsible for the exclusive sales of its properties.

Popular with the local community, it is the next in a string of successful and award-winning restaurants by the company.
The bright sunny days of a St Tropez summer in the 70’s were the inspiration behind the first design of Fred Prysquel’s swim shorts on the corner of a tablecloth. Drawing in from a lifestyle full of colour and vitality, the design and originality of Vilebrequin became an instant success. And a brand was born! The cool and the chic, the relaxed vacationer and the fashionista have all worn the Vilebrequin shorts on the beaches of St Tropez ever since. And the epidemic has reached Limassol Marina. Invito stocks a range of the Vilebrequin swimwear along with Havaianas, Les Copains, Ritratti, Christies and Noary.

A member of Ghanbarinia group of companies, Shiraz presents its exquisite patterns stemming from craftsmen revealing the spiritual processes of the world in their symbolism to convey the events of history in a secret language by embodying the beauty of nature and wisdom of the East. Passing on their skills from generation to generation, these great artists preserve their traditions and art and transform their gift in the form of unique and extra ordinary hand-made Persian carpets exhibited by Shiraz Company.

AT HOME ON THE SEA
With property sales in excess of â‚Ź170 million, and 90% of apartments now sold, these new homes on the sea at Limassol Marina are attracting a lot of attention.
Living
They are the only homes of their kind in the Med and the only ones built quite literally on the sea in Cyprus.
‘What is your ideal place for a home?’ is always one of the first questions on the lifestyle survey. On the sea or in the mountains? In the city or in nature? If you are lucky enough to own a home at Limassol Marina, you don’t have to choose between beach and mountains, city or nature. You can have it all. You didn’t know Limassol Marina is in the mountains? It isn’t. It is smack-dab on the sea and ringed by beaches galore. But the lovely Troodos range, boasting some of the most beautiful alpine scenery in Europe, is only a stress-reducing 40-minute drive away.
Nature Or Urban Centre?
Stand on one of your villa’s sundecks and gaze in wonder at the sunrise or sunset over the Mediterranean, contemplate the individual radiance of the flowers in your private garden, and you are completely immersed in nature. Now step out of your front door and walk for three minutes to the seaside periphery of the buzzing new destination in the prettiest, most cosmopolitan city in Cyprus. Here, literally on your doorstep, you can stop for a demitasse of espresso or a glass of fine wine, a succulent steak or a slice of pizza, an assortment of sushi, a plate of calamari or souvlaki; you can shop for designer sunglasses
or boat shoes, an Armani jacket, a pair of Vilebrequin swimming trunks, a Breitling pilot’s watch, some Graff diamonds or a Ralph Lauren bag; you can pick up some groceries, order a yacht, stock up from the chandlery, book a massage at the luxury spa or a private workout in the high-tech gym, all before you reach the meandering cobblestone streets and alleys of the Old Town, the energetically pulsing heart of Limassol. Another two-minute walk will bring you to the front door of a medieval castle, the very one where Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria of Navarre and crowned her queen. All around you, in the cafés, tavernas, wine bars, restaurants and gift shops that decorate the central plaza, friendly locals, busking musicians and visitors from the four corners of the globe are going about the serious business of leisure. As you wander the centuries-old streets, the architectural style of the buildings will already seem familiar. That’s because it was studied in detail by world-renowned architect, Xavier Bohl, who incorporated some of its more salient elements into the design of your own villa at Limassol Marina.
The Villa Package
‘What more could you ask for, you say?’ How about a private berth for your yacht at your villa’s

