EDITOR’S MESSAGE Hello Ninjackrabbits! Welcome to Poly Key Club’s August newsletter! We have plenty of events and projects going on in the month of August, so I hope this newsletter is restorative and enjoyable to read. As the school year kicks in very soon I wish everyone the best of luck and their classes and I hope that everyone adapts well to the new learning method. Coronavirus rates are still increasing so please do your part by using your masks and gloves accurately. Also, you should invest in some cute reusable masks. Regardless of what everything is happening right now, I hope that you guys stay productive with your own personal goals and with key club events! There are so various opportunities to complete your requirements for the members’ recognition program I hope that everyone takes advantage of that. There’s the intro to college webinar with UCLA's Circle K's and several amounts of service events held by the division and club plus sticker pre-orders so make sure to try to do them all.

Kickin’ for Service,

We are slowly transitioning into having in real life events again so please be sure to come through so the board can see you and your beautiful face because we missed being blessed with being able to see it. Alright enough rambling take care y’all see ya. : )

Heidi Sek, Secretary HEY KEY-UTIES! Happy August! Thank you for another amazing month! July was very successful in terms of earning hours; we earned 126 more hours than June! We hope that as we all begin to transition into the new school year, you all will continue to support our club and help us reach our goals :)) August will be filled with many challenges but I hope that as time goes by, things will start to look brighter for all of us! I’m super excited for the day we can all meet in Mr. Kawai’s room, so let’s continue to take care of ourselves and others during this pandemic. Don’t forget to stay updated with our announcements, and thank you in advance for another amazing month!

CLUB RECAP DARE SQUARE In July, we held our first fundraiser: The Poly Key Club dare square! In this event. Members of the division including several other keyuties dared our board members to endure many dreadful but fun and hilarious dares which you can find on our dare videos. From this fundraiser, we raised a very grand total of $274.30 where more than $100 went to PTP.

-

WELLNESS WEEK Poly key club held our very successful and fun wellness week. The idea of wellness week was to provide opportunities to serve our community while helping the wellness of our members. We did affirmation jars, pause for, and so much more. Through this service week, our club served a total of 194 hours.

LILO & STITCH JULY DCM

I hope you guys have been talking to your D30S penpals cause I did! Our division have decided to collab with D30S to have our members bond by matching us with people from the other division. I was grateful enough to receive my penpal from Oxford Academy in Division 30 south. We have been sending letters back and forth and have talked about all of our favorite things. I can’t wait to bond with her more as time flies by. Make sure to keep up the connection and TALK TO THEM PENPALS!

-

Hey ninjas what’s popping it’s Dom and I’ll be covering July DCM. So for the month of July, our DCM took place on the 25th, starting at 6:00 PM, on Zoom. So being the division DCM Coordinator, during DCM’s I handle the icebreakers and the icebreaker for July DCM was “Quickdraw Scribbl.io” which took place towards the beginning of DCM. And then after DCM, the division hosted an environmental awareness service project where attendants made posters which helped to raise awareness for environmental issues and ways to combat them.

The past PKC meeting was an overall interacting and energetic event. While our president and Vice President made announcements and ran the meeting, it was very amusing to also participate in exercises. It felt very great not only learning about what was coming up but by multitasking in a service event that could be easily done through home workouts. The PKC meetings always bring me such joy and to keep on serving and to encouragement participate in the upcoming events.

-

DIVISION SERVICE WEEK For this month's division service week, key club members participated in apps and sites that could help donate to our communities as well as create cards for our foster youth, postal workers, and seniors from home! Our members allotted their time to participate in activities that were fun as well as helpful to our community at the same time. By the end of the month, the hard work of every member paid off as members who got huge amounts of service hours were recognized!

TEAM WHITE EVENTS COLOR-A-SMILE Kicking off the start of the new month, Poly Key Club was committed to working with our fellow division clubs Millikan, Somerset and St. Bosco to making the Division Team Competitions a success. Together, members volunteered to help the elderly by coloring printable coloring sheets and mailing them to seniors to brighten up their day! The Color-A-Smile event, which lasted for two hours on July 9th, allowed members to get to know people from other clubs and helped form/strength bonds despite the coronavirus outbreak. About 20+ members attended the Zoom call and members relaxed by doing this fun, helpful, and kind service event while talking to one another and listening to music.

-

SUMMER SOCIAL This month we had an amazing social event hosted on a Zoom call. The most fun part for everyone was getting into different breakout rooms to play games. Many attending were introduced to new people from other schools. One game in particular that stood out was Murder Mystery Trivia Jackbox which was hosted by our treasurer, Pia. The game asked the most obscure questions and most Ninjas just guessed randomly and hoped their answer was correct. Overall, the event was successful in bonding ninjas from different schools and giving them a space to play fun games in.
