EDITOR’S MESSAGE Hello Ninjackrabbits! I meant to get this newsletter out a bit sooner so that it could actually be read in October, but school has been keeping me really busy. I hope all of you are doing relatively okay with virtual school and your mental health. I know that some teachers don’t allow your schedule to have a few hours for yourselves, but it’s really important to try and maintain that balance of school work and personal fulfillment. Make sure to get outside once in a while and go on a walk to clear up your mind or to responsibly meet up with friends. Even though everyone is struggling, school gets out for Thanksgiving break in less than a month, so you can at least look forward to that :) Also, thank you so much to all of our members that have attended our meetings and participated in the virtual and in-person events. It’s really motivating for me to see you guys all working together (even if it’s over Zoom). Please continue to pay attention to our Instagram posts and meetings in order to stay updated on future events!

RECAP 9

That Newbee Social was buzzing! Over 50 members attended, the majority of them being new members, and they were able to get a feel of key club. We started off the event with introductions to the board and then members were split into breakout rooms hosted by officers and class representatives. In the breakout rooms, members played Among Us and participated in Icebreakers led by officers and class reps. After that our very own President Maryland Heng went over some Key Club 101 and gave the Key Club run down to the Newbees. And to cap off the whole thing, everyone participated in a swan making service event. All in all, the event went very well, and all the attendees had a sweet time.

-Dominique Cornejo, Vice President 10

Frostbites The Frostbites Fundraiser was a sweet success! Many members, old and new, were able to meet each other all the while grabbing a refreshing cup of ice cream or a yummy crepe! I was able to greet so many newbees and some star ninjackrabbits even paid their dues After the long day, we were able to garner $200+ and with 20% going to us, we raised $40 for PTP. A VERY big thank you to the members who came and brought their families/ friends with them, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you! I hope to see you at the fundraisers to come :))

-Pia Hao, Treasurer

Big Little Penpals The big and little pen pal program helps newbies adapt to Key Club by pairing them up with experienced members. This program gives the “littles a chance to become close to another member and learn from them. Since Key Club can be fast-paced and intimidating at times, the bigs are there to help the littles. This program allows Poly Key Club to create a better sense of unity while creating closer friendships and providing a friendly environment. Not only do individual members benefit from this program by gaining more experience and skills, but the club benefits as a whole with the involvement of more teamwork.

-Julia Thav, Junior Representative 11

General Meeting Recap Poly Key Club's General Meeting was a really helpful and informational meeting for both returning and incoming members. All attendees received a brief background on the club as well as got the grasp of what Poly Key Club is and does. The meeting allowed all members to get comfortable with the club as well as learn all about past events and events to come. The

board handled everything well and the members seemed to enjoy the commentary as well as the atmosphere the meeting provided. I, for one, had fun and hope the rest of the members had fun as well!

-Sierianna Chea, Fresh/Soph Representative

National Color day This October 22nd was National Color Day! One of the National Color Day’s purposes is to honor our amazing world of color and appreciate how much color brings vibrance and joy to our life. We celebrated this awesome day by participating in a coloring service event. Our project included making beautiful and fun colored pictures and drawings to send out to senior citizens and troops overseas in hopes to bring some more joy into their lives. This project was not only super relaxing to participate in but also gave us an opportunity to bring a smile to other people’s faces. It has definitely been one of my favorite service events this whole semester!

-Ryann Chalmers, Junior Representative 12

Poly Key Club held their first in-real-life service event on October 16th and 23rd! In order to follow CDC guidelines, Poly Key Club hosted both volunteer projects with ten participants, and all volunteers came, which we are incredibly thankful for! We made more than 100 goodie bags for charity, cutting up pumpkins and writing positive notes as cards, and putting together goody bags with candy and other small gifts. We were impressed and thankful with our members’ efforts as they continue to make volunteering a priority despite our COVID-19 situation and we hope that we can host another in-real-life service event soon!