back door, your very own water space for your jet ski and watersports, or the soft, luminous sands of a Mediterranean beach just behind your garden? Fancy a personal swimming pool and attached driveway for your car? Do you require a guarantee of peace and quiet from the noise and hustle of the city, plus round-the-clock professional security and concierge services in a gated community? At Limassol Marina you don’t have to ask, it’s all part of the villa package. We were recently chaperoned around the development by George Englezos, the Sales Manager of Limassol Marina’s residential properties. After an extensive and impressive buggy tour that took us along the well-fortified breakwater and past the sleekest, most beautiful yachts imaginable, we stopped to view one of the just-completed Peninsula Villas.
Not By The Sea—On The Sea
As he ushered us past the front door, he talked us through the unique aspects of these homes, each word justified with ease by the surroundings. “These villas are incredibly rare in their location and design. They’re also limited in number. They are the only homes of their kind in the Med and the only ones built quite literally on the sea in Cyprus. Each one that sells takes a piece of his-
tory with it. This really does make them a sound investment. For anyone wanting to own a first or second home in Limassol, by the sea, and just a stroll away from the city centre, this is as good as it gets. We swap the ‘by the sea’ with the ‘on the sea’ and give residents truly unrivalled access to the one asset we have that is constant and always desirable.” Much like the apartments at Limassol Marina, he is confident that interest in the villas will continue to increase now that the product is available to view and ready to move into.
The Guided Tour
Despite being warned about the artistry of the architectural design, the quality of the interiors and the view from the sundecks and verandas, once inside the villa the wow factor took over as we drifted through each room. The floors were Italian marble, ceramic tile or solid wood. The innovatively appointed, fully-loaded kitchen made us think about the joys of cooking in such a stylish setting. The cozy, amply-closeted bedrooms (each with en-suite bath), the smart-phone-controlled subfloor heating and air conditioning were equally and elegantly impressive. And just when we thought the viewing was over, we were escorted to lower ground level to discover an additional floor, a revelation in intelligent design. Besides the very spacious central room—perfect for a family
Living
den, billiard-tabled man-cave or children’s play area—there was a separate kitchen, a complete en-suite bedroom and a utilities room. Out on the wrap-around upper sundeck, gazing back toward land, we noted that the marina did not appear to be a secondary add-on to the city. On the contrary, it seemed a natural extension of it, as though it had been there since the city’s founding. “That was by design,” Xavier Bohl has stated in the past. “It was very important that the marina be fully integrated as an organic part of the city.” Suffice it to say that the expansive views in every direction from the sundeck are smile-inducing and make one yearn for a deckchair and a glass of whiskey on the rocks.
tracting both strong residential sales and a growing number of discerning yacht owners.”
Last Call
‘Is there a downside?’ you might ask. Yes, there is. There are only so many villas available (at press time, more than 40% are spoken for), and once they are sold, no more will be made available. The “masterplan” marina development cannot be expanded or added to in any way. What you see on the masterplan is what you get. So if you want the luxury and convenience of being in Limassol and on the sea, this is literally your only chance. A one-off, this is not a destination you could replicate with ease given the numerous factors contributing to its individuality. Sean Purdy, Marketing Director of internationally-renowned Camper & Nicholsons Marinas, reiterates: “Limassol Marina is the only new masterplan development in the Mediterranean that provides marina berths directly in front of private villas and a stone’s throw away from the heart of a thriving historic city. It is a rare offering and we are delighted to see it at-
The only new masterplan development in the Mediterranean that provides marina berths directly in front of private villas. The Bottom Line
The villas at Limassol Marina successfully combine all the best qualities of country and city living with the aesthetic pleasures and practical applications of an easy-to-access harbour. They also
represent a rare investment opportunity in that the villas and/or berths, with the able assistance of Limassol Marina Ltd, can be rented out when not in use by the owner. Limassol Marina is the most ambitious land/sea project attempted—and successfully completed—in the Mediterranean in many years. It is also the only marina in the region capable of berthing superyachts over 24 metres long and one of the few official ports of entry to Cyprus with the same customs, visa and passport control facilities as an international airport. There are 650 berths for yachts up to 110m and 236 residences, of which just 74 are villas. Combined with the beach, the dining, shopping, leisure and cultural facilities, it’s a place you couldn’t tire of coming home to. The vessel’s bold profile and assertive styling are clearly a homage to the voluminous form of the huge 40M, and the 35M promises equally impressive accommodation, with a raised pilothouse design to ensure a clean sweep along the main deck, a forward master stateroom with a full-beam bathroom, and either three or four guest suites below – including the option of a magnificent full-beam VIP amidships. Two of the guest cabins can be fitted out as either doubles or twins, to provide plenty of versatility for gatherings of family or friends. Three
Exterior accommodation is also best in class: a fulllength flybridge with a selection of seating plans shelters an expansive aft cockpit, while the foredeck is fitted with a generous and customisable relaxation area which includes sofas, sunbeds and tables. Down in the stern, meanwhile, the tender garage can accommodate a 5.5m RIB as well as a personal watercraft. Like all M Class superyachts, the 35M’s interior is designed by the Princess Design Studio in conjunction with the owner’s team, and a comprehensive array of finishes is available, including satin and gloss cherry, walnut or oak, marble or granite surfaces, and a myriad fabric and upholstery choices - including many from the famous LVMH interior design houses.
One of the most distinctive, stylish and bestequipped motor yachts in the world, the long-awaited Princess 35M is guaranteed a rapturous reception when she makes her debut in 2015.

A comprehensive standard inventory will also help to lift this superyacht head and shoulders above the competition. This includes two 65kW generators and tropical air-conditioning, as well as the hardtop, a hydraulic aft platform and a tender garage. There is a choice of three engine options, from 3,850hp to 5,280hp, giving a projected maximum speed of 27 knots and substantial cruising range.
30M
Princess’s newest M Class project could be the shipyard’s most exciting yet. With its raised pilot house design, numerous layout choices and the option of a folding saloon balcony, the new 30M promises to be one of the most versatile and stylish superyachts in the competitive 100ft sector. Available with up to five guest suites, including a luxurious full-beam master on the main deck, the Princess 30M has also been carefully designed around a sub-24m loadline length, which enables owners to avoid the class regulations and additional costs associated with registering and running a conventional yacht of this size.
Two different seating plans are available on the full-length flybridge, which can also accommodate a spa bath. Down below there is a choice of either three or four en-suite guest cabins on the lower deck, including a magnificent, full-beam VIP suite, while two of the cabins are offered with sliding berths for quick conversion between double and twin configurations. The main-deck master stateroom occupies the prime position forward, while an eight-seat circular dining table is served by a large and professionally equipped galley amidships. A spacious, open-plan deck saloon communicates directly with a versatile cockpit, while the optional balcony on the starboard side completes the picture, to make this perhaps the most alluring main deck in its class. The 30M can also boast a tender garage big enough for a 4.5-metre RIB, plus space on the bathing platform for a personal watercraft. There is forward crew accommodation for four, plus the option of an additional crew cabin aft.

Live the GOOD LIFE
La Dolce Vita – the sweet life of pleasure and luxury has gained a new dimension as today’s urban society desires and demands more… and Limegrove Spa & Fitness at Limassol Marina was created to provide it.
OnBoard | 25
“When it comes to wellness, it’s not just about what you do, but also where you do it.”
T
here was a time when ‘work hard, play hard’ was the motto. But times have changed. A short burst of life’s sweetness is no longer enough to balance the hectic pace of urban living, the stresses of the business world, and the pressures of a competitive environment. Instead, there is an increasing demand for an upgrade of ‘the sweet life’ to a truly good life – one that features health, harmony and ultimately happiness. The way to achieve that is to put body and mind in sync; and that is the proposition of Limegrove Spa & Fitness at Limassol Marina, which is based on a wellness concept that works both outwards and inwards, with a lasting effect. Located on the borderline between land and sea, and combining a full-scale spa, a fitness club, hair & beauty salon, and a health bar, Limegrove takes a holistic view of wellness, in the context of our contemporary urban lifestyle. This approach is translated into practice with visible results, thanks to Limegrove’s principles and people.
The Starting Point
George Tavelis, Limegrove’s CEO, pinpoints the first key principle: location matters. What was once the main marker in the property market is now equally important in the wellness industry. George says: “It is now widely recognised that when it comes to wellness, it’s not just about what you do, but also where you do it.” In other words, your surroundings, what you see and what you hear are all factors that determine how much – or how little – you will benefit from any wellness treatment or fitness plan. Think about it: a treadmill in a basement is… a treadmill in a basement. By contrast, exercising your body while resting your eyes on the Mediterranean Sea will deliver multi-dimensional benefits. Andreas, one of Limegrove’s fitness instructors, confirms the energising effect of Limegrove’s location on staff and guests alike: “It’s one thing to look out and see city traffic or rooftops, and it’s a very different thing to work – or work out – overlooking the sea.”
Décor, sound and lighting are aligned with the tenets of the spa’s signature concept: LI’TYA.
The ‘No-Formula’ Formula
Limegrove’s spa on the upper floor takes a more nuanced approach, yet with the same emphasis on environment. The treatment rooms minimise the distractions of the outside world and replace them with the calming effects of décor, sound and lighting that are aligned with tenets of the spa’s signature concept: LI’TYA. Sourced from Australia and meaning ‘of the Earth’, LI’TYA’s philosophy, spa products and treatment techniques are based on Aboriginal plant and health wisdom that has endured for over 40,000 years. Natural, organic and nutrient-rich products are certainly among LI’TYA product specifications. But the most powerful feature is the personalisation of treatments – both in terms of the products that are used, and the rapport between spa therapist and client. As one client said: “LI’TYA treatments and therapists take you on an inner journey. They touch your soul; they speak to it; and the message produces an outward echo. You leave the spa with a renewed spirit.” Or, the spa can come to you. Three of the most popular LI’TYA ‘Massage Journeys’ can be
provided by Limegrove therapists in the comfort of your home at Limassol Marina, or on board your yacht. All you have to do is ask… For those who prefer a more alternative approach, ayurvedic treatments are also on offer. Spa Therapist Soubhi will explain the main benefits of each treatment: “Some focus on cleansing and detoxing; others are recommended for pain relief or to restore the body’s healthy state of equilibrium.”
The Bigger Picture
By definition, a holistic approach to wellness addresses the body and the mind – which is why Limegrove’s spa and fitness facilities complement each other so well. In fact, it’s hard to describe the renewal that can be achieved from a workout in the gym or a fitness class followed by a spa massage or treatment. Important as such overall wellness is, it would be unrealistic to ignore the practical side of everyday life. That’s why Limegrove has also incorporated not just the necessary showers, but also a full-service hair and beauty salon that makes it easy for
you to leave Limegrove dressed, groomed and ready for the rest of the day or evening. For the ladies, getting hair and nails right before leaving the spa or gym is self-evident; but there is a special bonus for the gentlemen as well. Hair Stylist Theodotos says: “We are the only salon that offers luxury barber services – the Express Shave and the Deluxe Shave. Every client who has tried these services once comes back for more. They notice how their face changes; they look fresher and more relaxed. They love it; and I love to see how pleased they are.”
The Limegrove Community
Although personal and focused attention on the individual is at the heart of the Limegrove services, the Limegrove experience is not a lonely one. Apart from group exercise classes from BodyPump to yoga, everyone is invited to participate in Saturday morning activities that are designed to build health and fitness into the local community’s social life. Marketing Manager Charis Marangou explains: “Our activities are not random ideas. They provide powerful and, at the, same
OnBoard | 27
It’s hard to describe the renewal that can be achieved from a workout in the gym or a fitness class followed by a spa massage or treatment.
time fun motivation. With the support of a group, an individual is more likely to adopt healthy habits; to set goals and achieve them; to truly live better and enjoy life.” Recent activities such as the yoga marathon, fitness boot camp and outdoor circuit energiser training are attracting an increasing number of participants. So it’s worth keeping any eye on Limegrove’s calendar (on the website) and join in the next activity. The community feeling, however, is not reserved for scheduled events. Limegrove’s pool terrace is another case in point. On the one hand, this is where the Health Bar serves nutritious snacks and drinks to complement your spa or fitness session. On the other hand, it’s where members, guests and friends meet for a coffee break with a view, or a glass of fine wine under the stars.
The Human Factor
All these principles – inspiring location, individualised services, a holistic approach to wellness, and the importance of building a health-oriented
community – are only as good as the people who implement them: the Limegrove team. George explains: “Since we first opened in August 2014, we’ve grown into a coherent team. Actually, we’re more like a family running a family business. All our team members take ownership of their work – and that feels good. And when we feel good, our clients feel the same.” If you were a fly on the wall at Limegrove, you would see what this means in practice, day by day. Guests that visit the terrace for a coffee in the morning go up to Health Bar Manager Sabina and greet her with a hug. She says: “Limegrove has given me a new perspective on life. I actually look forward to coming to work. I’ve made friends here, I’ve built relationships.” You will also notice that guests, especially the visiting yacht owners, go to Edite at the reception not just to book their next appointment. One day she might sit with a client and explain all the different kinds of massages, one by one. The next day she will be giving sightseeing tips, directions, or other information about Cyprus. You will find a
client pouring his heart out to Les Mills Instructor and Receptionist Nicos, trusting him like a friend, sharing dreams as well as the challenges of life. This is also a common phenomenon in the hair salon, where Theodotos is such a people person, it’s hard not to feel relaxed and comfortable around him. In one way or another, every member of the Limegrove teams feels responsible for his or her clients – whether in the spa, the fitness club, the hair and beauty salon or at the health bar. After only a few visits, they will be able to ‘read’ you, to recognise when you need an extra dose of motivation, an hour of silent stress relief, or an additional layer of pampering. And they will provide it. They have seen people change for the better, and that’s what keeps them – and Limegrove – going, as they help you look better, feel better and live better. MY LIFE on the sea
“Living on the sea is my whole life. And I can say with all honesty that if you wish to be happy, Limassol Marina is the place to live!” Sergey Sologub, the chairman of the ARS Group and head of its yachting and chartering division, is one of Limassol Marina’s first residents. His lively personality and charming character endear him to anyone he meets and his enthusiasm for the sea and sailing is simply infectious. From the beginning of the project’s development, he has been one of its most effective cheerleaders, while his enthusiasm for Cyprus and Limassol in particular knows no bounds. As a well-travelled, successful businessman and relentless promoter of yachting, he is the quintessential Limassol Marina resident. It was in his native Crimea that Sergey first fell in love with the sea and the enchanting vessels that traverse it. “I started sailing as a seven-year-old at the famous Yacht Club of the Black Sea Fleet in Sebastopol. Then I joined the children’s maritime fleet, and gradually advanced to nautical schools and academies in Russia and the UK. At the moment, I am a specialist lawyer in Maritime Law and I am head of the newly formed Development of Sea Yacht Tourism and Marina Construction Section of the Russian Federation’s Maritime Board. My work in Russia is directly connected to the sea because I am a developer of coastal commercial and residential property and most recently of marine infrastructure. My boyhood dreams of a life centred on the sea have all come true.”
And what happy trade winds guided Sergey towards the island of Cyprus? “Cyprus reminds me of my home: the trees, the landscape in general, as well as the mild climate. But most of all, I like the Cypriot people. The majority I meet here are friendly and welleducated citizens who treat foreigners very well, especially people from my homeland. Russians and Cypriots are longtime friends and you can feel the emotional connection everywhere here, in the people you meet for work, in the banks where you do business, in the restaurants and shops, even in the streets! On a personal level, I am very grateful for this. It is one of the main reasons I have chosen Cyprus.” Sergey also has some very pragmatic reasons for wanting to work and own a home in Cyprus. “Although my company, ARS Group, is here only in a representative capacity, many of my compatriots have chosen to operate in Cyprus not only for the tax benefits but also because it is a more productive environment in which to conduct international business. Cyprus has a respected system of English law as well as a unique location at the crossroads of Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Furthermore, the island has developed advanced banking systems that employ genuine professionals. Even the recent crisis has not damaged the attitude of our business people towards operating and investing in Cyprus.”
Profile
But why live at the Marina? Why not in a similarly luxurious apartment in Nicosia, the capital? Or in an alpine dacha in the Troodos foothills, a mere 40-minute drive from the sea? “Practically speaking, the primary reason for my presence here is the desire to learn further skills in the construction and operation of A-list marinas. It is here, more than anywhere else, that I can gain the proper experience and develop the important contacts I need for my work in Russia.
“ I can truthfully say, through on-site experience, that everything about the marina is first class.”
“Aesthetically speaking, my apartment at Limassol Marina’s Nereids Residences is a place where I can work in peace and quiet, even though I am away from my main place of business. There is a special aura here at the Marina that induces creative work and inspires me in developing new business ideas. Also, it is a comfortable location as regards the permanent mooring of my corporate yacht, ARS Dream, which is itself the perfect mobile office. The Marina has a complete infrastructure for any active business person. There’s an excellent spa and fitness club to relieve stress and maintain health, an abundance of good restaurants just steps away, guaranteed privacy and high-end security systems, plus— and this is very important—reliable on-site boat repair and maintenance facilities. Moreover, it is close to the local office of Princess Yachting, our
partners for the yacht charter. It is no secret that a chartered yacht is not just a luxury item; it is also a type of business that must earn its keep as a floating representative of the corporation. The professionals at Princess Yachting Cyprus know how to best deal with this issue. And this is paramount for us!” There are other marinas in the Mediterranean, even in Cyprus (though they cannot accommodate superyachts), but for Sergey, who has very demanding standards in business and in quality of life, the Limassol Marina is the only intelligent choice. “I have always felt a special closeness with the Limassol Marina team as I have been here almost since the first foundations were laid down. I can truthfully say, through on-site experience, that everything about the marina is first class. I know very well the degree of care and integrity and the amount of hard work that went into this development. As I’ve watched them grow into a fantastic team of professionals, we have become great friends. And then Limassol is a beautiful, easily navigable, safe city whose people have a reputation for enjoying life to the fullest.” Sergey puts the highest value on the opportunity he received to learn from the architects, engineers and builders who constructed the marina from the ground up. “Now I’m studying and learning the intricacies of how a great marina continues to operate on a day-to-day basis and, of course, the very culture of international yachting and the joys of living on the Limassol shore.” With the passion of a true aficionado, Sergey fully embraces every aspect of the Limassol Marina life on his regular, long-term visits. You might see him dining in one of the promenade restaurants or driving to his apartment at Nereids Residences from his newly-delivered Princess yacht, ARS Dream, or wandering with friends along the narrow, picturesque streets of old Limassol. If you spot him around the Marina, send him a smile and a thumbs-up. He is the epitome, both on-and off-shore, of life on the sea.

Dashi Namdakov
The gallery has strong relationships with international museums and art institutions and regularly loans paintings and sculptures owned by the gallery and on behalf of clients. Halcyon Gallery’s current public art programme in London includes Dashi Namdakov’s She Guardian in Marble Arch, Lorenzo Quinn’s Harmony in Park Lane and Goddess of Nature in Hyde Park, London.
Of particular interest is the work of highly acclaimed Russian sculptor, Dashi Namdakov. While reminiscent of the great cultures of the bronze ages and illustrating myths and legends of remote times, Dashi’s art is also born out of contemporary culture and imbued with a background of rigorous academic training. His sculptures reveal extraordinary technical mastery and a distinctly original style which combines traditional spiritual imagery with present day realities and emphasises the mutual influence of the East and the West.
Halcyon Gallery understands the importance of exceptional service. Their highly experienced team are able to offer complete solutions for all your art services requirements. From insurance to installation and framing to restoration. Visitors to the gallery will enjoy works by renowned international artists from Andy Warhol to Marc Chagall, to contemporary artists, Santiago Montoya, Pedro Paricio, Ernesto Canovas and more.
Preferring to work in bronze, “the most visually expressive material” Dashi Namdakov’s works can be found in public collections including: the collections of the State Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the State Museum of Oriental Arts, the Russian Contemporary Art Museum in Moscow, Tibet House in New York City, the Guangzhou Museum of Art in China. Private collections include Roman Abramovich and collectors in the USA, UK and internationally.

Lorenzo is renowned worldwide for his emotive and figurative depictions of the human form and visitors to the gallery will enjoy an oeuvre of work mature in style and demonstrative of Quinn’s visceral empathy and technical accomplishment. Poetry, family and society all feed into the creative process of Lorenzo Quinn’s work and the immediate emotional response his sculptures produce mirror this heart-felt input. Limassol Marina’s picks of the issue

10 Say hello to Ricky
Nautical invitation
With its elegant waterfront location and 270-degree views of the marina, The Yacht Club lavishes you with hospitality, be it bespoke cocktails, world-class wines, fine Italian cuisine, or top DJs working the decks.
C
limb the 20 or so stone steps that lead to the main entrance of The Yacht Club, Limassol Marina’s chic wine bar, lounge and restaurant, and you step into a haven of refinement and romance. One that allows you to drink, dine, dally and sink deep into pure indulgence. With its airy, waterfront location, situated at the heart of the luxurious development, The Yacht Club commands sweeping views to woo everyone’s inner adventurer, while putting guests in the mood for a classy experience, tailored just for them. “Traditionally, yacht clubs operate as a kind of exclusive, members-only establishment, and they cultivate an inner-circle mystique,” says owner Emilio Panayis, a many-time restaurateur and bar-owner, hailing from London. “We wanted to keep the mystique and intimacy, but welcome anyone wanting a special time. Once someone arrives, it’s almost like butler service, connecting with the customer. We work hard to bring together all the details that are meaningful to each individual guest.”
Instant Seduction
Seeking a business lunch in an ambience of taste? Stopping by for a quick (or leisurely) pre-dinner drink? Celebrating an anniversary or birthday over a fine Italian meal? Needing a special space for a corporate function? Hunting for a blend of beats and cocktails during a long summer night? The Yacht Club ticks all the boxes… and goes a step further. In fact, the seduction begins the moment you step inside, and the friendly waiting staff greets you under a canopy of hanging orchids - as if you’d dropped anchor in tropical waters. Potted orange and olive trees add their own Mediterranean twist and the setting is perfect to relax over a drink or two. Here you can sit unhurriedly, enjoying a 270-degree, unrestricted view of the sleek marina below, while sipping a chilled glass of Pinot Grigio or a silky Rioja, and perhaps availing yourself of the special shisha service. And as the aromatic smoke perfumes the air, you can try one of The Yacht Club’s very popular plat-
ters, composed of the finest imported seafood, cured meats, antipasti or local Cypriot delicacies. Alternatively, you can graze on freshly-made ‘bites’, such as delicate salmon croquettes, aubergine-wrapped goat cheese with dried fruits and prosciutto grissini with a forest fruit sauce, as you sample the week’s showcased wine during aperitivo hours – Monday to Friday between 5-8pm.
Cava Star Power
Speaking of wine, The Yacht Club’s cava boasts an eclectic mix of local and imported wines and champagnes, not to mention a full range of spirits and an arsenal of cocktails to appeal to even the most discerning mariner’s taste. “Cypriot wines are holding their own in terms of quality and we’re keen to build good relationships with local wineries, as well as keeping our cava well-stocked with top world selections,” says General Manager Philip Nightingale.
OnBoard | 57
Local favourites include the Vlassides Sauvignon Blanc and Tsiakkas Vamvakasa, while the Valpolicella Superiore and Chablis Long – Depaquit shine among the many Italian and French offerings. Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand), Beringer Sauvignon Blanc (California), Promis Gaja (Italy) and Chateauneuf Du Pape (France) also add their star power to the cava. Venture a little further in and oak floorboards replace the garden area’s flagstones. Tables with vases of fresh lilies, sparkling crystalware and champagne bottles at the ready are flanked by plush seats, taking the ambience from arboreal to intimate, with a colour palette of greys and browns.
Exclusive Quality
To your left, a fireplace with nautical accents and framed yacht images creates a cozy interior during the colder months. To your right, a chic, well-stocked bar beckons you to a drink before a breathtaking panorama of the marina, while the barman fixes a special cocktail to fit your fancy.
As the evening progresses, stay on for a top-quality meal, prepared by The Yacht Club’s young chef, adding his own twist to the establishment’s Italian cuisine. A plethora of hot and cold appetisers, salads, pastas and risottos, meat and fish mains and desserts pack the menu, guests so far having shown a particular weakness for the prime steaks, as well as the dreamy mushroom risotto and gnocchi Sorrentino. Do save a little room for dessert – the extravagant trio crème brulee and Alaska ice cream are deserved hits. But The Yacht Club’s hospitality doesn’t finish there either. Once the clock strikes 10pm, it’s time for guest and resident DJs to work the decks. The ambience melds into lounge mode, and the latest tunes entertain you into the early hours. You might say the secret of The Yacht Club is that it’s actually several places in one, and when you combine the quality of its service with the romance of its location, you cannot help but be transported to somewhere exclusive, every time.
Putting his signature on The Yacht Club’s menu, Cypriot born and internationally awarded chef, Christoforos Peskias, will soon be adding his unique talent to the existing blend of elegance and finesse.
The Yacht Club is situated at Limassol Marina, operating year-round, 7 days a week from 10-2am. An elevator is available for the convenience of disabled guests. Tel: +357 25 051 205 Email: info@limassolyachtclub.com www.limassolyachtclub.com

MAKING A GRAND ENTRANCE They’re super, they’re mega, they are quite literally the epitome of aspiration and the most fascinating vessels of universal appeal. They are a dream for all and a reality for very few, a symbol of luxury, wealth, freedom and adventure. They exude elegance, charm and prowess, they command attention and respect, yet they allude to privacy, mystery and enigma in all their gravitas, grace and splendour. They are the world’s finest superyachts, the most astounding of all ‘toys’ and they are now visiting Limassol Marina. When the first superyacht sailed into Limassol Marina back in 2013, few could believe that this would be the beginning of a new era for Cyprus. M/Y Anastasia made history as the largest vessel to enter a private marina on the island. Peering over the lighthouse, her slick 75m claimed their position along the south-eastern breakwater and changed the dynamic of Limassol’s most ambitious waterfront development forever. The shores of the beautiful Mediterranean city have since been frequented by a string of distinguished guests, all quick to make an impression on the Limassol Marina team, its residents, visitors and the local community. Many of these ‘grand’ arrivals have not only proved to be a great success with the owners, captains and crew, they have also turned into repeat visits, further establishing the new destination in superyacht circles.
With the global superyacht fleet growing in number - it was on the cusp of hitting 5,000 at the end of 2014 - deliveries are on the rise and sizes increasing. Berths are in demand and a lack of space in the traditional locations is forcing superyachts to cruise further afield. Limassol Marina has stepped in to provide an ideal stop-over, conveniently located at the crossroads of three continents, with standards of quality that are redefining the industry in Cyprus as a whole and boosting the island’s image across the waters. Operated and managed by Camper & Nicholsons Marinas, in partnership with Francoudi & Stephanou Marinas, the new safe haven for 650 yachts from 8m to 110m is a blend of local and internationally-renowned excellence in services and facilities. It is also the first superyacht marina in Cyprus.
M/Y CARINTHIA VII
Quick to change history’s records in 2014, was the majestic and awe-inspiring Carinthia VII. At 97.2m, characterised by the simple beauty of her white superstructure and dark blue hull’s elegant lines, she is one of the largest motor yachts in the world. “It was a first for all of us! I am sure you can imagine the air of anticipation as Carinthia appeared on the horizon. The gushing waves and sheer magnitude of her size made us realise what a game changer this marina has really been.” Marina Supervisor Overall length 97.2m Beam 15.95m Gross tonnage 3643 Maximum speed 26kts Builders Fr. Pleasures of the Harbour An atmosphere of luxury and sequestered tranquility makes any rendezvous at this café an experience to remember
A
lthough a great deal of thought and effort have been extended to achieve it, the Café Calma concept is a deceptively simple one. Create an atmosphere of quiet luxury that is devoid of affectation and is affordable to a wide but discriminating demographic. The forward-thinking designers knew that to provide genuine luxury, it was not necessary to mimic the regal old cafés of Rome with their laurelled columns and white marble statues, or imitate the gilded ceiling frescoes and ostentatious furnishings of Vienna’s coffee palaces or, indeed, the café clubs of London with their heavy leather armchairs, nicotine-tainted ancient paintings and aura of arrogant exclusivity.
A Silken Repose
Café Calma’s design and décor reflect the classic ‘less is more’ philosophy: bare wood walls and ceilings, off-white tile floor, all-encompassing canvas umbrellas, earth-toned fabric furniture and here and there small trees that emit fresh oxygen and nature’s own brand of aroma therapy. The overall feeling is one of pristine min-
imalism, an intentional absence of clutter. There is nothing to distract you from the easing of stress and worry from your mind whilst there is everything you might require to reach a plateau of luxuriant quietude. Well away from the noise and disorder of any vehicle traffic, you sit within a safe haven where the only sounds are muted exclamations over the exceptional quality of the food and drink, and the low-decibel selection of cool jazz that never assaults the senses but provides an additional element of genteel sophistication. In front of you, separated by a stretch of promenade, elegant white yachts float recumbent within their individual berths. Well-trained wait staff seat you, take your order and serve you with unobtrusive professionalism. Finally, all is right with the world as you sit back, relax and calmly converse with friends or loved ones over coffee, drinks or a bottle of excellent wine. A few moments later, platters of food or hefty salads arrive and in sharing, comparing
and remarking on the variety of marvelous taste sensations you participate in one of the simplest, most noble social conventions of civilized life.
Quality Food With A Local Touch
Calma is a cosmopolitan establishment with the international feel of the most stylish cafés of the 21st century western world, but it nevertheless retains in every chapter of its menu a touch of Cypriot culture—most notably reflected in its signature dishes. There’s the popular Ouzo Platter with sardines, anchovies, whitebait, grilled octopus, taramasalata, pungent pitted olives, creamy feta, tomatoes and cucumbers best enjoyed with its namesake anise liqueur or chilled local zivania, iced premium vodka or a crisp white wine—the Gerovasiliou from Greece is a sure winner.
Poseidon’s Bounty
One would expect any restaurant at the marina to celebrate the fruits of the sea and Calma succeeds again with the Grilled Seafood Platter, featuring enough nourishment to satisfy the ap-

petite of at least two hungry sailors. The octopus, kalamari, mussels, salmon, seabass and king prawns are all freshly prepared and garnished with vegetables and tangy taramasalata. The Vlassides Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay would fit the bill quite nicely.
Surfing The Turf
For lighter though just as gratifying fare, there are nine different salads, including the sumptuous Avocado Prawn Salad, the luscious Goat’s Cheese Salad and Calma’s signature Chicken Mango, delectably melding chicken fillet, fresh mango, pineapple, rocket lettuce, walnuts and fine Parmesan cheese in an apple dressing. If your tastes gravitate more towards the turf, you’ll be happily sated by the wooden-planked Mixed Grill, a savoury array of steak fillet, chicken and pork souvlaki and grilled vegetables. The menu offers some excellent rich red wines from Cyprus, Greece, France, Italy, Chile and New Zealand to accompany.
A Lighter Touch
Rounding out the menu are nine sandwiches, three types of burgers, various meat, cheese and fruit platters, Cypriot and Mexican dips, five of the most universally popular pasta dishes, steaks from New Zealand or Argentina, pork chops, more seafood dishes, artisanal pastries and ice cream concoctions, crepes, innovative smoothies and pacifying milkshakes. But let’s not forget that this is a café. The coffee itself and the espresso and cappuccino machines are high-end Italian, but there are also several blended coffee drinks that can liven up your life—among them the ultra decadent Cookies & Cream which harmoniously combines espresso, oreo cookies, vanilla syrup and vanilla ice cream.
smoke, try milk instead of water in the base of the hookah). In the evening, with the moon and stars reflecting on the sea, and a sedated interior lighting scheme, there is even more a feeling of safe enclosure, serene repose, intimacy. The very air within Café Calma seems softer. To languor with your sweetheart, friends or business associates amidst the romantic ambience of Limassol Marina, enjoying high quality moderately priced food and drinks without pretension or fussiness, is true luxury.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION Limassol Marina – why Europe’s hottest destination is fast becoming THE place to live, love, eat, play and sail: charming, captivating, irresistible... Surrender gracefully; resistance, as they say, is futile.
Limassol
C
learly whoever coined this article’s title phrase had Cyprus in mind. The island has always been coveted for its location. Strategically positioned at the easternmost point of the Mediterranean, this ‘jewel’ has endured a turbulent legacy. Fortunately the tempests and battles are now history. And the interest and adulation currently focused on Limassol’s renaissance are for altogether more desirable reasons.
As the yachts continue to arrive and new residents take possession of their property, delighted owners continue to live the dream. The Marina offers an indulgent array of residential benefits, including a cultural centre, exclusive designer brand boutiques, a la carte wining and dining, a heavenly spa and fitness club, all within walking distance from the doorstep. Luxury at its loveliest.
The island’s second largest city and thriving coastal port, Limassol, is celebrating the ongoing success of its unique, ground-breaking waterfront development, Limassol Marina. The landmark project features ‘living on the sea’ luxury serviced residences, all of which have been respectfully designed to blend the beauty of the natural environment with the comfort and indulgence of a lavish lifestyle; many offering the additional luxury of a private berth for the owner’s boat or yacht. It is the first modern marina of its kind in Cyprus and promises its community privacy, elegance, comfort and the convenience of a fully-serviced and managed, exceptionally-run facility with security provision guaranteed.
A vibrant, cosmopolitan and welcoming place, this lively town exhibits a sense of spirit and enjoyment quite unique on the island. Then again, it has much to celebrate! A varied calendar of events regularly features international and local concerts and performers, competitions, open-air theatres, exhibitions, beach parties, street fairs, festivals, sports and charity challenges, traditional folk music and dance shows, street art, food and fruit markets and carnivals to rival Rio.
Let Me Entertain You
The island’s only accredited, internationally-recognised marathon races through Limassol every year, on a route carefully designed to allow participants to run by the sea. Can you imagine a more
uplifting setting for such a gruelling challenge? Easter time on the island is unforgettable. Limassol leads the way with its spectacular costumed Carnival processions, masked balls and street parties as week-long celebrations herald the advent of Lent, the most important religious festival in the Orthodox calendar. Meanwhile, the annual Limassol Wine Festival entices visitors from Europe and around the world to ‘eat, drink and be merry’ for 10 days every September. Fortunately the festival’s pagan origins of mythical feasting and merrymaking in honour of Dionysus, god of wine and Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty, have calmed down a little. Now in its sixth decade, the festival is a proud celebration of the island’s legacy as the world’s oldest wine producer of Commandaria, a sweet dessert wine, believed to have originated more than 3,000 years ago. The wine was made famous by the Crusader warriors of the Knights Templar and Knights of St John. Their base or commandery is a short drive from the town centre at Limassol’s Kolossi Castle, which was the wine’s production centre in the 12th and 13th

Cyprus University of Technology, enriched Limassol with the diversity and avant-garde temperament of student life.
And then there is an abundance of entertainment that is not listed on the calendar – simply because it’s happening every day: Limassol’s nightlife. Offering everything from downtown hot spots with live music to swanky beach bars, international DJs and glamorous clubs, it’s no wonder they call Limassol the city that never sleeps!
For a little retail therapy, the island’s largest shopping mall is just a few minutes’ drive from Limassol Marina, which of course enjoys its own stylish range of designer boutiques, convenience stores and shops. Meanwhile, hidden ancient and modern art treasures abound in the old town quarter; it is well worth exploring the local art studios and workshops for that original masterpiece.
A City Of Contrasts
Food, Glorious Food
Limassol was built between two ancient cities, Amathus to the east and Kourion to the west. During Byzantine rule the town became known as Neapolis (new town), with the old town centred around the castle and port, and its suburbs stretching along the coast to Amathus. This rich blend of old and new, ancient and avant-garde offers a fascinating insight into the town’s cultural distillation, a melting pot of religions, civilisations, influences and values. Situated at its core is the town’s majestic centrepiece, Limassol Castle. Richard the Lionheart is said to have married Queen Berengaria of Navarre, here, in 1192. The Castle’s garden and walkways are an extension of the square’s pedestrianised plaza and invite interest and exploration. Byzantine churches and chapels offer sanctuary and quiet contemplation, whilst in sharp contrast, the chic, contemporary al-fresco cafes, bistros, bars and restaurants reflect a town that has absorbed the past and is now firmly rooted in the

The island’s historic diversity has heavily influenced its rich culinary traditions. There is a natural abundance of delicious, healthy produce on the island: fruits, nuts, grapes, olives, cheeses, fish, honey, olive oil, tomatoes, herbs, all of which are an integral part of the celebrated Mediterranean diet. Today, modern Limassol reflects gastronomy of extraordinary choice. Many fine cuisines from around the world are readily available to suit every dining style and taste. Whether you prefer sushi or sashimi, trendy teppanyaki or tapas, the European, Mediterranean, South African and Middle-Eastern influences are here to stay, adding a modern twist to the traditional Cypriot table. Limassolians are passionate about good food and fine wine. For this cosmopolitan society, the act of dining out is an art form, something to be celebrated. Eating, drinking, sharing conversation with friends and family is not to be hurried, which probably explains why the quintessentially Cypriot ‘Meze’ meal offers a fine selection of 12 – 15 different

dishes, to be served and savoured at leisure. Whether you prefer fine-dining a la carte suppers or a refreshingly light alfresco salad by the sea, Limassol caters for all tastes and all palates.
The Best Things In Life Are Free
The sun smiles on Limassol. Its expanse of approximately 27km of natural coastline is breathtaking; its stunning views, shimmering seascapes, endless horizons, dramatic mountain backdrop, are all life-affirming, priceless treasures. The town’s 16km coastal esplanade is perfect for walking, running or cycling by the sea. But there is much to enjoy beneath the sea too. Mild temperatures and calm waters are perfect for all water sports and activities: sailing, skiing, snorkelling and diving. One of the world’s top 10 dive wrecks, the Zenobia, rests in the coastal waters east of Limassol towards Larnaca. Now a protected artificial reef, the site attracts thousands of divers every year. And driving away from the city centre into the Troodos foothills, an altogether calmer picture emerges; the charming rustic villages are welcoming, friendly locals are delighted to share their traditional arts, crafts, delicacies and history. There are many spoils to be discovered: mountainous wine routes are well worth the drive when
you are personally greeted by a celebrated Cypriot wine producer, offering a glass or two of his nectar as a welcome reward for your efforts. Less than 15 minutes drive west of Limassol along the old coastal road to Paphos, a picture of a bygone age greets you. The area is rich with fascinating and historically significant archaeological sites. The 12th-century BC ancient kingdom of Kourion reveals a spectacular Greco-Roman amphitheatre, overlooking stunning Kourion Bay. It is still used today for theatrical and musical performances. On the same historical site, the 4th-century AD House of Eustolios displays beautifully preserved classical mosaics. And barely five minutes away from Kourion, the religious temple of Sanctuary of Apollon Hylates, where Apollo (God of the Woodlands) was worshipped, stands in magnificent relief.
Matches Made In Heaven
Golf lovers will think they are approaching heaven as they drive towards Paphos. The game has become an increasingly attractive and growing sports phenomenon on the island, possibly because the near-perfect climate makes a round of golf such a pleasure. With four 18-hole courses located across the island currently, each within a short distance of each other, and several more planned, the dream to create another

Mediterranean Golf mecca is gaining pace. The individual courses have been uniquely designed by renowned golf architects, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Sir Nick Faldo and Tony Jacklin with Cabell Robinson the latest name to endorse the exciting new golf project, which will be based just minutes from Limassol Marina. The courses are all situated in tranquil surroundings, amid gently sloping hills, offering panoramic sea and landscape views. They are all superbly equipped and offer the latest state-of-the-art golfing facilities. Each course enjoys its own unique character with its own set of challenges and benefits for golfers whether beginners or advanced level players. They also offer tuition facilities with PGA-qualified golf professional teams on hand to help provide the best one-on-one golf practice. And just as importantly, each course has a comfortable, beautifully positioned and very well-stocked Club House where players are welcome after a challenging round of golf.
Because Life Is For Living
Limassol Marina has enhanced not only its immediate locale, but the spirits and mindset of an entire community. Visitors are curious, eager to experience this exciting and extraordinary cityon-water for themselves. This transformative project has raised the bar on many levels, upgrading
the social, residential, cultural and commercial infrastructure, generating a ‘new’ town that is buzzing with energy, creativity and innovation. The ripple effect is palpable. The wider community is feeling the benefit of this unique addition to the town (already enjoying its renaissance thanks to the municipality’s successful regeneration programme of improvements and gentrification). The recent establishment of the town’s first university, The Cyprus University of Technology, which welcomed its first students in 2007, has further added to the ‘feel good factor’ and optimism about town. The ‘can do’ spirit is tangible. Limassol has benefited from years of careful management and investment. The confidence generated through this renaissance continues to be felt, but it’s the emotional impact on the blossoming city that has been truly mesmerising. There is an almost palpable momentum in the city; it is fostered by the spirit of the entrepreneur and the visionary. Financiers, academics, historians, artists, scientists, designers, architects, lawyers, chefs, authors, sailors, sportsmen and women, are all drawn to this vibrant, cosmopolitan city; they are all searching for a place to live, love, eat, play and sail. And they have found it. Simply irresistible, simply Limassol Marina.
